Aja made her feelings known. Angel Reese wasn't properly developed at lower levels. That's why she struggles to finish at the rim. However, Given Angel's physique and other attributes she is the closest player to Aja should she develop scoring skills and puts on some muscle in the off season. Aja sees that. Aja knows that. Aja still has a lot left in the tank, but given that she is well liked by the fan base of the W her only path to respect is overwhelming dominance. @@Sistasoulja-825 Y’all gotta admit that is one hell of a one-person island.😎 Jealousy and envy are never a good look but some of you fans wear it well.
A’ja doesn’t like angel Reese. She is her number 1 competition in terms of individual large player fan bases. Reese also won some BET awards that otherwise could have gone to Wilson. She also knows Reese is a 1 trick pony as a player and the glorification of her game is detrimental to the integrity of the wnba.
You have no idea what your talking about Aja knew Angel since Maryland and calls her a daughter. And as far as one trick pony her tenacious effort is a skill in of itself which is why she averaged and set double double records in College and WNBA..in the same year.
Don't even try to act like this isn't a shot at Reese, because Wilson put her in the crosshairs and took a direct shot! And it's all out hilarious because she's right.
A’ja leads the league in points scored, rebounds and blocked shots. She (and her team) has won two championships. She is the best player in the league.
@@Mirror_of_the_Soul00 You have to be durable. As for Rebounds, Reese got 3+ extra rebounds per game because she clanked layups. Reese shot less than 40% from 5 feet and in, lowest in the WNBA. and Reese shot less than 17% from "In The Paint", lowest in the History of the WNBA.
Angel and Aja are champions, they even said their goal is to compete for championships. But you’re right because stats are the reason anyone praises the most popular WNBA player, bc that player has no rings
@@boxingandbulldogs6341 Okay and neither does winning a ring. Bench warmers get a ring if their team wins, does that mean they’re better than the players producing the entirety of their team’s offense? The answer better be NO.
She could have said anything. Anything! But she went with "I don't hunt rebounds." Speaks for itself. If she truly doesn't care about being the board record holder, she should have aaid something along the lines of "It doesn't matter if we don't win a ring." But we all heard what she went with.
The real question should be is the award for the most “valuable” player or is it for the best player? Because. Aja is the best player but if you take her off that aces team, they’re still pretty damn good. There’s other players like if you take them off their team, the team is awful again
Angel cares more about rebounds because she knows she cannot compete on points, at least until she can make major improvement in shooting percentage. And if and when that happens, her points will become more important and offensive rebounds will fall proportionally.
Her comment had nothing to do with Reese herself. I believe it was a shot at the media and delusional fans who have been trying to convince everyone how important rebounding alone is to the game. It's one important part, for sure, but to single it out as a stand alone stat isn't important to people who play at a high level. Who better than the MVP of the league to use her own words to point that out. "I'm tall and play under the basket, of course I get a lot of rebounds" (paraphrasing). Duh!!!🤣😂
Box score says otherwise. More rebounds more chances to score. Create turnovers more chances to score. She might not care but shit hit those boards Aja get some easy put backs you dropping extra 2-3 buckets a night
I don't think Reese will ever get more rebounds than she did this year. This year the vets allowed Reese to push them around to keep the DD alive, but that is over now, and I think they will body Reese for the rest of her career.
The point is to put the ball through the hoop not play backboard Patty Cake. Only reason Reese cares about rebounds is superficial relevance. Otherwise she's a bench player with a short career since lay ups are a challenge for her.
Whether it was intended as such really doesn't matter, IMO - the fact that she pointed out that hunting rebounds at the cost of missing out on points or wins because of your all-consuming desire to get a stat that is worthless IF IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY HELP YOUR TEAM WIN means that Angel will get dragged, because she made her WHOLE SEASON about getting that record and she then loses it like 3 games later by a player who was too busy doing things for her team that MATTERED to notice.
The record was severely tainted with Reese holding it due to obvious and documented stat padding. In fact, if Reese held the record, it would have to included an asterisk to protect the integrity of the game due to the enormity of rebounds off her own missed shots and blatant stat padding.
@@jrod9729you keep posting this- how do you know that Angel and A’ja talk often? A’ja has done one post laughing at sometime calling Angel her kid.. she isn’t routinely hyping up Angel and hasn’t posted anything about her since before All Star break
To be fair, no one cares about rebounds, which is why we all had a problem with Angel Reese being put in the same conversation as Kaitlyn Clark lol. Aja is speaking for a all hoopers.
I think her comment of “I don’t hunt rebounds” coupled with “I’m more focused on putting the ball IN the hoop” with emphasis. The rebounds coupled with talk about finishing might be seen as a double rub to Angel
The emphasis on Reese's rebounds is her participation trophy. Points and assists help your team and wins games (see Caitlin Clark). Reese's 15 minutes are up. I will not miss her.
If Angel could improve her close shooting by 15 percent and her mid range shooting by maybe 25-30 percent, she could be looking at MVP in the future. But of course that is easier said than done. There is about 13 or 14 points per game separating her and A’ja Wilson at the moment. But I’m sure she doesn’t just want to be the best rebounding forward of all time.
Wow, everybody taking shots at Reese now that she quit and is no longer racking up meaningless double doubles. A'ja is basically saying she isn't stealing rebounds from her teammates like Reese was and that she is not obsessing over rebounds at the sacrifice of other parts of her game or team goals like Reese was.
A'ja shoots at a high percentage, is first option in scoring, is elite rebounder, blocks shots, and can disrupt opponent's offense. "Angel" Reese can rebound, is unbalanced, shoots 17% In The Paint, shoots less than 40% from 5 feet and in, and is jealous of CC to the point of physical attacks. Other than that, the Sky's season ends today about 7 P.M. MT. Yeah !!!
i mean it’s not even a bad thing that angel fights for the rebounds… aja even said it herself, she doesn’t like guarding angel because she fights for the boards, which gives her team second chance points. she just gotta work on her skill a bit. plus angel even said it herself she doesn’t care about no rebound record, she’s just going out there & playing ball.
50 Games Season will bring in a ton more money. However, I'd like to see The WNBA go to 48 Minutes Games; teams would have to have strong top to bottom and 48 minutes would demonstrate Women can be equal to Men.
Rebounding in the W is way overrated. 80% of defensive rebounds just land in your hands uncontested, including CC's 6/game. Most bigs in the W that play 35 minutes a game should easily average 12 a game.
I’ve been seeing a lot of hardcore Angel fans start to really hype up Aj’a but only once the rookie of the year race was officially over. I wonder how they feel about this.
Reese only cares about rebounds because that’s all she can do, STOP MAKING IT SEEM LIKE SHE HAS OPTIONS. They don’t boxout Reese, they let her get rebounds so they can say she’s good for something. Remember, we have to kept the rivalry going.💯
It's incredibly cringy seeing the amount of people obsessed with Angel Reese and think everything is targeting her or that everything has to be a shot at her.
Nobody ever gave a crap about rebounds. Only since angel came in. her "fans" only used that as a way to go against Clark. They held onto the one random stat that they could lmfao. Aja doesn't care cause it's not a big deal. Hitting your shots is more important
@@GenerationalDisappointment Yes but not like this though bro. Dennis rodman had a way better fg% and defense. He wasn't just good at rebounding. We are giving AR participation points. They were trying to give her ROTY and her only skill was/is rebounding lmfao. Cmon
It was definitely a shot but more at AR stans, who’ve acted like rebounds and double doubles are the most important stats in basketball. The “I don’t hunt rebounds” was a big middle finger to the AR stans who tried to normalize stat padding as if it was a legit thing to do and not cringe as fuck.
It was definitely a shot at Angel Reese. You can tell when they play against each other, that Wilson does not like playing against her, and gets annoyed with her often. Plus a professional like Wilson would immediately recognize that Angel is padding her own stats. Which is part of what that comment was about.
Everyone felt bad for Russell Westbrook when Kevin Durant left the Thunder. We didn’t know how bad of a teammate Westbrook was at the time and he was putting up those triple doubles, so he won the MVP. After that it became obvious what Westbrook was about.
She is at least smart enough to recognize in the type of game predominantly played by WNBA teams...rebounds do not equate to wins. Still...a thousand points ain't bad.
If you don't care about something then don't go after it. If she doesn't care about rebounds, then why is she going after all the loose balls and is the best rebounder of her team? Athletes always say they don't care about individual awards; but all sensible humans know they lying by saying that. Aja should stop rebounding if she doesn't care about rebounds. She wouldn't have gotten the record anyway if Reese wasn't injured.
Looking forward to Swoopes trashing Willson on the rebounding record because it took more games.. Angel cares more about rebounds because that's all she going for her game at this time..
Is she just saying that because the only reason she got it was because Angel missed the last part of the season and would have increased the record if she had finished the season , so it's going to be viewed as record , but with a note ?
Bruh. C'mon, Mick. How could this NOT be a shot at Angel Reese? Unless you're saying that A'ja Wilson is just totally ignorant to all of the narratives and hype (she's not, a lot of things she has said make this clear), there is no way she didn't understand how people would take this.
Agree. Though I also do not like AR, I must admit that AR is a better rebounder than A'ja Wilson. AR's leg muscle is more flexible and quick. AR jumps very fast. She may not jump the highest but she is fastest. Her hand is above your hand all the time.
The fact that she dont get 3 reb in a single pos is bc she doesnt manufacture fake reb and can get buckets! (yet still get double-doubles!!!) Also she is way too humble, being 6' 4 mean nothing when the ops post players are 6'7 6'6 and 6'5 at best! (I didnt hear 6'9 BG was anywhere close to that record) 5:09
Playoffs dont mean nothing when it comes to season awards . Michael Jordan won just about every single award i think in 87 or 88... Larry bird swept him in the first round.
A'ja Wilson is balling out like a woman gone insane and Clark and Reese gather all the attention. It really is unjust that she does not get her due attention, kind of like Tim Duncan (we all know he was great, but he wasn't ever the most adored player). A'ja is a great rebounder. Unfortunately at 26.9 points per game she is a great shooter, but "not dominating" according to Swoopes. You don't rebound as well as A'ja unless you are trying hard to collect them. A rebound is the same as a steal, because it is a change of possession. On average a possession is worth about one point. A'ja may have been making the point that she doesn't stat-stuff, but you really have to read between the lines to get that meaning. Arike probably won't ever average 28 points. But imagine if Mitchell retired and Arike was on the Fever. She's a really good three point shooter when she's open. On her current bad team, she has to force shots, because who else is going to score a pile of points?

@@weinhereeeee9271 Let's address this gunner claim. Currently A'ja has 1021 points from 713 shots. That is 1.43 points for every shot attempt. If a shooter of two point field goals hits 50%, that is one point per shot taken. 50% is a great shooting percentage. If a shooter gets 33% of their three point shots, that is one point per field goal attempts for threes. Again, this is a very good shooting percentage. Because she gets 1.43 points for every shot attempt that shows that she is an *incredible* shooter. So what you are saying about her being a poor shooter is an utter fabrication. Did it make you mad when Sheryl Swoopes said lots of fabricated things about Caitlin Clark, like how old she was or how many years she played in college, etc.? I know I didn't like it. That because she was just making silly stuff up. If we, as Caitlin Clark fans, do the same thing, then we become a big, ugly army of Sherly Swoopes clones. If we claim that the efforts of A'ja or Reese are weak, meaningless crap, we have become fabricators (another word for liars). Caitlin Clark is incredibly skilled and (in my opinion) the most fun person to watch in the WNBA. Any awards she wins will be deserved, but tearing other people down in a falsified way to try to prop someone else up is not a solution to the problem. It is the problem. That is exactly what the Swoopes negativity crowd is doing. If we do exactly the same thing, what is that accomplishing? Believe it or not, Caitlin Clark is not the only skilled person in the WNBA and even if we include the entire Fever team, there are plenty of other good players not on the fever team. Instead of trying to tear them down with falsehoods, we can celebrate their excellence as well. That is how ladies and gentlemen behave. BTW, you may need some lube, your caps-lock key is stuck. Put another way, the truth is just as strong in a whisper as it is in a full-throated scream.
P.S. Wilt Chamberlain once took 63 shots in a game. He scored 100 points. I think that is a pretty good performance. His teammates did not mind either. They were egging him on to do it.
PPS, Kelsey Mitchell has 763 points in 600 shots. That is a ratio of 1.27, which is truly excellent but not as good as A'ja Caitlin Clark has 761 points on 575 shots. That is a ratio of 1.32, which is fantastic, but not as good as A'ja.

So an up and coming player that with cardosa embarrassed and frustrated her is definitely on her radar. CC is out of position to challenge her directly. Angel with proper development is her direct competition. As for her statement being a jab it definitely was. She says passive aggressive things like that all the time. She will literally describe someone down to the color of their underwear without naming them as she takes a jab at them. She often makes statements to imply unfair treatment while minimizing the treatment of others. This has been her whole career in the W. It's why despite being a great player she isn't well liked.
That rebounding title did not mean anything to Aja but it probably crushed AR to pieces 😢

Angel don't think like that. Her and A'ja are close. I am sure she is happy for her. Stop trying to create some beef between the two. It has been a 24/7 job for y'all to build that one person island for CC.

I was just saying this the other day, Slash. It seems like stats are 10X more important than winning in this league.
@@boxingandbulldogs6341Because stats measure how good a player is, rings don’t.
Angel and Aja are champions, they even said their goal is to compete for championships. But you’re right because stats are the reason anyone praises the most popular WNBA player, bc that player has no rings
@@wondercove There are plenty of empty stays out there. For example, double doubles. Stats alone don’t measure a player’s impact.
The " I don't hunt rebounds" quote is a DEFINITE shot at Reese!
Can we go ahead and rename the MVP award the Best Player award since that is what it has become.
Should still go to Caitlin Clark then.
Ah, in reality, nobody really cared about rebounds until this year. It just magically became important.
It was not magic; It is Reese's one and only skill.
Aja doesnt expect her shots to miss so she isnt chasing the ball after she shoots it to grab the rebound.
jokic deserved that mvp over embiid. no one can convince me otherwise.
So she casually broke a record that someone else was totally trying to set... ouch.
Duh!!!🤣😂
A'ja looks like she is trying to become the new mascot for Buc-ee's .
She has the mentality of someone who likes to play Patty Cake, but the other bigs don't play that way.
They, Aces, turned it around midseason, I'm thinking they're dangerous
Whether it was intended as such really doesn't matter, IMO - the fact that she pointed out that hunting rebounds at the cost of missing out on points or wins because of your all-consuming desire to get a stat that is worthless IF IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY HELP YOUR TEAM WIN means that Angel will get dragged, because she made her WHOLE SEASON about getting that record and she then loses it like 3 games later by a player who was too busy doing things for her team that MATTERED to notice.
A'ja right. Nobody ever cared about rebounds till this WNBA season for *whatever* reason.
The record was severely tainted with Reese holding it due to obvious and documented stat padding. In fact, if Reese held the record, it would have to included an asterisk to protect the integrity of the game due to the enormity of rebounds off her own missed shots and blatant stat padding.

To be fair, no one cares about rebounds, which is why we all had a problem with Angel Reese being put in the same conversation as Kaitlyn Clark lol.
Aja is speaking for a all hoopers.
No sugarcoating, rebounds is no popular record. If not for media using it to hype Angel Reese, nobody would have cared about it.
"I don't Hunt" "I'll grab a few for my team if I'm around the hoop"
MT. Yeah !!!
Yeah, that was a direct shot at Angel.

She really meant, "I'm the best player in the league, and I don't have to play in garbage time to get a double double.
She would have cared if it was CC’s record
50 Games Season will bring in a ton more money. However, I'd like to see The WNBA go to 48 Minutes Games; teams would have to have strong top to bottom and 48 minutes would demonstrate Women can be equal to Men.
I feel the WNBA should look to negotiate for 50 games in a season.
You can expect to see CC pull off a Nate Archibald season, maybe as early as next year.
She knows she broke the record after the previous record holder got injured. Small victory.
That is def a shot bro, she could have left out the "hunt rebounds" lmaooo
Bulls don't win two championships without Rodman basically rebounding
Rebounding in the W is way overrated. 80% of defensive rebounds just land in your hands uncontested, including CC's 6/game. Most bigs in the W that play 35 minutes a game should easily average 12 a game.
Only 40 mins played though so this likely deflates the rebounding stats
Literally only 2 players in WNBA history averaged 12 rebounds a game. And if it’s so easy, why don’t you go and do it
You crazy for thinking this isn't a shot at Reese...she went out of her way to make that hit..😂😂😂
I’m a CC fan, but Wilson is the clear MVP, just like CC is the clear ROTY. I mean. Let’s be real
Defensive rebounds are mostly luck and you want to make the shot rather than cumulate offensive rebounds. So, yes, rebounds don't matter that much.

It was definitely a shot at Angel Reese. You can tell when they play against each other, that Wilson does not like playing against her, and gets annoyed with her often.

I think it is. I can well imagine the Queen Bee is saying to Angel, ""Shoo, fly, don't bother me..." Why else make a comment like that.
She is at least smart enough to recognize in the type of game predominantly played by WNBA teams...rebounds do not equate to wins. Still...a thousand points ain't bad.

I disagree with some things she said about CC
But she straight up about basketball
The W got 99 problems and A'ja ain't one
Bruh. C'mon, Mick. How could this NOT be a shot at Angel Reese? Unless you're saying that A'ja Wilson is just totally ignorant to all of the narratives and hype (she's not, a lot of things she has said make this clear), there is no way she didn't understand how people would take this.
Unless the aces start playing real basketball and not feed aja ball like they have all year, they ain’t winning.
Good for her! Points record is more impressive!
To be honest she know she wouldn’t have that record if angel played a full year so she gotta act like she ain’t for it
Agree. Though I also do not like AR, I must admit that AR is a better rebounder than A'ja Wilson. AR's leg muscle is more flexible and quick. AR jumps very fast. She may not jump the highest but she is fastest. Her hand is above your hand all the time.

She is going for a third consecutive ring, my rebounds! Angel Reese is watching the playoffs. Priorities?
The fact that she dont get 3 reb in a single pos is bc she doesnt manufacture fake reb and can get buckets! (yet still get double-doubles!!!) Also she is way too humble, being 6' 4 mean nothing when the ops post players are 6'7 6'6 and 6'5 at best! (I didnt hear 6'9 BG was anywhere close to that record) 5:09
I bet she feels the same way about assists.
Joker should have been MVP. Embiid deserved it, sure. But NOT more than Joker.
WILSON IS OVERRATED . PEOPLE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT HER POINTS BUT DID YALL EVER PAY ATTENTION TO HOW MANY F-ING TIMES SHE SHOOTS THE BALL? KELSEY MITCHELL AND CC ARE OUT HERE GETTING CLOSE TO THE SAME AMOUNT OF GAME POINTS FROM WAAAAAAAAY LESS SHOTS. WILSON JUST A SELFISH PLAYER WHO DOESNT PASS AND TAKES EVERY SHOT HERSELF. MOST OF THE GAMES WHERE SHE REALY HIGH IN POINTS SHE ALSO SHOT THE BALL HELLA TIMES AND SORRY BUT IM NOT IMPRESSED IF YOU GET 32 POINTS FROM 25 SHOTS. IMAGINE IF MITCHELL AND CC TOOK 25 SHOTS A GAME THEY COULD LITERALLY DO THE SAME PROBABLY EVEN BETTER SINCE THEY CAN SHOOT 3 POINTERS
That is a ratio of 1.27, which is truly excellent but not as good as A'ja
Caitlin Clark has 761 points on 575 shots. That is a ratio of 1.32, which is fantastic, but not as good as A'ja.
