Really great Simon! Just bought the Backscatter Mini Flash 2 and snoot and bringing them down to Raja Ampat for the next couple of weeks. I am so glad I found this presentation! I feel much more equipped to succeed! Thank you!

One day I'm going to do this. At this moment it doesn't fit Inn my series about starting macro photography on a budget. But under water photography is real nice. So thank you for sharing this.

This is a fantastic lecture on underwater photography. I think you should actually convert this zoom recording into a properly produced underwater photography instructional video (backscatter style). Also, I see below that somebody said that it would be good to be able to add to the photos the parameters that were used in them, I very much agree with that comment.

Hi there. it depends on the model of snoot, some you need to plan for the light to come out slightly to one side. It is a bit annoying

Thanks this was great! I’ve just seen that part 2 is broken. Is this fixable or do you plan to re-record at all?

Question: how do I get black backgrounds when the sync speed of my shutter is fixed at 1/160 with the flash?

Reduce your aperture and ISO so that the image is dark unless you use your strobe. Then add strobe
