What makes Guardiola, Klopp, Paisley, Ferguson, Shankly, Clough etc so special? I think its an indefinable leadership quality that gets respect from the players even when unpopular decisions are made because the manager is "the boss". Its an interesting ingredient as personalities are so different. Klopp, Shankly, Clough extroverts. Paisley, Ferguson, Guardiola perhaps quieter and sometimes bordering introvert.

He was abysmal at Villa, I've never seen anything like it, and in part thats on Villa as we should not have been sold on the idea of Gerrard the legend. Although its too late, he really should been an assistant manager first.
But maybe this is the next best thing as you do learn from your mistakes and if he is wise, he will have analyzed his Villa team and the Villa team now, while assessing what kind of Manager Emery is and how he was able to turn the team around 180 degrees.
