@@HUBSANOFFICIAL Sure. I had two issues. The first was that GPS follow me" would not work at 22.10 minutes into the video. The second issue at 23.10 minutes was that I had to keep re-selecting waypoint point selection to add more waypoints.

Thanks Quadcopter 101!
Great review, Hubsan has made pretty good toy drones in the past. This one is new for them adding the camera on a 3 axis gimbal. I believe they kept the older technology that went into the 501 and 502 series drones and built a new drone around it. The only new tech they added was the camera and gimbal. I would have liked to see them incorporate some of the newer technologies like optical flow to give the drone more stability and accuracy along with there tried and tested GPS. Good point about comparing this drone to the Mavic pro which it resembles. A better comparison would be to the Spark or the new Fimi drone. Neither of which fold but they are closer in price.
Respected Quadcopter 101 ! With full certainty can say, that your video-the most full and the most literate (skilful) on TH-cam. None of youtubers made such clear video. Without haste, systematically(orderly)! As for the test result. . . frankly, I'm disappointed. The fact that the previous model 501SS(which I have) flies at a distance more then 2000m. is maintained satisfactory video quality and normal response to the drone from command the remote control. My belief is that any new model should exceed the previous one in terms of capabilities and parameters. Hubsan Zino unfortunately not fully better in comparison with the previous model 501SS. In any case, thank you for the competent video! I wish you new spaces and new heights,as well as trouble-free flights!
Watched Dustin Dunnill's review of this one, and it seems to be "geo-fenced" at somewhere around 1000m (1km), which is the advertised range .. which you didn't get on your model. I noticed the first freezing of the FPV video at just over 300 m out. Since it apparently loses FPV & Control at the same time, and then automatically does an RTH, and it has no sensors to avoid anything in its return path, prospective buyers should be wary of flying in areas where there are things it can hit (trees, buildings, towers, etc.) I agree that this should not be compared to a Mavic Air or Mavic, as those are both more expensive "pro-sumer" UAVs. This one is in the same price class as the DJI Spark, which only has 1080P video, but does have sensors and better range. Still room for improvement in FW & App, and we'll see if Hubsan comes out with additional updates for it. (not sure why they released it without a working Android app, since 86% of cells/tablets in the world wide market are Android.) Going back several years, this would definitely be a better bargain than the V303 or X380 from WLToys/XK Innovations, as you had to install your own gimbal/camera/vtx on those, which would put them in the same price category as this one is now selling at, or perhaps even higher. It's definitely better than the new Bayangtoys X22, but then the X22 is less than 1/2 the cost of this one. Lots of choices out there, so prospective buyers would do well to watch as many reviews of any new model before parting with their hard earned currency. Cheers.

Nice and very informative video. I am looking for my first drone and just wanted to know if my can I use my Phone with a wifi protocol 8012.11 bgn to fly a drone, or do I need a new one?
Some drones require 802.11ac WiFi. However, with the Zino, you can plug your phone directly into the controller, eliminating the need for WiFi (i.e. most phones should work with the Zino). Another similar drone, the Fimi A3, does not require a phone at all as it has its own built-in video screen on the controller. Here's the Fimi A3 th-cam.com/video/y_Z9TwB88XU/w-d-xo.html

You do not need a 802.11ac WiFi phone. Simply plug in your 2.4Ghz WiFi phone to the controller via the provided OTG cables, and the controller will convert and amplify WiFi FPV, control, and telemetry signals to and from the drone.

Hi, nice review! There were two mistakes in your video though. When you drew the box in active track mode you still have to tap to execute. Then it will actually follow instead of spotlight. Thanks for reviewing this I really like this quadcopter does it have return to home if it loses signal I see it comes back a little bit until you regain it but if it goes so far can you get it back somehow
Hope mine will work as good as your model. I pre - ordered my Zino in October and still have not received it yet. Fair review of the Zino as per your usual honesty. Quadcopter 101. 👍 Thanks for your thoughts. 👍
nope. FC/Propulsion etc is all on a different level. i mean this doesn't even have object avoidance or redundancy like the Air. the cam gets close as basics are the same incl the sensor.
I've purchased 4 Hubsan products.. 3 Drones and the H301s GPS plane. Sold two of my H501s quads with one going nuts a couple years ago and I have an entertaining video of it.. That said. I'm gun shy of Hubsan drones. Since I purchased my Mavic Pro for a great deal of $800.. I can and have gone 2 1/2 miles over the Everglades not losing video. Secret, need an Octacore processor on the tablet for smooth video. Occusync used on the Mavic is far superior to anything else.. Yes, comparing a Hubsan to a DJI is like comparing a Bentley to a Chevy Cruze. I'll take the Bentley since I can afford it. ;)
was going to get the XMC M11 Turbo , and I would have with 2 batts, but it seems difficult to get the batts for it, so I got this and can always buy additional batteries on EBAY, I find 2 batts min to fly in the field, I prefer 3 though!!!
Love this channel, its literally filled with brilliant "real world" testing / reviews.....For christmas 2018 could we have a top 3 of budget, best and foldable please???
Hmm, a shame the Follow wasn’t functioning well for you. I can’t help but wonder if it was an issue with the Android version of the app. I’ve seen it tested with an operator who used iOS, and it worked extremely well. Hopefully the Update improves performance!
I have had 2 flights with mine, I am Not impressed with the flight times, as low as like 10 mins, now it is a new model so I don't know will the battery improve after a few more cycles , by how much ? I actually have another battery on order so could wait for that to arrive and try that, what flight times are you guys getting ? I am considering a return.🤔
You might want to do that return. This is a 5 year old drone that is out of production. It's batteries are also likely 5 years old. RC LiPo's are only meant to last a few years before needing replacement, regardless of use. The LiPos that came with yours are likely well past their shelf life. But I'm curious, who is still selling the original Zino? Where did you purchase yours from?
@@Quadcopter101 Just an ebay store it was £129.I either return and get another model or stick with and get more batteries when I can (even the 4200 mah GIFI battery.) Heck he's doing waypooints, I don't get time to do waypoints.
Tip of the day....extend the time-out in the APP from 10 seconds to maybe 25.We are talking about the [GPS accuracy test]....gives a far better mating...also mention about putting your phone in the transmitter...don't let the cradle push any buttons on your phone...wink-wink!
Something happened that I need to tell everyone. My Hubsan Zino made two perfect flights and in the third he had a blackout in the middle of the flight, fell out of the sky and got lost. The battery was charged and all the calibrations were done. It was night. I was staring at him when I saw his lights go out as I gave the command to fly backwards. He was not far away but even looking for 3 days in a row I could not find it. To make matters worse the flight log was not recorded. I do not know if it was after updating Zino or X-Hubsan, my first log have been deleted and new ones have not been saved. In response from Hubsan, I received the following answers: "I copy your feeling for the lost and also believe it may crash on the way back home for some reason" "Anyway, normally the drone will not turn off by itself during the normal flight, except it run into something and crashed down" "Sorry, I do not mean to suspect what you mention in your email, just a little weird" If it was not enough the toilet bowl, disconnections, fly aways and wifi problems we now have Zinos falling.of sky. I've seen right here in the group a user who had the same problem with a 501S. That was my first and last Drone from Hubsan. Zino is a good drone, I liked him, but if a problem happens, you're screwed.
Oh dear I've just got one, gonna fit tracker and some strobes. My CJS-x7 developed a fault, new battery, did all calibration, launched hovered was good, punched up lights blinked toilet bowled so I tried to land it, it shot off, lost never recovered.
lol the TH-cam notifying system is so slow... Congrat to the first. Great game by the way Quadcopter 101 ... Great quadcopter (the best for it's range of price in 2018)... and great review of course :-) In your demo, it shows that "Active Tracking" needs a good mobile phone CPU for its A.I. , better the CPU, better the tracking will work.
For the people that say.. “You killed it for me when you said WiFi”, every RC drone, plane or car that uses 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz is using WiFi. The Mavic 2 Pro, WiFi. The phantom 4 Pro, WiFi..
Hello Quadcopter 101. I torn between the Zino and Spark. I know each have there own specific features, but I would like your input on both. Thanks Robert
It's for their analog FPV drones, such as H122D or H501S. The Zino has digital WiFi FPV video, and again only works with 802.11ac WiFi capable phones or tablets.

Good video. The FIMI A3 looks ok except for the crazy sound the props make. I really like its built in display screen. But this Zino is looking to be a decent machine for the beginning camera drone flier.
Subject me which dorn I am by dji mavic mini standard version at 550 dollars or hubsan zino combo version 380 dollars. And this dorns price is my country
Love you video but hard to find how to Transfer videos without computer. I can take out the SD card but a pain in the ass. If you can be a opportunity consider there not a video atleast with hubsan drone
Do you have a video or do you have any ideas why when I turn on the controller I can only get 1 blue light to come on. Then when I connect my phone the blue light goes out and a USB has been disconnected warning sounds. Quad has a solid red light. Thanks on advance for any ideas. Steve
I think Hubsan Zino is a toy drone built form cheap components and not even has an optical flow sensor, so should be priced around $200 and not $400. This drone is definitely not for me, by the way thank you for the great review, your channel is on top of my list! :)
optic sensors are for people who dont really know how to fly and need more handicaps to drain their battery to keep them from crashing into everything.
Did you check out the Dji spark which is its closest competitor? 1080 camera drone with a two axis gimbal versus a three axis gimbal that shoots in 4k at 60 fps. Foldable copters that fit in a backpack. Not huge copters that carry larger cameras.
There are a lot of Zino video coming out now in colder climates. They all seem to be showing slight focus issues and the DOA's are starting to add up :)
Range isn't too bad. I can rarely keep such a small quadcopter in line of sight after about 750m and it's just a dot then. Sill not sure whether I prefer this or the Fimi
Really good review, why do people keep comparing it to drones that are a lot more expensive, and also complain when they have issues with the flight when they don't bother to do the compass set up, something that only takes a couple of minutes. Thanks 101...
Hello there 😀 i was watching your video since i have no drones. then apparently i got interested at the drones because of your nice drones reviews. i wish you have a giveaways drone 😊 have a nice dag
Great job, but please dont point the tip part to the drone/angle it at 45*. they need to be going straight up as the flat part is broadcasting in parallel way.
Great informative and detailed video - I lost my Phantom 3 Standard drone in Colorado (lake) last year & I want a good drone with a good Gimbel for a good price and this one seems to be a good oprtion
I think that you can. There's a record waypoints button available in the app. I will be doing a second review of all the advanced features after the update. I'll make sure sure to include the record waypoints features.
@@Quadcopter101 : Awesome... then if it works you could use a "chrome" app and make Flight Plans on the computer and take them out to the field.... Just like the Parrot Flight Plan App.
dear Quadcopter101 i have a zino now and i try to take photos but turn out realy bad. how do i change this. also videos get saved with a AA and an AB version. the AB version has realy poor resolution, do you know why this is ?
For the pictures, go into the app's camera settings (the icon with three parallel lines in the upper right corner). Then from this menu, go into the photo settings by clicking on the gear icon. Make sure that ISO and Exposure are set to automatic, and saturation, contrast, and sharpness are set to 0. I ordered the zino pro for $319 but apparently gearbest neglected to mention flash sale means pay for it now and wait weeks on backorder because as Flora from customer service said ( we were surprised by how fast the zino pro sold that they are real sorry and to keep my business and my $330 after taxes here's 100 gearbest points ( $2 American maybe) and we put your order at the top of the list so please be patient. Chinese handj ob? Obviously I'm getting a great deal at this time but when you watch the weeks start ticking away with no shipment and about ever 3rd inquiry they mess with you by having a sign pop up that says ship faster ? No in fact just keep my money keep leading me on . At least Banggood ships in a timely tho in a slightly beat up box. I've rattled on long enough now back to waiting
Except when you compare to a DJI spark is actually as cheap in some instances or 2nd hand. Oh and when people start modding it that’s where the cost adds up to one of those you said don’t compare. Am I wrong? I owned a Hubsan before I know. My issue is Zino doesn’t give you filters due to camera design. Should have 2.4 and 5.8 selections regardless. Sorry I find this isn’t a range test, you should plan, take off adjust to the height when flying and fly straight one direction. My Hubsan 501s went 1.1 km so not sure what’s the deal.
Ummmmm no. Wrong-way around bud. The reason being on a non-regulated device (e.g a lot of rc race drones and planes) without an arming feature, if you accidentally have a switch in the wrong position e.t.c. and turn on the controller first, in turning on the model, it could start up and injure you. Be careful!

I think the footage looks pretty amazing. The budget obviously went to the gimbal and camera.... 😉
wouter van wijk My thoughts as well. Glad you brought these points up.
really good review. and showing viewers each step.
nice video quadcopter... might have to buy it... looks cool
Awesome review. I slapped the like button as well. Have a great day !
I ordered one of these today with 2 batts, so should be good !!!
This drone is amazing!!!! Seems to be in the class with the Mavic Air
I'll take the Bentley since I can afford it. ;)
MrPolymers Are you huffing polymers
was going to get the XMC M11 Turbo , and I would have with 2 batts, but it seems difficult to get the batts for it, so I got this and can always buy additional batteries on EBAY, I find 2 batts min to fly in the field, I prefer 3 though!!!
Nice review QC101; nice quadcopter too. Should have been flown at the Pinnacles though ;-)
Looking forwards to your take on the Fimi A3
What was the version of the firmware, gimbal and camera of your Hubsan zino that year?
Love this channel, its literally filled with brilliant "real world" testing / reviews.....For christmas 2018 could we have a top 3 of budget, best and foldable please???
Nice drone & nice video also
Hmm, a shame the Follow wasn’t functioning well for you.
@@RobertKelly-it8wm I recommend returning if you can. This is an old drone, and any batteries that you find for it are likely past their shelf life.
In response from Hubsan, I received the following answers:
"I copy your feeling for the lost and also believe it may crash on the way back home for some reason"
"Anyway, normally the drone will not turn off by itself during the normal flight, except it run into something and crashed down"
"Sorry, I do not mean to suspect what you mention in your email, just a little weird"
If it was not enough the toilet bowl, disconnections, fly aways and wifi problems we now have Zinos falling.of sky. I've seen right here in the group a user who had the same problem with a 501S. That was my first and last Drone from Hubsan.
Zino is a good drone, I liked him, but if a problem happens, you're screwed.
I don't own a zino (although I wish I did) but I'm sure your drone must have been faulty. I have a h501a. Never had a problem with it.
It’s weird AF that you’re calling it a “him”
Oh dear I've just got one, gonna fit tracker and some strobes. My CJS-x7 developed a fault, new battery, did all calibration, launched hovered was good, punched up lights blinked toilet bowled so I tried to land it, it shot off, lost never recovered.
Have to add was third flight this happened
lol the TH-cam notifying system is so slow... Congrat to the first.
Great game by the way Quadcopter 101 ... Great quadcopter (the best for it's range of price in 2018)... and great review of course :-)
In your demo, it shows that "Active Tracking" needs a good mobile phone CPU for its A.I. , better the CPU, better the tracking will work.
For the people that say.. “You killed it for me when you said WiFi”, every RC drone, plane or car that uses 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz is using WiFi.
The Mavic 2 Pro, WiFi. The phantom 4 Pro, WiFi..
How many models does this drone have?
brought this totally love it one amazing drone
Hey, I broke my drone that I got yesterday, the CX-10C, the on off switch fell out is there any way to fix it or reuse it
Hello Quadcopter 101. I torn between the Zino and Spark. I know each have there own specific features, but I would like your input on both. Thanks Robert
Have you seen this one? th-cam.com/video/y_Z9TwB88XU/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/Qth67BJ4gjw/w-d-xo.html
Great flight review. I like this quad. Cheers :)
Hello dear friend,
Do you know if is possible to connect the controller with fpv goggles? Thanks for the great review and all the best
Unfortunately, this only works with a phone.
@@Quadcopter101 l see, but the fpv goggles that Hubsan have, for which drone it is? Pls
It's for their analog FPV drones, such as H122D or H501S. The Zino has digital WiFi FPV video, and again only works with 802.11ac WiFi capable phones or tablets.
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks mate, in this case l need to look for other drones. All the best
If it goes 800meters forward, would that mean it could go 800 straight up?
You can adjust the landing accuracy of the hubson as well in settings.. it searches for the actual take off spot such as the landing pad.
I ordered the pro a couple days ago,
And now I’m thinking about getting the mavic mini, do you think this drone will be good enough?
Well this video is for the original Zino. Here's my review of the Pro to help you decide th-cam.com/video/T0ocN6KKLB0/w-d-xo.html
And here is some unedited raw 4K footage from the Pro th-cam.com/video/61iyKJ3hbB4/w-d-xo.html
Good video. The FIMI A3 looks ok except for the crazy sound the props make. I really like its built in display screen. But this Zino is looking to be a decent machine for the beginning camera drone flier.
Now I understand about 2.4 and 5.0..thanks
Subject me which dorn I am by dji mavic mini standard version at 550 dollars or hubsan zino combo version 380 dollars. And this dorns price is my country
Nice one mate my zino flying great nice review don👍👍👍👍
What’s the largest devce you can use for FPV mode attached to the controller? Could you use a small tablet like a small Android Fire tablet?
if you buy the hubsan h117s zino and you live in europe what plug will they give it to you is it usa or Europe plug & what about if you live in usa??
Great video. Oh my. The clones are coming after the Mavic Pro series hard.
Steve
Are you connecting your phone to the controller using the provided USB cables?
Hello there 😀 i was watching your video since i have no drones. then apparently i got interested at the drones because of your nice drones reviews. i wish you have a giveaways drone 😊 have a nice dag
your video quality is upgraded
Great job, but please dont point the tip part to the drone/angle it at 45*. they need to be going straight up as the flat part is broadcasting in parallel way.
Great informative and detailed video - I lost my Phantom 3 Standard drone in Colorado (lake) last year & I want a good drone with a good Gimbel for a good price and this one seems to be a good oprtion
Be sure to also check out the newer Zino Pro and Zino 2. Here's the Pro th-cam.com/video/T0ocN6KKLB0/w-d-xo.html
Another good review Q101. Still not ready for purpose though'. Still too mant 'hiccups' at the moment so will wait til Hubsan get it right :)
Great video as always..👍👍
I wonder if you can store waypoint flights and bring them up on the fly?
I think that you can. There's a record waypoints button available in the app. I will be doing a second review of all the advanced features after the update. I'll make sure sure to include the record waypoints features.
@@Quadcopter101 : Awesome... then if it works you could use a "chrome" app and make Flight Plans on the computer and take them out to the field.... Just like the Parrot Flight Plan App.
I don't know yet. But again will try it for my next flight.
.A nice drone Q101. Defo a contender in my book. Cheers :)
Hubsan may have been limiting the range to keep the FAA happy by telling you to connect the drone to the controller via USB...? 🤣
Does it have low and high for faster flying. Top speed?
dear Quadcopter101 i have a zino now and i try to take photos but turn out realy bad. how do i change this. also videos get saved with a AA and an AB version. the AB version has realy poor resolution, do you know why this is ?
For the pictures, go into the app's camera settings (the icon with three parallel lines in the upper right corner). Then from this menu, go into the photo settings by clicking on the gear icon. Make sure that ISO and Exposure are set to automatic, and saturation, contrast, and sharpness are set to 0. For the video, the Zino produces two video files, the main high resolution AA video file, and a low resolution AB video file for reviewing on your phone.
@@Quadcopter101 i have tried to reset the saturation, contrast and sharpness but i can save this values. ( even after i paird my phone ). i have the versions of software is :
app: v1.6.6
gimball : zino_g_v3.0.2.1
transmitter: ht016b_rp_v0.1.5
transmitter hardware 1.0.0
flight control : zino_fc_v1.0.47
fpv firmware : zino_it_v0.3.4.ub25
I think you're a bit confused as to how the wifi connection actually works! :-)
Fine review all the same. best wishes.
Hubsan zino vs Fimi a3 which one is better
Hey 101 did you notice any negatives with the android device?
Seemed like it worked ok?
Hi there is a BNF version of this one is it’s any different?
Is the top speed still a very low 8m/s? Sounds so slow compared to others. V dissappointing
hello quadcopter: i have a question
can the android system phone be used for this zino?
Yes. I am using an Android phone in the above video (Leeco X520 phone).
@@Quadcopter101 thank you
I think you have to tap “G” or “Go” to activate the active track after you draw a square around you
Can you tell me with brand it's easy to fly?
Loving your reasoning about the price comparison. Personally I love Hubsan quads, started with the X4 and still use it occasionally
Is this a good beginner drone?
So can I use my 2.4 GHz phone with this and it will work?
Yes it will by using the provided OTG cable that you use to connect your phone to the controller.
You comment on comparing to the high priced drone was right on. It’s not high priced and should not be compared
Does the controller take alkaline batteries or is it rechargeable?
did the hubsan watch control the zino?
Hello Quadcopter 101.
What is the maximum range and the flight time
Looking at getting one of these
Get one there amazing. Had it at 1057m range today was awesome
Can you do a review of the Syma x22w?
Anafi killer?
Just a Tip bro . switch controller on first on all devices. then you powerup the Drone/Rc
Ummmmm no. Wrong-way around bud. The reason being on a non-regulated device (e.g a lot of rc race drones and planes) without an arming feature, if you accidentally have a switch in the wrong position e.t.c. and turn on the controller first, in turning on the model, it could start up and injure you. Be careful!
Your controller has painted the buttons, I saw others that are totally white
