Although not following the suggested schedule I will read Sense and sensibility. I’ll also watch the film with Emma Thompson. It never grows old. My favourite JA remains Persuasion.
I will try to take part in this and read pride and prejudice for the first time. That should be a good detour from the fantasy books I've been trying to go through
What I'll do is re-read my personal favorite Jane Austen novel - which is probably not most people's favorite Jane Austen novel - Northanger Abbey! Because I love Gothic literature and because I love how Austen sends-up Gothic literature! I think it's her funniest book, though I grant it's not her best book. But it's my favorite. 😊
Steve my mother and I are huge fans of Pride & Prejudice. We have watched the BBC presentation of Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth which is our favorite to watch. I recently bought the book What Kitty Did Next by Carrie Kablean which is a follow up to Pride & Prejudice but I haven’t read it yet. Have you read it ?
Since I had never read a Jane Austen book and heard about the challenge on Hannah's channel I will be reading Pride and Prejudice as it is on my shelf. I am enjoying "catching up" with some of the books that most have read when they were much younger. As far reading more than one of the challenges that remains to be seen. Slow reader here. ☺📚🐕
I love the idea of readalongs but I'm the worst when it comes to following prompts. 🤷🏼♀ I'm planning to reread Sense and Sensibility (not my favorite) because it's the group read and I've already re-watched the 1997 adaptation which I do really like. I _might_ reread Persuasion which is my favorite, well...along with Pride and Prejudice. 🙄 📚
I'm going to read Sense and Sensibility (it's the last of the big 6 for me). I've already read a new Australian YA retelling of P&P, Stuck Up and Stupid by actor (and reader and Austen fan) Angourie Rice and her playwright mother, Kate Rice. I enjoyed it more than I suspected I was going to. I have a gorgeous nonfiction called Jane Austen's Wardrobe that I'm very excited to get to. Also, I did just try to email you, but it isn't making it out of my outbox. Obviously I replaced the at sign in the address listed, but must be missing something else in the translation. What am I missing?
I might read Emma and watch Clueless. I don't know if I'll do anything else. July is when the Scottish holidays take place, which usually means grandparents have less, rather than more, free time! About the physical books - I have a Folio set of Jane Austen's works that I've had for more than 30 years, and which I love. But something I've been wondering Steve - what on earth do you do to your books to give them such a hard life? You so often say "This won't survive another reading" - Do you read them in the shower?!?
The second week of Rocket Summer doesn't interest me as much as the first, third, and fourth. So, i think i will also be rereading Pride and Prejudice.

For a biography, I enjoyed Claire Tomalin's biography of Jane Austen. 😊
I'm rereading Pride and Prejudice too! Not boring at all, I'm so excited and my edition is annotated! 😍
What book is the thumbnail from?
Persuasion is her best work in my humble opinion
I have that Penguin Deluxe edition. It’s beautiful

I'm planning to read Frankenstein and Sense and Sensibility

For viewing, I love the BBC Persuasion from the mid-90s with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds. So perfect!
@@Old_Scot Yes! That's my favorite!
I just reread "Pride and prejudice". I love it so. I think I have only read "Persuasion". What would you recommend for the next Jane Austen to read?
I think I’m only going to read Emma. I read Pride and Prejudice this year for the first time and have wanting to read more Jane Austen.

I don’t understand why this isn’t JUNE Austen! I’m going to read my first Austen novel ever this month so probably Pride and Prejudice for me also
Pride and Prejudice - you have good taste,
I just last night read Mark Twain on Jane Austen -- he was absolutely vicious, much to my delight. I won't be participating, obviously. 😉
