Magnificent! WOW! Animated arms... and the wonderful sound effect of the whirring and clicking. Just amazing! Thanks, and I hope you show us an update soon.
Hi Stuart. Thanks for the codos! The arms took about 2 years of R&D and building. I has about 5 failed attempts. I'd currently doing some prototyping on a different rail drive system to move the arms out of the torso. The cable system I now have is too clunky and big. Stay tuned!
@@DavidSchulpius Thanks for replying, David! Or did you have the robot do it? I’ve seen lots of B-9’s, being one of the millions who’ve loved him as long as we remember, but I don’t know if I’ve seen another with motorized arms, or one that emits that simple, perfect sound effect. Are there others? I’m almost certain that I haven’t seen one with both. The sound effect has impressed me all of my life as a detail that someone on the show had a right to feel proud of. It convincing suggests complex mechanics, it’s loud enough to be heard but quiet enough to be unobtrusive, and it’s unique. I’ve always considered it to be as indispensably a part of the robot as the bubble, and found it odd that it’s never mentioned by fans (or so rarely that I’ve never found it mentioned), and hearing yours make the iconic sound gives it an impression of being the real deal! I’m in a rush, but do you recall seeing or hearing about the robot’s commercial for a lawnmower that aired during the series’s original run? More soon. Thanks!
Dave - this is wonderful. You are amazing to be able to do this. I wish I had a full-size B9 at my house. He was my favorite member of the LIS cast. I guess I will have to be happy with my battery operated B9 that speaks and lights up. Xoxoxo
Thanks EvieRose. Rita was a wonderful person and I miss her smile and laugh. Were you at her memorial yesterday? She had many friends and family show up.
Thanks for the interest. I've got a lot of this work documented on a thread on the EZ Robot Forum here: www.ez-robot.com/Community/Forum/posts.aspx?threadId=2263 Also I've got a lot of build pictures on SmugMug here: dreampins.smugmug.com/Other/BOP/n-9Fsng/ Enjoy!
Thanks kindly Johnny. You can have one just like this. Build one. It's a challenge but well worth the effort. For me it is an accomplishment of a lifetime.
Wow. Just....wow! This is simply amazing. Did you create a log as you were building this? My dream is to build one, but now I want all of these features as well! The voice recognition is awesome. Great work.
Thanks Derwin. No log. sorry. Go ahead and build your dreams! Visit the B9 Robot Builders club website and get started! www.b9robotbuildersclub.com/index.html
Great job on the Robot sir. Could you program the Robot to respond with " Sorry Dave, I can't do that " whenver you ask him to do something he does not understand.
I don't think I ever saw one fully articulated. Now you just need to get it to roll around. Won't be too many more years before AI systems will allow you to mount a small, indiscrete camera and he will be nearly fully autonomous.
You would have put Bob May out of a job with this thing. Bob’s happy computer chips and servo technology wasn’t anywhere near today’s or the studio might have gone with a completely animated robot.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it would be nice to have the function of Alexa and still have the robot's voice answer. There are some builders trying to use AI to do something like this. They're getting close.
Sorry for your loss ....thank you for sharing this amazing machine
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
You did an incredible job in this Build. Hard to call it a build as you truly brought Robot to life ! Truly AWESOME!
So cool Dave! Amazing work! Blessings to your friend Rita.

Love your Robot!! Amazing and may your friend Rita RIP
Thanks you so much.
This is the best animated B9 robot that I have ever seen , very well done.
Wow Nick, Thanks for these very kind words. He's a labor of love and still is.
I grew up with Rita Fox and she told me about your work and i think it is awesome
Thanks EvieRose. Rita was a wonderful person and I miss her smile and laugh. Were you at her memorial yesterday? She had many friends and family show up.

That movement is incredible Dave!
Very cool. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

This is the 1st B-9 I've seen that has arms that move electronically.
Same here.
This is totally awesome! B9 is real!@
you sir are a genius I'd love to have one just like yours!!!!!!
Thanks kindly Johnny. You can have one just like this. Build one. It's a challenge but well worth the effort. For me it is an accomplishment of a lifetime.
Really cool. Like the changes

Maravilhoso! Queria um desse no meu quarto, 1970 eu era fã da série perdidos no espaço (lost in space )
Great job on the Robot sir.
Could you program the Robot to respond with " Sorry Dave, I can't do that "

Cool!
Wow Your a Genius
Thanks man!
Sir that's amazing 👌

yes I was there
He hears you and has a reaction.
Indeed. Next you'll be telling me that he's thin-skinned.
Don't call him Ninny. He's our friend
So you think bubbleheaded booby is better? Or cowardly clump?
@@johntapp1650 I always liked Neanderthal Ninny.
Any way to speed the servos up?
The main elbow motor is a DC windshield wiper type motor that is driven by a worm gear. It's going as fast as it can.
You would have put Bob May out of a job with this thing. Bob’s happy computer chips and servo technology wasn’t anywhere near today’s or the studio might have gone with a completely animated robot.
Thanks for the kind words.
Add voice CRUSH! KILL! DESTROY!. Add an electric arch in the claws
Too bad you can’t incorporate Alexa or Siri to have the robot voice….
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it would be nice to have the function of Alexa and still have the robot's voice answer. There are some builders trying to use AI to do something like this. They're getting close.
Does that robot b9 move
Hi Stephen, He does not roll around the house. He just stands there and looks really cool.
