    London is honestly screwed. I live here it’s got so much worse since covid, every council and road authority seems to use it as a excuse to introduce ‘low traffic neighbourhoods’ and ‘safer spaces’ which is all complete bs. Anyway if you HAVE to drive in London a Mini Electric or BMW i3 is definitely the way to go.

    • @Saif0412
      @Saif0412 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't forget road blocks, they want you taking main roads and to be stuck in congestion. Old Street roundabout they completely screwed up, more congestion and emissions as a result than ever, but hey ho, all for cyclists Lane. 🤦‍♂️
      Agree with you about Uber drivers, seen some terrible drivers particularly the ones in Prius's 🤦‍♂️

      @@MikeNunn-LWM Glad to see you have returned to this comment just a few hours ago, and even more glad to hear how much you love your electric MINI. What do you mean by “preconditioning” ? I am a complete newbie to EVs, forgive me.

    • @MikeNunn-LWM
      @MikeNunn-LWM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Oetti preconditioning means using the cars app to set the heating to ready for the time you want to leave. This warms the car and clears the ice from the windows automatically and uses power from the house not the battery. It also cools the car in the summer. I have not scraped ice from my windows since getting an electric car.

Smart car, and you are right about London, although its many years since I was there. 100 odd miles didn`t seem very good even for a city car, but that may change with the new technology batteries to come later, we will see.

    Sounds like you're still evolving on the strong need for mode shift to cycling with slow streets and the critical move off of ICE cars, but I really appreciate that you're coming from an intense love of petrol cars, so it's a journey. Been there, done that. Thank you for sharing this particular car, because it might be the thing that pushes a few would-be converts into choosing a low impact MINI SE. This car's pretty efficient, and the smaller range actually helps to NOT induce more driving which the longer range Tesla class of cars is doing. Also thanks for clarifying that the range is enough for most people. Cheers.

    Thanks for the tour and video...what struck me about your city driving was how natural the Mini felt...despite not having a mechanical engine propelling the vehicle it didn’t feel eerie quiet....am a die hard Petrol head....so what does that mean😳😱...having said that....battery range is clearly a high priority issue and one that seems more an immediate concern when it comes to planning your movements which can be affected in relation to weather & how many accessories are drawing current from the batteries....given charging stations are not yet as easily accessible as fuel stations nor the recharge times as friendly as fueling either.....is this really a viable option for the masses or the determined few?....It’s shame London is losing its charm for you...am sure you’re not alone in your experience...but great review

    Everyone committing about London being horrible for living and equally horrible for driving should remember that London's streets and neighborhoods were never designed with the automobile in mind because it did not exist at the time.. The 20mph speed limited is for the protection of pedestrians and safety..
    They are trying to limited combustion engine cars due to pollution in a very densely populated city.. You can't blame a city that was not designed for the car or for modern traffic..
    Los Angeles evolved with the car and its streets have been completely redesigned for the car, however, traffic and pollution is a total nightmare.. Maybe if more people public transportation and ride share the traffic problem would be less severe..

      I'll have you know that's "Energetic Yellow," not green stuff. As you might guess, I like the green stuff all over my Moonwalk Grey MINI Cooper SE. I also like that it makes an electronic low-speed sound unlike any other MINI Cooper to advertise it's electric nature. I despised the fake hood scoop, which has no place on an electric car, so I had a scoopless MINI Cooper hood painted and installed.
      I don't begrudge people who want to conceal the electric nature of their MINI Cooper SEs by omitting the Energetic Yellow bits. There are people who have installed the non-aerodynamic grille used on thermal MINI Coopers. I've yet to see anyone add fake exhaust pipes, however.

    It isn't clean. The latest studies comparing EVs with ICE cars show EVs to be far more polluting due to heavy metal production and of course, and incredibly, because they cost more CO2 through life than ICE cars do. If you want a true low CO2 and clean exhaust option convert your car to run on LPG.
