OH i see why the combo's can kill in one go. the guard meter is maxed (the bar right under the health bar, which grows as they block and shrinks as they get comboed: it determines the damage for attacks linked i combos, if it is full via the enemy guarded alot and you just broke through their guard, it will do alot mroe damage than normal, but as a combo goes on they will take considerably less and less damage.
