I was inspired by your build of your tent. 3 years ago, I bought an off grid piece of property in Vermont. When I bought it, I also purchased a 12x14 wall tent from the Wall Tent Shop. I essentially build a cabin on a platform, that did not have a roof and stretched the wall tent on that. I also built an 8 foot front deck and bought the 12x22 ft awning. It’s perfectly comfortable year round. Thanks for inspiring me Jay.
I also have a tent shop 10x12 just above you on the East Coast 🍁 been in it yr round, and this will be my 8th season. I do things slightly different as a set-up. Skied many times in Vermont :) very best
Main zipper went in the fifth season, and the fly zipper went this summer. Buckles hold good, but I'm not sure how life will be next summer with the bugs? A month ago, I replaced the fly for the tent, first time and a must for longevity, I think. Do you smoke?
You are absolutely amazing how hard you worked to get your new tent by yourself was great to watch and to see your determination and patience!!, Love your videos Thank you I so enjoyed watching this .and am 73 year old lady .better than any rubbish so called entertainment on TV😊
Turned 63 years old today and I just found your channel this morning. I’ve just subscribed and watched five episodes already. Absolutely love it man! Wish I was there to help with the tent. Stay safe brother! Thanks for bringing us along!
I subscribed back when you were constructing the wood floor and frame, and your celebration of success when you figured out the correct ceiling pitch. I am so happy that you maintain that joy when you meet the same success. RIP Tent #1... welcome Tent #2. Here's to many more years of adventure
I actually cheered when the tent zipped closed! I lived in the Green Mountains of Vermont for several years in an A-frame ski chalet with a single wood stove as the only heat source. Loved hearing your stove drawing in air once it started going. That is the sound of comfort to me and I’d forgotten how much peace it would bring to my soul. Thanks for another great video.
Jay such a good call leaving the wood structure up. I think the tubing would have been very noisy in the wind. Just a suggestion when the dollar store has the pool noodles in this summer pick some up and put them on the coners of the walls. This will help with friction wear on the new canvas. Always great video.
Don’t you love it when a plan comes along! 😂Jay you madman, setting up a tent with only a few hours of daylight by yourself which is probably a 4 man job😮 Glad you got it done without having to replace the roof structure. Enjoy your new home away from home!
Great job Jay, it was a joy watching you replace that tent. I’m so happy that you were able to use the old framing. Looks like your new tent is very high-quality. Good to know. Great job.
I am so glad that you are so happy with your new tent. You put a smile on my face throughout the whole video. The tent looks excellent. Looking forward to the next video.
I was mesmerized by every second of this video. You did an amazing job, especially being by yourself. And always with a smile. Looking forward to some great tent adventures!
Great work Jay, I love watching you work and inspire others while I sit at the computer and snack, the more work you get done, the heavier and more out of shape I get.
Glad you did not use the poles, I do not think it would have held up. The new wall tent looks awesome and hooray that the zipper closed. I enjoy watching your videos. and blessings to stay warm.
You'll love your Whiteduck tent!! I have a Whiteduck 4m bell tent and love the quality of their products. Great choice Jay!! Enjoyed watching your excitement when the tent zipped closed.
Yere like a kid at Christmas who got the toy he was wishing for and I smiled all the way through thank God my eyes were done and settling down so I got to see this way to go Jay
Thank you Jay for this amazing video your new tent is awesome have a great winter adventure Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures videos.
Had our White Duck tent on a 12x20 platform for three years. Love it. We strung a string of solar powered lights inside. Very cherry when you get there in the dark. We screwed through the skirt grommets using fender washers to keep the bottom from flapping in the wind. In the summer we also screwed some 1x4 boards around the bottom of the skirt to keep the Minnesota mosquitoes out. Great job.
I hate hearing ppl say it would be nice if they had ppl to help, this stuff is right up my alley I would love to help but sadly I live south east USA lol I wanna build one of these for my little family to enjoy this is sweet!!
Jay, outstanding job! Canvas tents can be aggravating. You did a great job by yourself. That tent is amazing g, and as said, quality all through it. Great research on White Duck. 👍👍👍👍
Always calm cool and collected. It’s great watching you put this new tent up. You needed that Jay. This was a treat Jay tent up fire going zipped up coffee perking. Jay Rules
Congratulations!!! This is the video I've been waiting to watch. It's amazing that you could use the old tent frame. Everything fell into place...and the zipper closed! What are your plans with the metal frame you didn't need? The new tent looks great and one can tell that it is a quality canvas tent. Barring any unwelcome visitors, this tent will last for years. The manufacturer should appreciate all your compliments and praises about the design and build quality. It's going to be a fun winter. The cabin awaits!
So excited to come along with you on any of your adventures. I was just telling my son how proud I am of how much you've learned and how you're always asking for suggestions and executing them with such joy. I now want a tent from White Duck. You inspire me, Jay. Another great video.
I enjoy your videos. It brings me a warm, cozy feeling. Also you have a nice voice too. I suddenly remember your channel and was trying to find it so I had to look up my watch history in 2 years lmao Finally I'm here again.
Called it. I'm glad you are impressed with it. They are a really cool brand, and make some quality American made tents. Super simple but very rugged and dependable.
You have such patience! You are always smiling when things are tough. I would be losing my temper.....lol! Good job getting all that together on your own.
I've been watching since you put this tent up so it was kind of emotional;l to see it get changed for a new one. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. :)
Hi Jay. Me and my wife have been watching you for about a year now and we are loving your ups and downs living in such a harsh environment as we live in Derby England and we are playing at winter compared to what you get in Canada,so glad the new tent went on we lived every minute with you and was glad everything came together in the end so keep the programs coming as we can't wait for the next one and all the best to you and your family and hope you have a great Christmas and an even better new year.Chris and Julie joy 👍🇬🇧
Hey i still put a filter in mine… and when it bubbles for a few moments , slow down for the next three minutes or so.. let slow down the last part and best coffee ever. I use ever summer on my island
Was so glad the tent didn’t rip in the corner going down over the frame. As cold as it was, the corner is the most likely place to let go. Unbelievable that one man could do it without help! Outstanding video!!!
Great video Jay. I couldn’t wait for the new rent episode and lo and behold you released it today!! The tent looks fantastic and that you were able to do it with the old framing makes it very special!! It was meant to be!! Thanks for taking us through your labor to get it all done. When you said 4 hours of daylight with some new framing to get it done I was like this is going to be some work. But the old framing worked. Thanks Jay!! Awesome episode.
Woohoo! Fantastic job, Jay! Hard to believe you accomplished that (1) by yourself, (2) in the wind. When that door zipped shut you could probably have heard me cheering all the way up in the NWT. Outstanding that you got to keep the frame and the loft. Just a superb job all the way around. Congratulations and mad props!
Hey! What part of Michigan? I have family out there. Pinckney and up north. Not the UP, but about 50 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge. Around Old 27.
Glad I’m not the only one who gives themselves a pep talk when doing a project alone. Granted to know you are filming so technically to are kind of talking to people. Just not at that exact moment. I swear it gives you the mental boost to physically get it done. It may not be easy but just goes to show with enough drive, determination & planning you can get things done by yourself. ❤
Good job Jay! Especially considering you did it buy yourself! Jay my wife also likes your video for the cooking part so please keep showing the cooking! lol Thanks!
Great video Jay, glad to see you didn’t have to remove your wooden roof rafters, the metal ones look like they are securely resting on sill plate. Thanks for sharing your time with us.
We had a similar tent outside of Fort Smith a few years ago. Same type of framing and so on. When it was time to replace, we cut the tent in half and simply slid it off the roof vs folding it over and over again. Just an option.
About time you changed that battery lol. Really solid tent Jay. Awesome frame for sure. Very happy that your setup went so well. I hope this new tent brings you even more peace, contentment and happiness than the previous one. God bless! I wish you many happy returns
Hi Jay!! Beautiful tent choice!! Try a lil cream or milk with that dark coffee...works every time by just pouring until a lil rises to the top. Have a great day!!
I was inspired by your build of your tent. 3 years ago, I bought an off grid piece of property in Vermont. When I bought it, I also purchased a 12x14 wall tent from the Wall Tent Shop. @ good to know they last that long. I cleaned my for the first time this summer and it looks practically new.
Main zipper went in the fifth season, and the fly zipper went this summer. Buckles hold good, but I'm not sure how life will be next summer with the bugs? A month ago, I replaced the fly for the tent, first time and a must for longevity, I think. Do you smoke?
anyways I double the inside with a sheet to contain the heat in the winter months. Helps with smoke :)
You are the Man!

Glad to see you making a proper cup of coffee. I like the new tent. It looks almost made to fit your frame.
I actually cheered when the tent zipped closed!

Love this process Jay! Thanks for taking us on this journey with you. Here's to many more adventures with the tent. 😄

You the man Jay !!!

Your new tent is like a fresh coat of paint. It makes everything new again.

Thank you, Jay.
In all these tent videos I LOVE the fact that the snow debris you get inside the tent doesn't melt and can be just swept out. Game changer! lol
So excited to come along with you on any of your adventures. I was just telling my son how proud I am of how much you've learned and how you're always asking for suggestions and executing them with such joy. I now want a tent from White Duck. You inspire me, Jay. Another great video.
