I'm moving into my dorm at UT tomorrow and I'm binge watching all your videos! They're so helpful and definitely are helping calm my nerves. Thanks for your help!
Jacqueline Garcia Keep your grades up and take rigorous courses. UT looks at class rank so you need to be in the top of your class. Get at least a 1400 on the SAT or a 29 on the ACT with a good set of extracurricular activities and you should have a good shot.
@@jacquelinegarcia479 UT really looks at your class rank, so make sure you graduate at the top of your class and also get a decent SAT/Act score around 75th percentile. As a freshman, I would say that you really need to work hard in your grades because freshman year has the legit easiest classes you will take and they'll bump your GPA really high IMHO, I don't think UT is a really hard school to get into and I just got accepted to it with a LEGIT low SAT score, so I wouldn't stress too much about whether or not you'll get in
Very helpful, thank you! I just got in to UT as an out-of-state student and this was very helpful. Now I just wish I could find a TH-camr who got into my specific honors program, Polymathic...
Just wanted to let you know that sorry it has taken me so long but I just uploaded a study spots video! Also sorry I missed your comment earlier but I just got on the mailing list for my college
Hi! I am a future transfer student at UT Austin for this Fall 2020 semester. I really want to live in off campus apartment, but I want to live in an apartment where all the people living in the apartment chip in to pay for rent. I was wondering do you know of any places ? Preferably in North campus or Westside ?
Alayna Hernandez thank you! Yeah it's where I'd rather go given that it's way more liberal & diverse and has a better program for my major but in terms of grants, distance from home, and dorm conditions, A&M is better. I'll probably end up going to UT though because even with all of those factors, that's where I actually wanna go.
You are so insightful. Your delivery was perfect and you covered so many topics! I found the FIG program extremely interesting. I wasn't sure what you meant when you said you took a "FIG" class, can you explain what that is? Thank you so much!
Thank you! When you join a FIG there are a couple of classes that you have in common with the other people in your FIG as well as a FIG class. The FIG class meets once a week for an hour. You meet with a faculty member, an older student, and everyone else in your FIG and basically socialize, ask any questions about UT or your major that you may have, and learn about opportunities and resources for students on campus.
Thanks for this video I’m trying to decide what college to go to (even though I’m in 8th grade lol) but it was UT or A&M so I’m glad you made this so I think I know where I’m gonna go
I’m hoping to apply for an RTF major (and probably a psychology minor) to either UT or UNT so this video definitely gave some important info. Do you know whether or not UT students treat more artistic people differently or do people really not care too much? (What are the cons of UT compared to other colleges like UNT?) And also do you happen to know which dorm would be best if you are wanting to major at Moody?
Hey! I’m coming to Austin this summer from KY to visit the campus. We want to eat some tex mex and at some food trucks, and would like your suggestion for what you like. Also, is there anything that you think would be cool or what to do when I come to Austin? Thanks! Great video, by the way!
Hey! Hope you like UT when you come! Guero's is really good and its on South Congress which is a cool street you should def checkout w lots of cool restaurants and shops. There's also food trucks there. There's also The Picnic Food Truck Park next to Zilker. And on that same street is a ton of restaurants. You should def go to Zilker they have paddle boarding, swimming, and canoeing. Also The Cathedral of Junk is SUPER cool. You do have to make an appointment before you go tho. Hope that helps! Lemme know if you have any more questions.
JustAli hello i see both of you are RTF majors. I actually goth admitted to both the school and my major. However, I’m still a little undecided about attending because I feel like I’ll lack the skills. Do any of you have any advice?
I just applied to UT earlier this week and I hope I get in And i choose to major in health and society. Are some majors like mines not as difficult to get into or all majors difficult to get into UT
I don't know a ton about the health and society major, so I can't really answer your question about your major specifically. But some majors are easier and harder to get into and value different things in the admission process. Like for example, it is really hard to get into the business major and they really value GPA. Good luck! I hope you get in :)
This is a great video! I'm starting at UT in August and I'm taking astronomy 301. Since you mentioned you took an astronomy class do you have any tips for astronomy classes? Or UT courses in general?
It really depends a lot on your professor! Professors get a lot of freedom in how they teach the class. My astro professor gave us I think 6 tests and like 3 quizes and that was all of our grades whereas my friend took astro 301 with a different professor and they had weekly quizes but no tests. I thought my class's tests were kind of hard but she found her class's quizzes to be easy. So getting a good professor definitely helps! For astronomy I found that in order to do well I couldn't just memorize the astro concepts, I really had to understand them in order to do good on the tests. And having a study group was a life saver when I didn't understand things!
My school does not rank, but I have a pretty high GPA (3.94 UW, 4.65 W). I saw on the UT website that if your school does not rank, to send in your school's data and analytics. Is there still a chance to get auto-admitted, even though your school does not rank?
I made a lot of microwave food in my dorm like frozen pizzas, etc. There was also a kitchen in the basement of my dorm where me and my friends cooked desserts for fun a couple of times. But that was about it!
I don't know much about Greek life. Ive heard good things about sororities, I haven't heard of them doing any hazing and I know you get a big and little sister in sororities, and they do service work. As far as frats go, Ive heard mixed things. Ive heard of some having bad hazing and a lot of stereotypical frat things about some. But I also have two friends in frats who just had to run errands for their frat members as "hazing" and they really like their frat! So I think there are probably both good and bad sororities/frats at UT.
There are a lot of frat parties and I think they're fairly safe as long as you're smart about it. Always go with friends, don't loose or leave your friends, be conscious of what you're drinking, etc. I made a video on college parties that goes a lot more in depth about this!
I couldn't get the astronomy professor I wanted for my first semester at UT and I'm still super salty about it. I'm going to try my best next semester.
Aw bummer yeah registration can be stressful. I didn't get a lot of my top classes when registering for the fall either so I definitely feel your pain haha. But it definitely doesn't hurt to put yourself on a bunch of waitlist for classes!
I overall really love UT but here are a few things I dislike: The first couple classes in my major were kind of a waste of time in my opinion. They don't really delve into the major but are just kind of a basic overview of the major and some of the things we learn are very easy and kind of common sense in the first couple classes. I think it'd be more beneficial to cut some of the basic intro courses in my major and just delve in to actually learning what I need to know for my career. I'm not sure if this is true for all majors but I've heard a lot of people complain about this. I'm sure this is true for all colleges but UT definitely values sports, especially football over a lot of things. I would love to see them give more money to artistic majors and host/promote more arts and academic related events. Lastly, this isn't a big negative but more just something that is annoying. There are some things UT charges for that I dislike. Football tickets for one are really expensive and I have friends at other universities who get into all of their games for free as students. UT also charges for wifi that dosen't always work that well. And the dining halls and markets are a bit over priced for the quality of food that you get. But that's just my opinion! UT is also very liberal, both students and professors included, which I like but I could see if you had differing beliefs then that may make you a bit uncomfortable. But overall the pros definitely outweigh some of the negatives.
I honestly don't know a ton about the sororities as I'm not in one and I don't have any friends in one but there are some great online forums that could probably tell you a lot more about them like talk.collegeconfidential.com is a great one!
Wow this is clickbate 😤😤😤 it’s 19 tips not 20!! Smh hahaha just kidding! But this was such a helpful video! Thank you so much I’m planning to attend the fall of next year ☺️

THIS WAS SO HELPFUL OMG THANKU!
can you also make a specific video about your major? like what classes youve taken, how you liked them etc? also yes to the study spots

what’s your favorite restaurant? mine is Fat Sals!! if u haven’t tried it you should, it’s amazing!
Ooo fat sals is really good. Love their milkshakes. I love like everything on South Congress! Its tough to decide, but Hopdoddy might be my favorite
What about sports in @ UT? Do they have football , soccer , basketball team and how good are they?
Loved this💚
could you suggest some good dorms? and is it a good idea to live on campus res hall for freshmen year?
Hey! I'm going to be a RTF major at UT this year & you seem super cool, I'd love to meet you sometime!! :)
Talee Jones Yay another RTF major! And yeah we should totally get lunch or something sometime in the fall!

How hard is ACT and SAT
It depends if you're a good test taker or not. I took a summer class that prepared me for the SAT which is really helpful!
What's your major?
Radio Television Film!

Yes there are separate bathrooms for girls and guys
