I like your enthusiasm, and how even though we all know HMC isn't another Yelan or the best hydro unit in the game, you still took time to make sure to fully test it out and remain optimistic in pointing out a few positives it may have. This was a nice video

He might be not too bad for someone who started to play 1 hour ago and teleported to Fontain with only Amber in his team.
Interesting thing to consider with Nahida: the burn should damage the Traveler, if you are standing close enough. So for that team setup, your original idea of using the Glow set might be the way to go.

Man I was also disappointed when I tried the vourukasha set on him and saw that his HP drain didn't activate the passive... Happy to see there is still hope for the finger of death!

I use him with Layla for the shield and cryo application and Albedo for the off field damage, shields and his elevator for platform sniping. The last spot I swap in and out different characters sometimes Venti sometimes Fischl.

I've been maining HMC since 4.0 and the team and setup I finally settled on is.
Zhongli, bennet, venti, HMC focusing on vaporising the floating enemies.
When Venti doesn't work I replace him with either Jean or Kazuha for sunfire instead.
Im using the new skill focused artifact set and combining it with Nilous sword for HP and EM while using a HP build.
On average I get 20K vapes and 9K skill damage.
Not as good as others but decent enough.
Personally, I'm planning to use the Marechaussee Hunter Artifacts with my Hydro Traveler. Combine that with the Wolf Fang Sword from the Battle Pass and his Crit Rate will already be through the roof. The main Sub-Stats I'll focus on are Crit Damage and Attack%. Using that with the right Team Comp and he can actually do pretty good damage.
Truth be told it isn't really the damage that's lacking for the Hydro Traveler, his numbers actually aren't bad, MiHoYo was just lazy in making him interesting for anything except numbers.
The hydro set is pretty a much a clone of the anemo one. It has a decent hold E that pew-pew-pews, and then the kit is ruined by a burst that moves, so you have a character that can't perform at 100%. If this character had a hydro version of DMC's burst, the character would be well enough regarded. No Xingqiu, obviously, but still useful.
That said, the whole set not working well is par for the course for Traveler kits. Besides the moving bursts of anemo and hydro, electro has an issue where, to use the burst, you need energy, but to get energy, you lose the ability to battery a teammates, so, basically, you only get one skill. And for geo, you wind up with a very cluttered battlefield between the burst and E, hindering movement and attacks. The only one that avoids the issues is Dendro, with its Kaeya-style elemental skill and a circle impact burst that isn't super tiny like Collei's.
Overall, the dendro one is probably the most boring one. The others are more interesting, just not well polished from a usability standpoint.
Hey, I've been having some success with him and yae miko on some bosses.
Those numbers were not bad, considering you could get abit more from constellations.
My Hmc is good with furinas sword. He does 46k vapes with no buffs and just tapping the skill at c3 lvl 13 skill. I just dint have a good shielder to stand still while holding it down tho

Good job video, Hydro traveler Literally waste gameplay elemental damage potential without hydro infusion no cooldown passive, skill and burst not like Ayaka after dash cyro infusion way without skill first

Hate to breake it to you but you can only have max. 5 dendro cores on field before one of the cores will burst. Counting dendro cores above 5 as ICD is an unreliable method.

well HMC proudly claims the title worst hydro unit.
For overlowrd I ofc paired him with Dehya /worst pyro unit/ and Lynete /2nd worst anemo unit/.
I am having a blast killing trash mobs in Fontain. Epic batles even agins hilchurls!!!
Then cos I am not masochist enough I added Scara on prototype R5. He heals, he kills everything in few seconds and he flies around :)
btw I can recomend Dehya for underwater exploration. Her self healing is so good that you are immortal.
Dehya is, at worst, the third worst pyro unit, and with some constellations, moves ahead of Diluc and Thoma. I know people like to meme on her, but she's not the worst pyro. Heck, she's not even the worst five star. She is, however, the character with the most issues in her kit, and Hoyoverse should feel ashamed for still not having addressed that. Gives her a lot less viable teams than if they wanted to make her polished.
That said, DMC typically is the worst unit for their type. Worst electro? EMC. Worst anemo? AMC. Worst geo? GMC. The only exception is dendro. It'll be really interesting to see how they make PMC worse than Amber and CMC worse than Aloy ;)

AMC destroys all overworld enemies. He just scales bad late world levels.
EMC was a really good support for Eula. I didnt have Ficshl/Raiden at the time.
I think I will build my HMC as quickswap reverse vape pneuma unit. HMC have very beautiful burst. its a damn shame its so useless even at C2.
I use Dehya as alteranative shield unit on ToM in overworld. Sadly she feels worse than Xinyan. Why her interupt resistance doesnt persist during the whole skill duration is beyond me.
