  • This Calm is Imagination series is intended to connect and cultivate student voice to creative problem solving in city building to a real world setting. Social Studies education is essential in assisting students in developing a skillset for how to interact with differences within their communities. The primary purpose of social studies is to help young people make Calm, informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world. Studying architect Frank Lloyd Wright along with virtual visits to different buildings and institutions, we begin discussion on how architects don't just build, but need to understand the community they are building for. Who are they, what are their needs? How can we serve them? Through imagination and building "San Antonio", they begin to understand the connectedness of people and communities and how it is a system.
