    In this video, I'll show you to remove and install the rear fender of the 2017/2018 Ninja 1000 / Z1000SX. This will be useful if you want to access the ECU, install a fender eliminator, aftermarket rear turn signals, or an aftermarket tail light.
    Stay tuned for upcoming videos on the LED rear turn signals and the integrated tail light!

    Seriously man, I love your channel. I was always afraid to do a couple of things by myself and paid a lot of money for other guys to just use a screwdriver. Thanks to you I am getting more and more confident to do stuff myself.

      Thanks for the nice comment! Working on your own stuff is fun and rewarding, saves money, gives you appreciation for the engineering and construction of your bike, and assures you that the work gets done properly. So I’m glad that the videos are helping equip you to tackle more projects on your own!

  • @Truthasvictim
    @Truthasvictim 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Given the absurdly inadequate instructions for how to install the fender eliminator by Motodynamic, I can' begin to tell you how thankful I was to find your video with your very clear explanations of everything. For example- the instructions said to remove the 4 hex bolts after removing the back seat- fine, self evident, but also said to remove 2 screws. What screws? Until you've done all that John did, you'd never even know where to look for them. That's just one example of how patheitc they were. Really, Motodunamic needs to hire me to write it for them. There was nothing related to the wiring, taking off the rials or fiberglass around the seating. Bad joke assuming you'd know all that stuff.

      Tearing apart a new bike is half the fun! And I’m happy to be able to share the knowledge and experience with you guys. I’ll have a better impression of the pillion seat when I do a full review of the bike. My girlfriend hasn’t had a chance to ride on the Ninja yet. But I did sit on it myself and found it to be soft and comfortable. I also really like that it’s curved to hold the pillion in place. On my last bike, she would slide forward into me every time I came to a stop. Ouch!

    • @JonLong
      @JonLong  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll talk about that more in an upcoming video, but unfortunately I couldn’t record the process. If you look at the back of the fender, you will see mold lines that run horizontally. I used the one that was even with the bottom of my license plate as a guide and cut with a dremel tool and a cutting disc. A saw would work well too. Then I used a sanding bit on the dremel to smooth it out. It is easy to cut and sand. Use eye protection, since it seems to be a glass fiber reinforced plastic.

    Thanks so much John. I got the nice Motodynamic fender replacement but the instructions are a total joke. Doesn;t amount to a quarter a page of writing and 2 of the 3 pictures are uesless.It's like they assumed you had watched your video. If they have their own instructional videos, like Vagabond does, I have yet to find them. Looks like you've saved me a lot of grief.
