Is Russell Westbrook being truthful though? Its one thing saying it, but does his history confirm it. Wasn't Westbrook the same guy who responded to "critics" telling him Rubio was cooking him in the playoffs last year by going into the next game to try to silence (satisfy) these critics.

Westbrook can't win with the media.
He literally does EVERYTHING you want your franchise guy to do. Everything.
The man has single handedly kept OKC relevant until PG's arrival... not just his PHYSICAL arrival, but his arrival as a legit MVP caliber player.
Westbrook is the one guy you'd think would leave OKC or any small market to play in NYC or whatever, but he's the one guy you never doubt. He's loyal, works hard, loves his teammates, and wants to win. I'm not sure what else you can ask of a man, not just in sports but in all aspects of life.

Whoa, whoa, whoa bruh, that's revisionist history. Kobe most certainly cared. Everyone brings up "Kobe lost when he had a 3 - 1 lead against the suns." Well, why did that happen. Because he wanted to prove something to his critics and started passing instead of playing his game because he was so heavily criticized.

  • @guccigucci5002
    @guccigucci5002 5 ปีที่แล้ว +29

what russ is doing with passing is amazing he has like 130 more assists than harden Harden only plays offense and is in a system where he has the ball 80% of the time. tons of guys with that usage rate could get 30 a night. and whats sad is he has played in 8 more games than russ and has a 37% higher usage rate than russ and has about 100 less assists!!! And he gets easy ones to pick and roll ones or just quick passing to a guy who jacks a 3. while guys like simmons and russ give guys free buckets. and check stats the guys closest to russ who have played in 14 more games will have like 60 less then him and it aint close. He is also the HIGHEST RATED DEFENSIVE PG IN THE LEAGUE RIGHT NOW. And his either been #1 or #2 all year in steals next to pg13. his shooting is only down because missed all off season and pre season

Whitlock is ridiculous btw; to say that he gets the same amount of criticism as Westbrook is ludicrous. The only reason a journalist would catch criticism would because said journalist is putting out some craziness. The spotlight in terms of eyes on product doesn't compare when comparing articles/videos criticizing the superstars vs the average pointing out flawed product to the journalist. Not hatin, but just sayin, Westbrook based on his position in society as a NBA superstar has to shoulder ALOT. Most would prob crumble to include myself if that many eyes were critiquing my actions.

No I don't like the horrible fg% and I still don't like his shot selection...I've been saying this for 5 years if Westbrook tailored his game on either attacking or mid range and shot a 3 when completely open his fg% would consistently stay over 45% which is good for a guard....but besides that Westbrook is playing great championship basketball he's playing championship defense he is learning how to get his assists without holding Paul back....he's learning that hockey assists are some times just as important as the actual assist if Westbrook can play this way for the next 3 to 4 years his fg% will get better and this okc team has a great chance at winning a chip.....but regular season don't matter pg13 gotta show up in the playoffs because in game 6 in Utah Westbrook 45 points pg13 was 3/16fg 0/6 from 3 that won't get it done if this pg13 comes to play in the playoffs OKC has a great chance

Untrue Marcellus. Rap critics can also be ex artists unhappy about the arc of their career. Sports media changed because of even more coverage, no topic seems off limits and social media. Also, you media types are also insecure because you understand that some in TH-cam community can do your jobs better than you. Ex athletes like to throw their playing experience in your face yet cant make a clear and coherent point to a subject . The ATHLETE joined the media not the other way around. Once again, your audience is smarter than you think.

Okay this was actually a pretty great conversation in general. I believe Russ holds himself to a higher standard than any media critic does already and that he is fine in ignoring the noise. I think he already hears the real criticisms and listens hence the success with Paul George compared to his time with Kevin Durant.

Russ is gonna keep facing criticism for his entire career. The only way for him to silence the critics is to win a ring and that will never happen. His high usage, low efficiency style has never been a winning formula in the NBA.
Still, I think he's right to ignore the critics. He is fun to watch and plays his style well. If he tried to become a pass first PG then it would probably just result in a massive regression for himself and his team.

Who is this guy to say what the potential ceiling is for these phenomenal athletes.
Westbrook is an incredible player, MVP, and setting NBA records. As he gets older he will continue to adjust and assume the mentality he needs to have to be his best self.
I think it's incredibly narcissistic to suggest that he knows the best way each of these athletes should be for them to maximize their potential. Quite honestly, this guys name is not highly influential as a "journalist." Perhaps he needs to change his mentality, listen to all of the other commentators if he wants to reach his potential ceiling. OR, maybe he has already fallen short and telling everyone else how they need to be is the only thing he has left.

I think all these dudes care bc if you want to be praised as great then you definitely care when people speak negatively! Entertaining people means your whole success is based on whether people like you or not. Entertainers are the most replaceable people in society no one truly cares for you. But doctors, teachers, firemen etc are truly valuable and have societal worth bc they are needed no one needs an athelete, actor or any other meaningless entertainment experience. It’s just like the IG models no one really cares about them dudes gas them up smash then call them ugly why? Bc what they bring to the table is not truly valuable it’s a facade & you never cared in the first place. You wanted them for entertainment then you push them to the side for something new

I think Russ listens to those who are closest to him, otherwise why would he change his game? For years KD and the Thunder said they liked the way he played. I think he played the way he was encouraged to or allowed to. I'm not so sure KD ever expressed his feelings until the he already had his foot out the door. I believe we should be open to criticism but we have to be selective who we receive that criticism from.

Again I may disagree with the final conclusion drawn but I cam never disrespect the process. He has. We've seen it. His stubbornness won him an MVP and like his critics predicted to this point has not won him any championships.
He's starting to catch up to what ppl have been saying and we'll see if it stays that way or if he falls back into that rhythm destroyer play style he's had all his career.
Either way he don't give a fluff.

The only nba player in history that average a Triple double for three years. He avg 21 points ,11 assist, 11 rebounds a game. Leading the nba in assists. Second behind Paul George in steals in the nba. And don't get in trouble off the court. when the media don't like you , they always have something bad to say about you or downgrade your success. Like the MVP candidates, he not on anyone list. But James harden is ,why. Because he avg 36 points a game. Every year in the nba someone avg 30 points nothing new. Paul George, Russ teammate . He's on the nba MVP list. Russ stat killing PG-13 stats. Because OKC is one of the top team's they have to pick someone from that team. Then they got Denver Nuggets center on the nba MVP list. This just a slap in the face ,cause Russ beating him in every stat. I'm very tire of this stuff , they did T.O like this, now they doing this to Russ...
