Grew up with both cats and dogs, but lately have only had cats. I think just a little easier to take care of, for example don’t have to be taken outside during bad weather.

I love both! We have a long haired cat and a shedding dog so the pet hair problem is real in our household! Thanks for the tips, but im also wondering if you have any tips for getting pet hair out of clothing? Even after washing some fabrics (especially fleecy types) it seems to stay embedded in?

This! And nothing let's you know this happens better than navy blue sheets. Literally have to pull each hair out. Don't use navy sheets? I don't want to just not SEE the hair -- I want to get RID of it!

Before washing, use a lint roller. During washing, use silicone washer balls, which are "sticky", and reusable. After washing, hang dry, or use dryer sheets. During folding, have a lint roller handy.

I found a couple of rubber collectors in Walgreens, you throw them in the dryer and work pretty good for removing dog hair. When I went to buy more I didn't find them. Maybe...

It seems I'm doomed to live my entire life sharing a home with fur covered family members. I've never gone looking for them....they've just found me. My husband, however, always said he didn't like cats and wanted nothing to do with them. Married to me he's had to live with them and, it seems, they're fascinated with him. As soon as I open the bedroom door in the morning at least one cat is waiting to get in because.....they love to snuggle in with him. He's now their designated cat rack.

You’re a lifesaver! I’ve had a cat for 6 years now and I’m obsessed over how much cat hair winds up on my sofa and loveseats, especially when I or anyone else wants to sit down. Not to mention the times when my cat likes to climb on the dining room table and leaves cat hair on my tablecloth. Till now I’ve washed my tablecloth in the laundry when it gets too messy. I like the idea of removing the hair with rubber gloves which would save me a lot of hassle.

Yes I too deal everyday with tons of pet hair . We have two cats (one who sheds constantly even with daily brushing) and two dogs.
It's been such a part of my life for so long that it would seem strange if I were to suddenly stop dealing with it !!
It's totally worth it all though to have these sweet animals in my life!!!

Super helpful video! I wish I'd seen this before we started converting to non-fabric furniture pieces because of our Husky-Malamute mix.
If you could do a video on laundry tips for pet owners, that would be great! We end up with her hair woven into clothes even after going through the washer and dryer despite using wool balls and multiple dryer sheets.

I recently bought a Bissell pet hair eraser turbo, and it's pretty amazing. My 10 year old long haired, super floofy, part Maine Coon, kitty molts year round, and not just a bit like what I'm seeing in your video. I have enough cat hair in my house to make an entire new cat every day! But the vaccum cleaner brush roll is tangle free, even my long blonde hair doesn't get caught around it! Phenomenal!

I'm a cat person. We have 4! At this point, I've just accepted that I live a fuzzy life. We do our best with the cat hair, but I'm never going to have a completely pet hair-free home. It just is what it is. For when we really gotta look spiffy: the dollar store has these lint brushes, it's like a red fuzzy fabric with the nap going in one direction attached to a handle. I find that they work really well on both upholstered surfaces and clothing, and they're less wasteful than disposable roller sheets.

I first saw the rubber glove trick to clean fur from furniture several years ago, and I got so excited that it worked that I decided to try one step further, so I thought I'd pet my cat with the gloves on to remove loose fur directly from the source. She then stood up on her hind legs, latched onto my skull, and sang me the battle song of her people while blood trickled down the sides of my face. This four pound rage meatball tried to kill me, but the couch looked great!

I don't currently have pets, I like both but prefer smaller dogs.
I've used all those methods effectively over the years. On carpeted floors I use a broom that has silicon or rubber bristles to get up hair (especially my long hair). This helps get up hair that doesn't always come up with a vacuum, plus minimizes the amount of hair that gets wrapped around the the vacuum roller. I remove hair from around the roller after every 2 or 3 uses.

In my experience, any litter that is made of small pieces (e.g. clay, silica, wheat, corn, grass) is going to track a lot. My solution was to skip the small litter mats. Instead, I bought a bigger area rug, specifically a rubber-backed indoor/outdoor one with low pile, to put under the litter box. Because the cats walk on it a few steps more, more litter is knocked off their paws and much less gets tracked around the house. The low pile makes it easy to vacuum.
Another solution is to use pellet litter of some kind if your cats can become accustomed to it (not all can). Because the pieces are bigger, not as much tracks out of the litter box in the first place and the pieces that do end up outside of it don't travel as far as smaller litter (as long as your cat doesn't kick litter out of the box or play with the pellets, of course).

One should have 2 litter boxes per cat. Hopefully you can find find spots for 5 or 6 boxes in your apartment. Maybe you could try potty training them. Then there would be less litter tracked. 😉

I use a shoe to get pet hair (or human hair) cleaned up from carpet or rugs... similar to the rubber gloves and squeegee, it makes the hair ball up with zero effort. If there's a lot of hair on a rug that is hard to vacuum, the bottom of tennis shoes is very effective!
I'm going to use the rubber gloves on furniture though 😄
Q/A: I thought I was a cat person but after several years of fostering dozens of kitties, I'm more of a dog person... for my home anyway. Dogs go potty OUTSIDE! And my dog has me spoiled with her mellow personality and she literally never drools or licks us. I guess I'm both? Or neither? IDK 😆

When I see the amount of dog hair in my vacuum canister I ask the dogs, "why aren't you naked"?

I put a half cup of vinegar in the wash, it helps to keep cat hair from clinging to my clothes.

I'm a both person, but currently have cats. I struggle with the cat hair on a hard surfaces. They tend to smear around rather than get picked up by the wet cloth.

That’s my problem too! Bathrooms are specially problematic, with humidity the hair sticks everywhere, and when cleaning you seem to extend it even more… anyone has any tips? Thanks!

As a person with 9 cats . All long hair . The best tool to get pet hair off furniture is a damp paper towel. You had the right idea with microfiber cloth but then you have to wash the cloth and you will need to remove the hair before . I really like all of your videos . Huge fans for years but I feel this video was not up to your usual high standards. Also when doing the laundry there are hair float traps to add to your washer. There also now pet lint sheets to throw into the dryer now. So many options on the market now.
