how to repaint monster high or ever after high dolls
The work is so subtle, so otherworldly it's hard for me to watch without envy. These works of fine art are the creatures I longed to encounter as a child.

+NickiiR instead of using a paper towel, do this instead: get a balloon, fill it with water so it's like a little squishy handle you see on those blood pressure tests, tie it, and very carefully poke a hole with a pin and squeeze out the water. Use scissors to cut a snip and you get a rubber hair thingy for your dolls! I just did this for one of my ken dolls and it worked.
Also what do you use to seal the paint because I only have acrylics and watercolor and I did some before but the paint kept chipping

Very Tim Burton. My favourite part is the "fine fur" effect you managed to get just using pencil. Wow. Next time I suggest leaving the "glaze" off the lips or the nose. When everything is glossy you loose the impact of those beautiful eyes (seconds away from tearing up). Very cool tho, unlike any of the other Monster High modifications I've seen.

I always find that when I do eyes, adding the pupils either comes out amazing, or looks like the stuff of nightmares...

You didn't use a sealant before coloring her face? :o just curious, as I can't seem to draw on my dolls face before or after I put down the sealant. Maybe I have sucky watercolor pencils.
+Kathryn Au I did use sealant! I used it right after removing the factory paint and again later on to seal in the pastels (Mr.Super Clear) I buy It from amazon

I'm going to guess normal colored pencils wouldn't work on them... .-. Can you find watercolor pencils at Walmart or can you only find them at craft stores?

you would do breyer remodels (repaint and cross bread line hipogriphs)
How did you remove the original paints? Can you use any type of pencil or make-up pencils? Then how do you seal the dolls face and how often? I think it it really great that you are sharing your techniques, but that doesn't mean anyone could do this! I tried to remove a head off the monster high doll and I destroyed it!
+Marian Proi I use pure acetone/nail polish remover (must contain acetone). Some regular pencils you can use but ones like colored pencils /prismcolor/bristol are slippery and won't stick to the vinyl. I'm using watercolor pencils here. They go on a bit chalky so they stick.I also start out with a coat of Mr. Super Clear ,it helps things stick to the vinyl. Some powder eyeshadows can be used for blushing but things like lipsticks or eyeliner/lipliner will just smear off. Hope this helps :)
I just learned that there is a little message board icon (like FB) Thank you so much because I haven't bought the color pencils as of yet. Watercolor (from what I read) is the clue. I tried regular soft Crayola color pencils and pressed hard but it didn't work at all. Another person who had some really beautiful repaints recommended PRISMA were the best. Faber Castell is a brand that is wonderful for regular fine art drawing. I'm looking to purchase some on Amazon at present and will let you know the results. Another person recommended Derwent which I heard of as well. Which brand are you using now and how hard must you press? Finding the proper materials makes the world of difference. TY

no, you spray the dolls face with a special sealer which makes the surface kinda rough. then you can draw on it.

how do you keep the entire face from being rubbed off? I can see that you use a varnish/sealer on lips, eyes and nose but dont see whats preserving the rest of her lovely face.

How did you fill up the holes from cutting the ears off?
What did you use to get the paint off the doll? I used nail polish remover, and it just smudge it.
It's best to use 100% Acetone nail polish remover since it would be easiest. You could use regular remover but you would have to use more product and more force to get the same results.

What types of colors were you using? And do you seal the face before starting? My pencils wouldnt stick to the face. The color won't stay.

I do not know if it's a good idea what to think of customizing the dolls ? Such as sanding some part of the face or body to give it a new format ?
You probably could, but you got to be careful since you got to make you don't end up putting a hole in the poor dolls face. You got to think about the thickness of the material used.
