I flew helicopters professionally for 30 years. I remember once, as I approached retirement, I happened to be hovering a Blackhawk in a field at about ten feet in the air - just floating there - almost perfectly still. I thought how amazing it was that six tons of metal could do that. Then I thought how after 30 years of flying it still amazed me to experience this miracle and to be part of it. Helicopters are a unique adventure in flying.
