Hi Nelle, great to hear you have gotten off to such a great start at university. So nice to hear your update.

Hope you’re doing good now. I’m starting uni this September and I’m moderately deaf in both ears.
Quite nervous that people will judge me and think I’m stupid when I’m not engaging with social situations or think I’m not smart enough to be in the class.

Hi, I'm doing very well. Personally, I haven't had any problems with people being unkind to me or anything. I've had a very positive overall experience. I hope it goes well for you. :)

Hi again Nelle💖first off thank you for finding a different way to caption your video's! The big print helps but it was also funny! If you watch some it cannot say cochlear implant instead you have a cocktail implant 🤣have you jazzed your implant up as it looked white & very cool,I could not see your hearing aid though..
You will always get one rude person like that girl but you handled it ok,it must have been hard explaining to that guy about your deafness & implant etc, there is not enough done to educate people about deafness!
I am glad your Spanish is going well,I struggle to lipread people speaking English but to lipread Spanish is something else! Well done for getting paid for your blogs! Also I used to watch see hear on BBC 2 it was so helpful & the sign zone!
So good luck with your uni work & look forward to more videos & watching them on the other channel,I am still trying to donate when I can to your go fund me page to get your other ear implanted! I think more than ever that you will benefit no end having the other ear implanted! If there is a minor downside when the implants are out of each ear its total silence but from what you said you don't hear much with a hearing aid! 💗

Thank you! Sorry about the subtitles. I did check and edit them, but I was so tired yesterday that I must have messed it up (hence cocktail implants). I'm glad you found the new style easier to read. I changed the colour of the battery cover and coil on my processor so it's now brown and white. I wasn't wearing my hearing aid in this video so that's why you can't see it.
      Nelle :)

@@nellefindlay please don't think the subtitle mistake was a criticism, the cocktail implant just made me laugh! Your bound to be tired as uni work is hard & hearing fatigue comes in to it!
It's now been around 18mths since you lost your hearing & I know nobody likes being deaf after having normal hearing but I am curious do you think your achieving more since you lost your hearing? If you had not lost your hearing do you think you would have still been working at the dentist & maybe not gone to uni?as since you have lost your hearing you seem to be doing more like going to uni & learning more Spanish & BSL! Also I have to say your video's get more professional each time you post one,and I think you will help a lot more people of your age who suddenly lose their hearing! You proudly show off your implant and not cover it with your hair! And you get to go to university so well done 💖

Hello Nelle. Sounds like you've had a semester of fun in 2 weeks! People can be such doughnuts. No matter how often you explain, their preconceived notions refuse to leave. The girl that was rude to you sounds like a fun challenge. Maybe offer her a few sign language swear words, so if she wants to be rude, you can at least understand her!! Had a listen to Greta Van Fleet, excellent stuff. Two more for you to try - The Pineapple Thief and Pure Reason Revolution. Take care and have fun with the vlogging.

Thank you! I considered leaving a note on the door to their flat with instructions for 'how to handle an encounter with a deaf person in the wild', but I decided that might come across a little passive aggressive. I'm glad you liked Greta Van Fleet. Thank you for the recommendations. :)

@@nellefindlay A deaf in the wild sign would be hilarious. It might be that she's nervous and that's her fallback. A bit like speaking different languages. I have no doubt your humour will defeat them in the end.

Most people don’t understand that CI is nerve stimulation vs HA which amplify sounds.

Yes, that is true. It's weird to me that some people have never seen them before or have no idea what they are when it is something that has become so normal to me.
I think in general people are becoming more aware of hearing loss these days which is really positive and I always try to educate people as best I can (although I'm no expert).
