I can listen to this song forever. This is one of my favourite anime’s. I like how it is more slow-paced, versus all the “fantasy action-packed adventures” I usually watch. It is really cute and it sends a nice message.

I like this as a perspective to Komi, but you could also view it as her friends getting a more nuanced view of her. She’s not a goddess, she’s a totally normal girl. Both work perfectly depending on the view and it’s a GREAT motif

This first season really hits different once you actually read the whole thing. It’s so mind blowing that this series and these characters have come so far. To think that this all started with a normal boy and a socially awkward and friendless girl who can only communicate though a notebook is so mind blowing when you look at how they are now

I remember watching every episode of this with my best friend 2 years ago, so much nostalgia (we don’t talk anymore)
Honestly, the most beautiful thing about this intro is the fact that it portrays Komi’s social anxiety as if she were adrift in the ocean of her own mind, and everyone, especially Tadano, is trying to reach her. Absolutely beautiful symbolism.
This is a way better take than what I was thinking, and I love it. Is that why she actually goes towards Tadano at the end?

I’ve never heard of this manga. My first exposure was through Netflix and I was intrigued by the concept. I struggled (and continue to battle) with social anxieties and communication difficulties, so it’s refreshing to see the message that anyone can be afflicted by it. Now that I’ve watched the 1st episode, and listened to the OP, I’m hooked. Let’s get Komi some friends!

I only knew that this anime/manga exists because my cousin opened her netflix on TV and got to watch the first episode the I immediately fell in love with the show and later on went to do some research about only to find out that the manga started 2016 and still ongoing plus the anime adaptation had just been recently released..

i genuinely love the anime's take on the manga's animated art style. normally they'd just do the generic modern anime look in the 2010's but this combines the old 90's aesthetic while adding in this modern era of design as an addition. very fucking amazing

Honestly the best part about this opening is the chalkboard scene from episode one. This scene brought tears to my eyes and I absolutely adore this series. Watching the growth of both Komi and Tadano in a school full of loveable oddballs is wholesome, heartwarming and wonderful.❤❤❤

I got social anxiety during the pandemic, I got so shy after the quarantine regulations started being less strict. It was hard to interact with people, it feels like you're being judged every moment. But this year I am somewhat getting used to normal interactions with people.
This show was relatable in so many ways that it brought me to tears.

It's not just the graphic of the OP, the music itself is really good. It's catchy, fun, and i think it represents about our youth should be, full of love, fun moments, and amazing stories with friends.
And by contrast it shows the reality and how hard it is to make friends especially on Komi san’s part, she is shown as having no friends staring out the window at the rain until tadano befriends her, making her stopped time begin to move again
I know I am late to the party, but I just noticed something interesting
At the first half of the OP, you can see that Komi's world (everytime she is in frame) is gray, full of sadness and loneliness whereas outside the classroom that she is in, the world is colorful.
That is until the breakthrough moment at 0:53. The determination of fitting in can be seen in her eyes (a brief second of close up shot where her eyes are full of color). She rushes out of that dark classroom and join her friends at the pool. From that point onwards she is not so lonely anymore, and her world has colors again.
That is just my analysis. I am a fan of the manga and I'm excited to watch the Anime . But I'm kinda scared to, because as someone who has Social Anxiety myself, I know watching this is gonna hit hard :')

I love the first part where she drops from the sky into the high school, it really shows how hard, sudden and scary it is for her. And the impact from the landing isn't just how she feels but how her classmates feel about her... GOD TIER

I started watching this anime just a few months ago and it already became my favorite one. Everything about it is just plain golden. The plots, the characters (especially Najimi), the humor... Everything!
This op gives me goosebumps every single time I watch it since I've read the manga. It's just so great to see how far Komi and Tadano have come.
I love whoever animated Komi running out of the class then bracing herself against the wall to change direction. It's such a natural human move that I would have never thought of
My fav part of this op was from 0:34 - 0:36 something about the rythm and beat of that part just felt really nice

I already loved the story and it's characters from reading the manga, but it was a pleasant surprise to see the anime was so good. It's common to see many anime adaptations with low production value, but Komi-san nailed it! it improves over the manga with amazing art, animations and superb music.
Hopefully once the manga finishes we get a couple more seasons

the flowers used in the opening are forget me nots. i think it’s really cool symbolism for how everyone who goes to this school is an eccentric and how they don’t want to be etched away by conforming to societal norms; and it especially connects with komi because since she has trouble both speaking and socializing; it’d be natural for her to be forgotten as communication is one of those societal norms

All my life, I’ve hardly ever seen characters in media that I could genuinely relate to. So when I discovered this show and realized the main character was finally one I could heavily relate to in so many ways, I literally cried. It’s always going to hold a special place in my heart ❤️

1:19... that shot of them then it turns to the first time they "talk". The chalkboard scene is gonna feel so nostalgic when both the manga and anime end. Knowing that both of them started communicating through writing, as it was the most personal and only viable way to "talk" for these main characters. Both were alone but had eachother, writing on that board to talk to one another. It gives such good vibes when that part hits.

Komi can't communicate is such amazing anime/manga series. The comedy, art, personalities, friendship, line-art and animations is just amazing and seeing how close they all grow together ❤

This anime isn't too creative. Just a girl with communication problems and is braindead since she acts like a child. Basically its patrick star can't communicate. 🤣

Her child like nature makes her braindead. There is scene where she plays at a children's playground. She's way too old for that. That is not tied with social anxiety. Thats just her being a literal (redacted). Even the MC guy pretty much says to himself at times "Is she (redacted)?".

Given that OLM is also mainly known for the unremarkable'ness that's present day Pokémon; it's like if General Motors suddenly made a car rivalling Rolls-Royce for quality 🤔😆.
@@bread6052 Because Most of the Studio have Scheduled Anime Projects...and Komi was maybe not that intriguing to other studios maybe....And Producing Company Like Aniplex also didnt picked up it so the manga Publisher company Shueisha Produced the Anime Themselves...you may see why Komi is Owned by ShoPro Coz ShoPro Stands for Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co., Ltd. which is joint venture Company owned by Shueisha and its parent Company Shogakukan

@@bread6052 because the way Komi is made is very text-heavy, and relies more on narration dialogue than other anime. The way OLM handled it is similar to Love Is War, which is the honestly the best choice

The comments here made me read the manga after I watched episode 6. And all I gotta say is that yes, Komi is the main protagonist (I mean her name is literally the title) But other than this show about Komi trying to make friends, Its also about how Tadano is standing out as himself. Tadano is always described as an ordinary and average guy by everyone. This series soon progress as everyone sees how he's different from ordinary. In the anime, he can "read minds" but it goes on to how observant and perceptive he is with people's feelings and emotions (surprising how he's so clueless about romantic feelings tho). He basically try his best as a president, friend and classmate. For slight manga spoilers, his classmates start to see that too, heck they even support him by silently shipping him with Komi. This post might sound like a Tadano appreciation post, but it is. Chadano deserves the world😭😭

Tbh that's kinda boring. Its just a retelling of every romance anime under the sun except the twist is that the girl has communication problems and acts like a child so im guessing she's braindead (before you try saying "just because she has communication problems doesn't mean she is braindead" don't because i know but her acting like a child is what makes her braindead. I just want clear that up.)
@Nigward Testicles not like any of the characters are really worth talking about. Its like trying to talk about school days characters. There are no "arcs" in these type of anime. That stuff reserved for better anime. You know the ones everyone has already watched a million times.
Btw i tried to clear things up and you still misunderstood. Im not saying people who have communication problems or are introverted are braindead. I said that she's is braindead because she acts like a literal child. There is a scene where she plays on a playground. Even her normal behavior is that of a child. Jumping around like a little kid for trying to make friends. Making friends is okay but you don't jump around like an overhyped child.
But anyways yeah this anime is not very interesting. Its going through the school days phases except without the cheating and murder.

This anime is probably just a retelling of school days before the cheating started in that anime.

God man, i knew about Komi for awhile now. But now that i've actually seen it.
I didn't expect to relate to it as much as i did. Like, no joke. The first scene with the chalkboard moved me to tears.
I wouldn't say my "condition" is nearly as severe. But it sucks, and i still struggle to this day.
So it's nice to get a really well known character that really represents me and people like me.

Even though I'm more than willing, I can only understand what people have said and take it literally, predicting what the other party is saying is both mentally exhausting and inaccurate. I wish I can be like Tadano...

My social anxiety isn't nearly as bad as komi's but it still creates alot of problems for me like I have no friends so seeing an anime in which u can relate so much to the characters makes me so happy and while it may sound cringy makes me wish I had someone like tadano in my life
This intro really hits me hard. As someone who has struggled to fit in during my youth, I can relate with this show so much. I have been in both sides. Before middle/high I struggled making friends, and present time, as i grew older and now a college graduate student I feel like learned how help those people who have been struggling to fit in as well. I am happy I learned how to create safe environment to all my friends and now I never truly feel lonely. I dont want anyone to feel lonely so I learned how to be the lighthouse for us underdogs. I am now proud extrovert who goes out of his way to adopt as many people he can to to help them and together we should face any difficulties life throws at us.
