Thanks for this. I am doing a cottage reno. My bathroom floor will be over the old lounge and Grove timber. I am doing the waterproofing and tiling myself. Can I go through the steps as I understand? 1. Position my shower waste hole through my floor 2. Ready my ceramic tile underlay and glue & screw it in place. Ensure my puddle flang is flush with my underlay 3. Remove the flange and apply my membrane 4. Screed over, making my fall into the waste the flange and attach my finished grate.
Hi Timothy, we recommend confirming details with installation guide CTU manufacture and referring to ncc.abcb.gov.au/editions/ncc-2022/adopted/volume-two/h-class-1-and-10-buildings/part-h4-health-and-amenity & AS3740-2021 will provide guidance for falls and puddle flange detail.
Thanks for the video! So if you if have a puddle flange installed, and the drain get blocked down further in the pipe, doesn’t that mean the space under the tile, even though is waterproofed, is going to fill up before it comes up the surface drain so you that you know there’s a blockage?
Good video, thanks, I am installing mine next week into Sycon Secura sheet I have recessed the puddle flange into them using diamond cup grinding discs. I might post a video. Although I don't have any video editing skills so it won't be as professional as yours.
When waterproofing the puddle flange, is there a specific method or product to prime the pvc ready to receive the membrane? Or would I use the same primer I have to prime the concrete substrate?
Hi Sam, we recommend Gripset OP Primer if detailing the puddle flange the traditional Gripset SB & RF fabric method, if you want to save time and increase performance you should consider Gripset BRW PF Square. Head to our website for full details: www.gripset.com and thanks for watching!
If waterproofing over the screed (where there’s no fall on the substrate) do you then need a puddle flange? Or would you install the puddle flange, then screed, then waterproof?

Hi Ryan, the membrane terminates to the flange, so any water that comes up will be seen through the grate itself. Thanks for watching! :)
Only shows the concrete prep work...what about scyon preparation

D W Thanks for the feedback and we can’t wait to see your video!
Would you recommend also installing the puddle flange prior to the concrete substrate been poured?
Hi John, typically puddle flange gets installed after to avoid damage! Thank you for watching :)
a bit rushed. No description of the correct screws or adhesives for the concrete install

If there isn’t any fall on the substrate, I.e slab. Wouldn’t it be better to waterproof over the screed?
Yes we believe it would be better to waterproof over the screed 😁

bond braker silicone is fine for puddleflange placement
