Flying “manual mode” (more commonly known as acro mode) is extremely difficult for even the most experienced pilots when flying line of sight (without the goggles). Definitely recommend putting the goggles on if you’re going to try acro 🤙🏼

I feel like in general the whole thing is easier when flying from the googles! I'm still terrible at it, but I do a whole lot better in the googles!

Haha love to see you getting into FPV man! Whatever works for you, go for it but most of us start in a simulator, then go outside, and after lots of experience, finally try to fly indoors. You’re learning in reverse 😂😂

  • @madpropspodcast

Biggest advice: get a simulator. Velocidrone and Liftoff are the most popular, Uncrashed and Tryp and up and coming and look amazing, DRL Sim is the best for racing simulation. All in all, Uncrashed is probably the easiest and cheapest to just pick up and get learning.
As much as people tell you to look into it right away, ignore rates, ignore feeling like you need to build your own, ignore messing around too much with betaflight. That’s 1-2 years after you start kinda stuff.
Find a large open area to practice (once you’ve put MINIMUM 10 hours in the simulator) and start with circling objects, small loops, and rolls.
Then from there, you go in DEEP, take a second mortgage on your home, buy a drone to lift a Blackmagic 6K, and change your whole career convincing yourself you’ll be flying in the next Michael Bay movie… you’ve got this!

I've heard about Liftoff from a friend! That would solve this battery issue too. These things are crazy fun, but man do they burn through batteries!
Just applied for a second mortgage, so I'm ready to buy my big kit later this year🤣

100% exactly what they said. That's what I did from zero to at least not crashing an avata in a month or so. Drl is most fun but liftoff feels more realistic.its like $20, no Brainer.

A simulator is very worth using, at any level of experience. I got DRL for $7 on sale on Steam. I had to use a wired gaming controller, my wireless did not work for some reason.
You can learn a ton using just a basic gaming controller. However using one long term isn't good for building good throttle control.

Totally making this way harder trying to learn inside. Give yourself LOTS of room!

I just returned my Cetus X. I'm a beginner. got the Cetus Lite drone 8 weeks ago to see if I would get motion sickness. I didn't, and it was fun soooo. wanted an upgrade so last week I ordered and got the Cetus X. after watching lots of reviews and drone pilots. I thought I could handle this thing. after setting all the switches to the lowest settings (following the directions). I set it on the floor and armed it. gave it a little throttle and got it up to about 12" off the floor. it then, without me doing anything with the sticks, it dropped to the floor and just started bouncing like a ball (up about 12", down, up 12" down etc. etc. ) off my floor until I disarmed it. tried again, same thing. so hovering wasn't doable. So I thought well maybe I should just try to fly it across my room. armed it, gave it throttle, eased the right stick forward just a tad. and the drone started going nicely across the room, again about 12 to 18 inches off the floor. then halfway across the room, without me doing anything different to the sticks. the motors just screamed to full throttle and the drone rockets up and slams into my ceiling then proceeds to bounce around my house until I can get it disarmed. spent 2 days messing with it and it just kept repeating that performance. the drone was set at Angle mode. So I returned it today. on top of that, when it did fly, OMG was it touchy! So now I'm looking elsewhere for my drone. beginner to intermediate acro-ing. Nice video, wish I could create them as you do.

Hi great video and I own the Cetus Pro kit and I find the same I'm always charging battery's and getting maybe 2 mins pre battery because my area gets high winds and the drone has to fiight the wind more so it drains the battery faster I also own a Meteor 75 Pro a little bigger drone then the Cetus Pro but still same problem you fight the wind to much and fly less big dissapointment I was hopeing to fly outside more but I can't due to the winds and I need to get a bigger drone like a 3 to 5 inch prob drone so way more $$$.

Agree with others about getting a controller then hitting up some realistic simulators like Liftoff. However, for real “screw your instruction manual/i’ll find my own directions” manly men….you should still use a sim haha. But seriously, I am just as impatient when I tried FPV the first time too….except I went ahead and bought the whole kaboodle…..Walksnail Goggles X with a BetaFPV Pico 20 (to be fair, I’ve flown RC Hell’s before….this is still harder). There is actually a model below your Cetus drone that costs a little over $200…..but I could not stand analog 1980’s VHS mode, hence my expensive learning choice.
I’m not sure if you can PID Tune your Cetus as I’ve never used Ready to Fly beginner kits, but a really really good way to start if you are going to go Rambo in FPV, is to dial down your Thrust strength for Angle and/or Horizon mode and then add a little bit of easing so you don’t get the jerky spastic liftoff…..then slowly keep raising the power as you get more comfy. This will prevent you from taking off like a rocket and will allow you to find your hover zone much quicker also.
Good luck though, I’m still zipping around my house with my Pavo20 and havent gotten into tricking yet (attempted a roll, and went full throttle sideways into the wall). Which brings me to another point…..PAD YOUR CAMERA lol. Either use a little bit of Blue Tack putty around the cam, or get an ND Filter that will at least protect your camera lens. Good luck bud, and Godspeed. You’re in for a long journey!
