Great App. About to purchase it. One question - when i add an inter app audio input (for e.g.novation launchpad) and I trigger a pre recorded rhythm loop in launchpad, and when I start recording an audio loop in loopy pro, it also records the audio from the loop playing in launchpad. How can I avoid that? Your feedback would be very helpful.
Ahhh. So have a look at the mixer video in this series but you can dictate where and which loops record to where. Sounds like the launchpad’s destinations are also going to the loops as well as the output.
I am new to Loopy Pro I have a I Pad, Spark Live guitar amp, MPC218 or MPC Mini. Not sure the best way to connect it all and I can record loops with mic on IPad but not sure how to get it direct from amp.
Hey 👋 Oooh the spark live amp. Very nice! 👍 So I would be plugging the guitar and vocals into the amp and then using the USBC on the back of the spark amp (the audio/data one) to send the feeds over to loopy pro. Loopy should recognise it and then you can setup your loops. As it’s a 2in and 2 out audio interface as well as an amp you would have 1 channel as the vocal and the other as the guitar going in and then loopy pro would pump a stereo signal out back to the amp. The tricky one is the MPC218 or MPC Mini. I would invest in a way to power this and then higher the WIDI jack to send the info over, via Bluetooth to the iPad so you can use it for keys or drums or samples or control of loopy.
i have the arturia minifuse two now. What is the best way of getting my loopy pro creations into a PA or combo map - usually they have Combo Jack input (mic or line) and sometimes I have either LR phonos aux in or more commonly 3.5 mm jack aux in for mobile devices. What is the best way or connection type for my own amp? I have tried singing live and often am faced with an in house mixer - any thoughts on the best solutions for those open mics situations when I dont have my own amp? (XLR?) or two jacks / phonos? This is basic but is confusing me. thanks

Okay. So the old irig I’m guessing is Jack TRRS (3 rings on the sleeve) and using the lightening to 3.5mm jack didn’t work. This might be because of the way the adapter is made. The 3.5mm adapter might be audio out only. Is it an Apple one? The Apple one is TRRS and allows for the mic input (what you would get on their EarPods.. headphones and a mic) as well as the stereo out left and right. Search for a Lightening to TRRS adapter. 👍🏻 Or if USBC, be aware not all USBC adapters are made equally. Make sure the jack end is TRRS.
I currently have the following setup and wondering how I would incorporate an iPad running Loopy Pro: Guitar-->Line6 HX Effects-->Mixer->Pa Speakers. I then plug an iPhone directly into the mixer via USB to live stream all performances. Where on earth do I put Loopy Pro in this setup? Thanks!
That’s a very good question. My answer, I’m afraid is a question. Does it have a sub group or Fx send/ return that you would normally use for FX? You could use that. So don’t change your setup but just add the looper into the FX send and rerun of the mixer. This way you can send the right amount to the mixer you want and then it’s coming back into the PA. Downside is you would need something to plug into the iPad. Jack to mini jack/2nd audio interface. If that’s not feasible then the 2nd option is you plug the line 6 HX into the iPad/Loopy Pro via USB (might need an adapter for that) and use its audio internal audio interface to send and return the audio which will then hit the mixer with the HX.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I have the iPad plugged into the HX Effect via USB. I can get the loops to record but there’s no output of sound coming back to the HX Effects to be sent to the mixer. Is this a setting in Loopy Pro or the HX Effects?
Either. To check loopy Pro, hit the mixer button and just check there is audio both in and out via the input channel strip on loopy pro. You can also select the input output above this (should say channel 1&2 if stereo). If it does and you can record and you can see audio coming out the main output on the loopy pro mixer, then it’s the HX. You need to see in the output or routing (sorry I don’t own one) if USB audio is there and turned up. Hope that helps.

With the lightening cable side you may still need to use the camera adapter as it will need power. A straight lightening to Usbc cable might not do it alone.
How do you send the click track to the headphones only? I am using Loopy Pro on an iPhone with the USB and lightning adapter plugged into an audio interface. The loopy metronome keeps playing out loud on my iPhone speaker, and is not coming through the headphones. Thanks for your help!
What hardware do you recommend if I want to use the MPC Mini Play Keyboards onboard sounds and have loopy pro record them into my project? Previously I tried the iRig Pro I/O and had success for a while but may be confused on which cables are needed.
So the MPC Mini Play is fantastic but if you want the internal sounds, you will need 1 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone output to an audio interface, either aux 1 1/8” in or cable split to be inputs 1&2 for Jack. The USB is for midi control only and doesn’t send the internal audio out unfortunately. Great thing with some audio interfaces now is that they will include midi in usb and traditional 5 pin. Hey 👋 So a lot of audio interfaces will have a low delay but it might be the effect that is causing this. I personally have used the Arturia MiniFuse series and my Arturia AudioFuse Studio and they work great. 👍🏻
Hey 👋 Thanks and by default Loopy Pro is mapped with the following: - Akai APC40 Mk2 - Launchpad Pro Mk3 - Launchpad X - Launchpad Mini Mk3 - MIDI Fighter Twister However you can map anything with midi learn in the system. 👍🏻
Hi. I know this isn’t a forum, but maybe you could help. Can I connect the hyperdrive directly to a gen7 iPad or do I need an adapter, and is it worth it simply to invest in an up to date iPad for making music with loopy pro or other midi and audio software?
That’s a great question and not a problem asking it here. The hyperdrive is Usbc and you would need an adapter (apples camera adapter) to get UsbA. In short, no. You don’t need the latest but you will be connection a UsbA audio interface and the great part is they are coming down in price. 👍🏻 eventually you will need to upgrade as apps require a minimum iOS but for now, you should be fine. 😊
Great vids John! Any ideas, I’m only getting audio out of 1 channel when going through behringer interface. Is there a setting to fix this? Cheers scott
You need to have a look at the input if it’s only coming in on the 1 channel then you might have a stereo in but only feeding one channel and need to change it to a mono track. Go to episode 4 but have a look at the top of the input where the mic icon is and tap it. You can change it there. 👍🏻
Hey JP, wondering how you would accomodate my desire to have a direct ‘thru’ for microphone and guitar. So that if something goes wrong, then you still have the basics unaffected.I suppose you could do this with a audio interface?? I’m not sure.
Hey how are you, I have a problem that's probably an easy fix, but since im a beginner im a bit struggling to find a solution, im using some bluetooth earphones ( soundcore a40 ) but whenever im recording there's always a delay between what im actually playing and what i hear in my ears from the earphones?
Hey. 👋 Yeah unfortunately there will always be a delay as Bluetooth in its current form has too much of a delay. You will have to use wired and the best would be with an audio interface.
Ive been trying for hours to connect an external mic via an audio interface that is connected to my computer and i can’t even get loopy pro to give me hardware channel options other 1 and 2. Both my UMC204 and Boss RC 505 mk2 connect fine simultaneously with my mac and my ipad but for some reason loopy pro doesn’t recognize them at all even after enabling Multiroute Audio in loopy pro settings . Still nothing. Tried connecting them all via ableton as well since you can select multiple channels with ableton and still nothing. I haven’t tried connecting only the audio interface to the ipad by itself , but that defeats the purpose of what im trying to do having ableton sounds with midi keyboard functionality and an external microphone plugged into an audio interface. There’s probably a way but i’ve already spent 4 hours on it and youtube videos aren’t helping at all. So im forced to just use the ipad mic which is nowhere as nice as a real one.
thanks but as the comment i made says that is not what im looking for . i want to connect to multiple devices like i wrote above. i guess you don’t know either.thanks anyways. ill just stick with my boss rc 505 as i can connect it to several devices simultaneously.
Can you please list the hardware you are using in the video? I have a camera adapter, with power going into the lightning in that powers my iPad. However when I plug my audio interface into the camera adapter USB no power it is not powered. Would be good to compare your set up to mine to help with debugging. Thanks!
So it depends if I’m at home or on stage. I use everything I’ve mentioned in the video. Home - I use the Arturia AudioFuse Studio if I am connecting a keyboard and a controller (APC40mkii) as well as my inputs. That is normally for the studio as it’s big and a lot of setup. Live / Stage - then it’s the MiniFuse 2 with iPad’s USB-C cable straight in and with guitar and mic and the Boss FS-1-WL with an FS-6 and expression pedal connected for wireless foot switches. 👍🏻
Regarding your issue will, are you using the right iPad plug? The new iPads have a 20w plug and the old iPhone ones were 5w. I’ve found many people have mixed them up and the old iPhone one it’s not delivering enough power. What is the audio interface and how much power does it need?
yeah i just came to video to say that i have this issues too with old iphones/ipads - even if you connect it to camera adapter with power they still can't power different usb devices/audio interfaces (i can't do this on my iphone 8 but my friends says he can do this on his iphone 11, i guess this because older iphones doesnt have reverse charging), so you need USB hub with external power so chain will be -> audio interface to -> powered hub to -> camera connection to -> iphone. and tbh this connection is bad, you can easily lose connection (happens to me a lot of times) But after 2 years of struggling i bough ipad air 2022 with type-c and forgot about all this problem with "lose connection", type-c hubs (especially with detachable type-c cables) much more better and cheaper than camera adapter
I have a Korg Kronos, and I connect a Ipad through the Camera adapter to the usb in on the synth. Loopy Pro does not seem to understand a few things. First, it is very easy to overdrive. Loopy just gets overpowered by the standing signal from the Kronos and starts a massive feedback loop. There are no even any microphones connected. Then, when I lower the output to almost nothing, loopy records a track, but every track after that has all the previous tracks re recorded. Does this mean I need a audio interface even though the Kronos has one built in?
With synths that have audio interfaces built in, it may very well be sending the signal back through the Kronos. I’ve seen this before. Check the Kronos input and make sure Loopy pro isn’t sending back to the Kronos and your hearing it twice. If so, just turn down the input send (not the output send) of the Kronos down to zero. Let me know if it’s that and that helps.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK So you're saying there is a setting inside the Kronos that needs to be adjusted or a setting in the loopy pro app? I have tried lowering the volume in the Kronos, and that just prevents me from hearing what was recorded in Loopy Pro, because the volume in from the ipad to the Kronos is off (in Kronos)
Oh great, finally someone with the Arturia Audio Fuse Studio, it isn't _that_ expensive so that it's never shown on YT 🙂 Well, kidding mostly but yes, it's a €1.000 audio interface (in Sweden where I live) and it's top notch! I've just started with the Loopy Pro so I'm gonna be watching all your video about it, appreciate you taking the time and effort. I'm thinking about the best live setup for me (only acoustic guitar(s) and singing) so a simple 2 channel audio interface would do. I still have my trusty old Apogee Duo if anybody remembers that one, great sound but a bit cumbersome with the cables hanging all around the place - needs securing it all in a box or taping it well somehow. But hey, it's a challenge and something new and inspiring to try out. Cheers!
That’s all good. If you invested in a new 2in 2Out audio interface, you could get USB-C one and then a lot of the issues with cables would be simplified. 👍🏻
@@georgefenning4844 Hi George! Basically I connect the outputs of any audio interface to a channel on an amp, or to two channels on a mixing board - PA.. There are cables that accommodate two line out (tele jacks) and combine these into one, thus making it mono. I'm sure there are more options if connected with a PA...

Hey 👋
So a lot of audio interfaces will have a low delay but it might be the effect that is causing this.
I personally have used the Arturia MiniFuse series and my Arturia AudioFuse Studio and they work great. 👍🏻
@@JohnPaulMusicUKthank you
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. They are very helpful. Do you know what controllers are setup with automapping?
Hey 👋
Thanks and by default Loopy Pro is mapped with the following:
- Akai APC40 Mk2
- Launchpad Pro Mk3
- Launchpad X
- Launchpad Mini Mk3
- MIDI Fighter Twister
However you can map anything with midi learn in the system. 👍🏻
Hey John. Thank you so
much for what you are doing! What USB C HUB(s) do you use? Kindest, Moritz
So incredibly clear! Thank you x1000000

Hey JP, wondering how you would accomodate my desire to have a direct ‘thru’ for microphone and guitar. So that if something goes wrong, then you still have the basics unaffected.I suppose you could do this with a audio interface?? I’m not sure.
You have kinda answered your own question. Yes an audio interface that is powered independently of the iPad would do just that. 👍🏻
Hey how are you, I have a problem that's probably an easy fix, but since im a beginner im a bit struggling to find a solution, im using some bluetooth earphones ( soundcore a40 ) but whenever im recording there's always a delay between what im actually playing and what i hear in my ears from the earphones?
Hey. 👋
Yeah unfortunately there will always be a delay as Bluetooth in its current form has too much of a delay. You will have to use wired and the best would be with an audio interface.
Hi there, I have Ik multimedia axe I/o how would be the best way to connect with loopy pro?
Connect it directly to the iPad.
thanks but as the comment i made says that is not what im looking for . i want to connect to multiple devices like i wrote above. i guess you don’t know either.thanks anyways. ill just stick with my boss rc 505 as i can connect it to several devices simultaneously.
@@JohnPaulMusicUKand as i previously stated , it is not recognizing even one interface connected to it.
Has anyone updated to iOS 16.5 and has yout apple camerq connector hast stoppee charging your ipad? Know any way yo work around it?
What is the audio interface and how much power does it need?
yeah i just came to video to say that i have this issues too with old iphones/ipads - even if you connect it to camera adapter with power they still can't power different usb devices/audio interfaces (i can't do this on my iphone 8 but my friends says he can do this on his iphone 11, i guess this because older iphones doesnt have reverse charging), so you need USB hub with external power so chain will be -> audio interface to -> powered hub to -> camera connection to -> iphone. and tbh this connection is bad, you can easily lose connection (happens to me a lot of times)
But after 2 years of struggling i bough ipad air 2022 with type-c and forgot about all this problem with "lose connection", type-c hubs (especially with detachable type-c cables) much more better and cheaper than camera adapter
Can you use an Airstep foot switch to control App?
Yes
Many thanks JP!
The 1st link to the Lightning to USB3 Adapter is wrong
Ahhh thank you for letting me know.
I’ll get it changed.
Updated. Should be working now. 👍🏻
thank you
Welcome 🙏

Agree with your comments. How do you get your
interface into pa or amp for live use ? Fancy meeting you here Mac. Hope all is well with you
@@georgefenning4844 Hi George! Basically I connect the outputs of any audio interface to a channel on an amp, or to two channels on a mixing board - PA.. There are cables that accommodate two line out (tele jacks) and combine these into one, thus making it mono. I'm sure there are more options if connected with a PA...
@@HomesickMac Hello Mac, Would it be OK ot email you on this subject at some point. ? I have an arturia minifuse 2 which i bought because of the hub and USB C connectiion. Loopy Pro seems very flexible. My stumbling block is the ipads difficulty in interfacing with anything. Am I correct in the assumption that the audio interface is necessary as a way of connecting the ipad reliably to an amp? AT present, I use the ipad wirelessly (bluetooth) into a boss amp and play along with my tracks. I have not set things up yet for live playing . I need this sorted for a performance on 18 October .. ! eek Are you currently using the audio interface live on a stage for voice and guitar (plus ipad of course) . im keen to use a stereo amp as I can make use of the field width for certain things. ?? Nice to hear from you. Thanks Mac

Have you checked on the mixer in loopy pro how it’s selected?
IPad Pro (USB-C) to USB-C Hub with power pass through and 3 USB-C ports, 105w USB-C power supply, and Zoom U-24 interface. Krisdonia 50000mAh power bank when you want to go portable.
Nice setup!! 👌
What USB C Hub do you use? 🙏
iRig - forgotten?
Ahhhh yeah! Fair shout
Shows nothing about making Loopy Pro see the inputs.
That’s the mixer video - have a look: th-cam.com/video/LVlcXiqrtaQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y9vYI0D0LTW5AkUq
