Nah vivo way better!!it got laser focus and Gimbal Ois for videos,that the oppo doesn't have and it also have 5500 mAh battery with 30 watt wireless charging, definitely will go for vivo
I've watched other chinese (p)reviews of the x100 ultra after the newest update, and I believe it fixed many of the issues you mentioned. I'm especially impressed with the main camera's video stabilization and clarity at night, which you should've tested against ip5pm and s24u. Also, the awesome ultra hd portrait and concert modes
Vivo x90 pro plus user here. I honestly expected more after this long waiting. X100u will definitely get better with updates. That's for sure. But what disappoints me the most and almost no reviewer mentioned is that the giant fingerprint reader is gone! Check out some teardown videos, there's especially one very detailed one. The new fingerprint reader area is so damn small. Fingerprint reader was an effective factor while buying this x90pp phone. Some might say it's still fast yeah i know but with such big screens, big fingerprint readers are amazing. It had never failed me while unlocking. I workout often and my fingerprints were always an issue with Samsung flagships which also have under display ultrasonic fingerprint. Another issue no global release. I'm using my phone with a broken screen because Vivo gives zero support. Contacted global team, Singapore, China team. None provided a help. All i wanted them to ship me parts and I was willing to pay but no. You'll also have a hard time go find a repairman who's willing to repair this as most of them are familiar with well-known ones like Samsung, Xiaomi, Pixel etc. Another issue, bigger battery but still 80w charge and wireless charger is even less. I have 50w vivo charger and I guess won't be able to use its full power on this. Lastly, old curved screen design. Yesterday I checked xiaomi 14u in a store and that new display amazed me. I'm even fine with flat displays after struggling with repair issues of these damn curves displays. If the glass is broken Noone wanna change only glass because it's a complicated process to do OCA gluing, pressurizing, vacuuming etc. Definitely requires a professional equipment. Wide angle and main camera are nothing superior comparing it to find 7u and 14u. Where the emphasize is on that new zoom camera. For sure they put a lot of effort into it. But that doesn't justify the price tag much. Maybe we'd say Vivo's v3 chip dod magics with x100p so fr sure v3+ will do better. My curiosity is going to x100s pro. I'd definitely see how that performs...
I just saw it this about fingerprint. And yes if that is true (which I am afraid you cannot be wrong) it a major letdown. Vivo kept ultrasonic but wht made X90s fingerprint reader to differ was the fact I am able to use 3! fingerprint touches in the screen, each for different application. Too bad for ultra
i have same phone and already buying the ultra solely for the bigger battery, my only complain was the battery on x90 pro+ and yeah I noticed the downgraded fp sensor too, is sad they used a house built-in fp instead of using qualcome but they saved money with it but unlike samsung the face unlock works much better so 90% of the time i'm not using the fp sensor.
I guess the only answer to your question in the end is a comparison of Vivo x100 pro and ultra in sometime as soon as the ultra gets a few updates (15 days approx)

The problem with x100 ultra is that they just rushed to release it due to the 8 gen 4 phones coming in 4 to 5 months. I think they'd fix it with software update
Great video with many suggestions. Best bet at this point is to purchase the X100 Pro. I agree with you, the LYT900 may not be as good as expected or as difficult to control. It's a tough decision to make, whether to opt for the not-so-latest but mature product mentioned in the last section, or to buy a new release and hope for an update in 3 months. There is probably a price difference of $300 or more. I think I will buy the X100 Ultra in anticipation of updates, but I will wait and see. Thank you very much.

I believe out of the box, a device should be well optimized. Updates should be about refinements and not fixing shortcomings. If I were to choose between the x100 pro and x100 ultra, I might probably save some money and go for the pro. But if money is not a problem, I'll go with the ultra
Great job. The x100 ultra is a bit disappointing on release. The portraits and human subjects are a little too artificial for my tastes. Also the 200mp telephoto is nothing special. I think two telephotos like the other ultras is still the way to go for more flexibility. Hopefully Vivo and Honor give up on the 200mp idea and move back to two telephotos next year on their flagships as it doesn't seem to have worked that well this year for longer zoom ranges. Early days for the x100 ultra though so maybe after updates they will still prove me wrong. I'd go for the find X7 ultra which has officially reduced the price a lot now to very close to the the price of the Vivo x100 pro. Both have great cameras but the Oppo Find x7 ultra is better than the Vivo x100 pro overall as an phone
i was surprised from the start vivo was on the left, i have the 90 pro+ and HDR is the best in class, always keeping things balanced yet ultra had the background over-expused , clearly needs some updates
No idea to say witch is better before an update of Vivo x100 Ultra, all phones were bad before the update and lets not forget that Xiaomi 14 Ultra byers had to deal with fog in lens issue and that was not ok, for a phone that expensive.
I was one of those people. Extreme fogging of main lens every time I stepped outside. Xiaomi support said the issue was with my weather (UK) and not the phone 😂
I didnt have fogging issue with my 13U or 14U despite living in SEA country where humidity is high & traveling to a cold & mountainous region in China. At all times the phones were kept in a body pouch. My 13U & 14U had the UV lends adapter as well, so traped moist air could have fogged the external UV filter or lens.
All Chinese phones be like 'sale now - fix later'..... that's something that we see way way back from the days. And if someone ask me to describe all about Xiaomi in few seconds... it would definitely be 9:26! XDDD Great phone but there is always something with it...

No software is finished without room for improvement, but that's also the lies that bait everyone to purchase newer stuff. If one wants great software and quality they just buy a proper mirrorless camera not a toy.
The Xiaomi seems to offer a good all round package for photo enthusiasts. Vivos are good for stock camera vibrant, "perfect" images, at least when optimised. The Oppo is a mixed bag with also decent all round performance with a bit more processing or higher exposure.

There is not and at the moment there will not be the absolute top cameraphone. Best xiaomi 14u during the day, x100 pro at night, selfie x100 ultra for me. Oppo's X7 competes in all fields
Xiaomi: it takes a super good photo and then in others the colorimetry goes on a trip and takes not so good photos. camera not very consistent. video recording, zoom takes a few seconds to focus, takes a few seconds to focus again. selfie video, xiaomi yellowish faces. Some units have condensation problems. vivo: it just came out, it needs updates but its younger brother the vivo x100 pro has a great camera and the ultra will be no less, great selfie, very usable raw and log video. oppo: it's a great phone, great camera, selfie not up to par, it blurs too much when taking photos, it doesn't focus well on the entire scene apparently. Very flat photos and video, very good colorimetry but without the possibility of vivid mode etc...
Vivo X100 Ultra Failed, Xiaomi 14 Ultra is much better in terms of zoom and low light, which most of the smart phone makes it ultra because of quality of zoom lens it puts on a smartphone
In the first photo I go with A because the background wood color is more true than others, which made it a bit whiter than usual. Also in the second photo I think Vivo did the best because when yooming in the face, Oppo is a bit dark and overshapened. On the selfie no discussion needed at all, we all know which did best. On the 4k daztime video I agree with you brother Han. I disagree with the night photos, x100 Ultra looks sharper and ultrawide is also better with more details in shadows. Even the night zoom photos x100 Ultra has more details in my opinionit just needs some optimization for light handling. Zoom night video you can clearly see that x100 ultra doesn't shake like x100 pro and 4k main cam video is great on both just a little better on the ultra. 4k daytime selfie video Vivo is a clear winner with better color rendition, dynamic range and mic sound. Daytime main and utrawide photos Vivo for sure better than Xiaomi here. Meanwhile in the zoom photos I think if you use 50mp or 200mp photo sampe from Vivo it outperforms any other phone in the zoom test. All in all they released a phone not so well optimized but it is in pair with other ultra phones. Give it just 2 months and you will see the change. With the first camera update thy're gonna fix 80% of the current camera performance. Great review as usual brother Han. I wanted to order x100 ultra but i will wait more for pixel 9 series or next gen ultra smartphones. +price of x100 ultra will drop by that time for sure so it is a win-win situation.
It would be interesting to revisit this Vivo X100 Ultra comparison in a few months, since the other phones have been out longer and have the benefit of several updates.
Ikr, the Vivo x100 ultra is not yet officially released yet. Perhaps, all the phones being sold have a pre-release software. We have to wait until they officially release it then we can judge it, there should be a software update waiting by the time it is officially released. I would say, so far the x100u has performed well against other flagships that has already received updates.

Oppo is a real ultra-king now. It have x100 pro -camera level and oppo is better in other smartphone aspects.

Xiaomi: it takes a super good photo and then in others the colorimetry goes on a trip and takes not so good photos. camera not very consistent. video recording, zoom takes a few seconds to focus, takes a few seconds to focus again. selfie video, xiaomi yellowish faces. Some units have condensation problems. vivo: it just came out, it needs updates but its younger brother the vivo x100 pro has a great camera and the ultra will be no less, great selfie, very usable raw and log video. oppo: it's a great phone, great camera, selfie not up to par, it blurs too much when taking photos, it doesn't focus well on the entire scene apparently. Very flat photos and video, very good colorimetry but without the possibility of vivid mode etc...

In my opinion, in terms of photo shooting, VIVO X100 Ultra clearly shoots better with more details over Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

Vivo X100 Ultra Failed, Xiaomi 14 Ultra is much better in terms of zoom and low light, which most of the smart phone makes it ultra because of quality of zoom lens it puts on a smartphone
In the first photo I go with A because the background wood color is more true than others, which made it a bit whiter than usual.
Also in the second photo I think Vivo did the best because when yooming in the face, Oppo is a bit dark and overshapened.
On the selfie no discussion needed at all, we all know which did best.
On the 4k daztime video I agree with you brother Han.
I disagree with the night photos, x100 Ultra looks sharper and ultrawide is also better with more details in shadows. Even the night zoom photos x100 Ultra has more details in my opinionit just needs some optimization for light handling.
Zoom night video you can clearly see that x100 ultra doesn't shake like x100 pro and 4k main cam video is great on both just a little better on the ultra.
4k daytime selfie video Vivo is a clear winner with better color rendition, dynamic range and mic sound.
Daytime main and utrawide photos Vivo for sure better than Xiaomi here.
Meanwhile in the zoom photos I think if you use 50mp or 200mp photo sampe from Vivo it outperforms any other phone in the zoom test.
All in all they released a phone not so well optimized but it is in pair with other ultra phones. Give it just 2 months and you will see the change. With the first camera update thy're gonna fix 80% of the current camera performance. Great review as usual brother Han.
I wanted to order x100 ultra but i will wait more for pixel 9 series or next gen ultra smartphones. +price of x100 ultra will drop by that time for sure so it is a win-win situation.

It would be interesting to revisit this Vivo X100 Ultra comparison in a few months, since the other phones have been out longer and have the benefit of several updates.
ikr, the phone is barely out, wihtout having any updates, and it will be technically out on 28th May, so then the model will get first updates.
Ikr, the Vivo x100 ultra is not yet officially released yet. Perhaps, all the phones being sold have a pre-release software. We have to wait until they officially release it then we can judge it, there should be a software update waiting by the time it is officially released. I would say, so far the x100u has performed well against other flagships that has already received updates.
by the time when this X100 will get optimized, Vivo will release Vivo X200 Pro, hahaha

Vivo x100 pro has been released with fhd camera on the front and after around a month updated to 4k which it's not a small update,soo expect improvement soon.
