What people fail to understand is just how intensely and seriously the US government and its various private industries, studies Islamic movements. Organizations (“think tanks”) like the Rand corporation regularly inform and influence foreign policy. For example, here is a passage from a 2007 Rand report: “The U.S. government should make an explicit decision to help build moderate Muslim networks and link these efforts to overall U.S. strategy and programs.”
The goal is clear. The US is to identify groups that will either act as puppets or will not impede U.S. policy. The term “moderate groups” is a misnomer as any group that opposes the the new world order is simply not considered “moderate.”
