Why is this being released now, nearly 3 years after it aired, and months after Event Horizon produced its landmark images? I feel like you missed the window of opportunity here.
They addressed this..... they were contractually bound. They couldn't release these videos on free streaming services and they now are. They are putting out the backlog of material
@@tavferry3301 thanks, but if I missed it I'm unlikely to be the only one. It would be simple to add a couple of sentences to the show notes to explain.
I feel like people are forgetting about Unruh Radiation, your Blackbody "reflection" that traces back your whole personal world line, and the personal world lines of everything.
I don't get why they keep confusing the GRAVITY needed to stop light escaping, with the GRAVITY a human being can handle, THERE is no WAY anything we can build can get close to the horizont, because the gravity at that point is so HUGE is prevent light from escaping. Not to mention the area wouldn't be empty, it would have stuff circling around the hole at INSANE speeds, because orbit speed is the only way to counter gravity, so anything that isn't a particle will be destroyed by being hit by all the stuff circling the horizon If you had a human body with the density of a black hole and you magically removed all "stuff" around the horizont, then maybe you could create spaghettification scenario. Otherwise the spaghettification is a stupid lie.
Can someone get this question to neil or answer themselves Janna levin said 95% of space is dark and non luminus So if you where a astronaut floating between galaxies or floating in interstellar space light years away from any galaxies Would you not see anything? Would you not be able to see your hand in front of your face?
i think what they mean is that there's light traveling through the empty space between galaxies, but you cant see the light until it hits an object, and since theres no objects between the galaxies... it's "non luminous".... so the astronauts would see stuff from other galaxies, because the light would be hitting an object (the astronauts eyes)
Absolutely adore her!
I love Janna Levin episodes. Always super informative.

@@TomTom-km6bo hmm I must have missed that episode.
They addressed it in the social portion of the youtube feed.

Have Shep and his team published their results on Sag A* yet?

I'll give you a hint, Hawking's radiation. I understand the confusion, but it explains a bunch of your question.
