Met this guy in a philly concert once. Had no clue who he was, just thought he was a crazy man in a suit. When I saw him on stage after he just looked at me laughing. Cool guy. Great show. Me and my friends always shout date rape after a song during a concert (to mimic sublime). I had no clue he covers it, and sure enough after shouting it, they did cover it and it was amazing. Beat concert experience I ever had.
Main thing that was cool about this movie was the fact the Annette got to introduce herself to a new generation of fans. R.I.P. Annette and thanks so much for the memories.
He was great, but it’s not like he was King Tutankhamen, not sure Fishbone is memorable enough to be discussed 3,000 years from now. No offense to the guy, but time moves on. Edit- this movie certainly isn’t, but I still find myself watching the clips all these years later lol
it was also during the filming of this movie back to the beach that annette first either noticed the symptons of multiple sclerosis or was diagnosed with it.
@rsowner1000 heh that was Frankie Avalon and the line makes sense in the context of what was happening in the movie at the time. This wasn't an actual "music video" it was a musical number cut from the middle of the movie Back to the Beach.
Love this Classic Beach Video doing"The SKA Dance!"with Annette....I've seen this in the past-Love her&Frankie!Brings back soooo many fun times in the 60's!!!! Miss those days on Lake Michigan,in South Haven Michigan-with my Beach buddies,Melinda of Jumpin Jazz Cat Music....Kisses n Hugs 2 Annette&Frankie
in 1964 Annette Funicello sang this song on an album called "At Bikini Beach". It was written by Byron Lee and performed by the Dragonaires who were fatured in the film James Bond film 'Dr. No' in the scene at Pussfeller's club.
"although its spelt ska is pronounced skya! AND THERE IS NOBODY DOING THE SKA IN THIS VIDEO!" Actually everybody does the ska, just watch the movie "This is ska". Such a funny movie, and sucha a funny scene also, I had been looking for it for a very long time, thank you for uploading it!
this sounds gorgeous...... our new wake up song for us" siska georgina and me barunca he last of the human freedoms is to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances. -- Victor Frankl
awesome ~ i can't believe it took so long for me to check this clip out! i just thought FB had some weird cameo in it, not a video:^) Annette made this kinda weird, but this was probably the least cheezy part of the whole movie:^D great song. i think i saw them do it when i saw them in '99 or in '00. hopefully they'll do it again when i see them next. they've gotta go back to mashin' it up nice, though ~ last few times TOO much Ska [not like there's anything wrong with that, BUT....]!
I meant to saw Angelo...not adrian...like Adrian Sherwood the english guy...who really know anyone by their name's in this band. We know them as the bass player with the funny hair and goatee and the crazy bald guy with all the facial expressions. Do you know any of the other guys...they are really nice people. I have a Sublime Tribute CD somewhere with everyones signature. Are they playing with Ranking Roger's Beat or Dave's English Beat. The Living Color in SF show sounds fun.
Yes, and before reggae was rock steady, before ska was calypso, mento and then it goes back to Bahama calypso, African-Caribbean folk music and it kinda swirled around the Caribbean islas, the Antillles & Latin America...roots music that led us to the current day bachata, cumbia and reggaeton... Man, tropical music sure appeals to me!
@yorumothersface i know that im also jamaican too but there are a lot of jamaicans that live in england if you lived in england you would know what im talking about
Fishbone - one of the most under rated bands. One of the best bands to see live.

Saw Fishbone first at SNL. was mesmerized, So much freaking energy.
One of my favorite all time movies and I love this song!! I booked it at my movie theater around 1986. Annette did a great job in it.
Main thing that was cool about this movie was the fact the Annette got to introduce herself to a new generation of fans. R.I.P. Annette and thanks so much for the memories.
coolest video evar.
Why has everyone forgotten about Fishbone? They literally went from being one of the biggest bands of the 80s to having to scrape by.
Because people - especially those affiliated with the music recording industry - suck.
and I'll give them my money every time I get a chance to see them. They represent my gen better than any.

Love love love this song been a good while
I wouldn't have believed it til I saw it. Fishbone rocks it again in even the wildest of spots as always, with flair & style of course!

I am proud to do the Jamaican Ska
Wow this takes me back "fun were having fun", ska was a fun and late 70's-80's groove.
@redmail02 glad to see others who recognize annette......wow.
Annette actually recorded the original version of this back in 1964
There's a video out there of her on Bob Hope's show doing it and just befuddling Bob.
Pretty sure Byron Lee & The Dragonaires recorded the original version.

I love this song...Annette Funicello kicks butt in this song, and in this movie...heck in general!
I will not deny that I love Annette Funicello. And if it's good enough for Fishbone, it's good enough for me.
This is the awesome original line up. Chris Dowd who left in 1994 has some new music up on youtube.

Esta cancion es de skarface?
Sorry to hear that! Annette was the first person to bring Ska to America She covered "Jamaican Ska" in her 1964 album "At Bikini Beach"
"My Boy Lollipop" was released the same year.
this movie is amazing, it has peewee , gilligan and the skipper, frankie and annette, uncle jesse's wife from full house. oh and fishbone.
I meant to saw Angelo...not adrian...like Adrian Sherwood the english guy...who really know anyone by their name's in this band. Do you know how to Jamaica Ska?
It was while rehearsing this scene that Annette first noticed her symptoms of multiple sclerosis.
ManuRibeiro, I think exactly the same. But what is this thing anyway!?... I wonder what Don D would think of this or McCook ... etc
wicked funny but awesome
