This is a re-upload. I was finally able to clear the copyright and remove the words covering the video.
I was thinking there was no way you hadn’t already seen this. Also I remember hearing the part about goosies from Mitch and Kirstie.
How did you manage to clear a copyright from PTX? Did God owe you a favor? lol

Oh, good, I'm not crazy. I still wish you'd done the live version from the 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert. I love the audience participation. And it's interesting how the arrangement has evolved.
On PTX videos there is a video of live onstage bloopers. It is so funny
Just saw them live this past Saturday. They all killed it but especially Mitch. They sang this and I never cease to be amazed.
He's very talented
Now has almost One Billion Views!! PTX!!
You’re reaction is by far my favorite ever!! I love that you played the original video with this live version!!!’ Pure perfection!!! 😩❤️I love everything Pentatonix but these two together just exemplify how amazing they are to not only perform this live but to do it even better in my opinion is just….🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, thank you!
Perfect song to introduce new people to PTX, we get to see Kevin beat boxing, a beautiful sample of each singer's solo work, great video and absolutely beautiful background vocals. Love you guys showing both versions.
Thanks Larry. Glad you enjoyed it.
That is one of those performances, like in AHA Live in Singapore, that was a once in a lifetime occurrence, a time and place, never to be recreated again! There was just something magical about this performance ❤❤❤
It was so good.
One of the reasons this song is so beloved among pentaholics is that for many of us this was our very first Mitch slap.
That makes sense
Mitchs voice is so angelic, especially in this one. I will never get tired of listening to it and them in particular. Thanks for your reaction. :)
Glad you enjoy it!
I just saw them in Cincinnati and it was the best experience, their live performance is spectacular. Enjoy
We had a blast at the concert.
If you watch again, Scott does the bass when Avi's singing. He has such amazing range.
He's very talented
They did mention that but they called him Matt
@@TouchyReactions Scott is probably the most underrated member of the group. His range is NUTZ. And yes, Scott takes over the bass line for Avi's solo.
So does Avi!
Yes, this is live in front of an audience. Amazing . . .
They were so good
This song was my first "Mitch Slap" as he gets higher than Kirsty in this song! Still one of my favorites!
You can’t beat a PTX upgrade or experience!
Great reaction! I love that you did both the studio and the live performances. What is truly amazing to me is that they can perform live whatever they put out from the studio. That's incredible! You said this is your first time hearing Avi sing beyond his deep bass. I hope you check out some of Avi's solo work. His leaving PTX was a win-win, because you now have the beautiful vocals of Matt, but Avi has created the most amazing music for us to enjoy. Avi has become my favorite artist between his profound lyrics and velvety smooth vocals.
Thanks Stacie
Yes avi solo ❤
@@TouchyReactions Yes please react to Avi's music. Most have started with Change on the Rise.
This was a live performance called Christmas Under the Stars. With all the love I can muster, No umlaut in Kirstie’s name! No umlaut in Kirsties name! No umlaut in Kirstie! No umlaut in Kirstie’s name!
Her name rhymes with thirsty! Please take care of our girl.
Yep
The official video for this was shot in the Mojave desert outside of Barstow, California. They were releasing it on their 2016 Christmas album, so they were all dressed in warm winter coats, even though they were filming it in August and the temperature was around 98° fahrenheit, so they were all miserably hot. Kirstie had injured her foot or ankle and was unable to walk with them; it was as much as she could do to stand in one spot while the men walked up behind her. And they were off-road and afraid that they wouldn't be able to find their way out in the dark, but they really wanted the video to include Mitch's hat obscuring the setting sun. So they needed to do it as quickly as possible and then leave immediately, which is exactly what they did, and they were VERY relieved to be putting it behind them. And yes, they did manage to make it out before full darkness fell, just barely.
I love the back story. Thanks
@@TouchyReactions You're welcome.
Pentatonix has become very good at making a virtue of necessity. When they were on _The Sing-Off_ the producers made a rule that each band had to designate one person as their lead singer and that person had to be the lead throughout the season. This rule applied ONLY during season 3, and it was directed specifically at Pentatonix. The producers knew that Mitch and Scott are both gay, and they didn't want that information coming out on their nice, "family-friendly" show. And they thought that Mitch's high voice would raise questions about his sexual orientation, so they instituted the single lead singer rule and told Pentatonix that THEY didn't get to choose their lead singer; they had to use Scott. Pentatonix knew they were being discriminated against, and why, and they pushed back - they covered songs that required multiple leads, or a female lead, and every time they did the judges praised them for it, because apparently the producers hadn't told the judges about the rule. But even so, by the time they got to their twelfth performance Scott's voice was exhausted. On top of that he was coming down with a cold. They had a great arrangement, fantastic choreography, but their dress rehearsal was an out-of-tune disaster. And the twelfth performance was a really important one, voting would be opened to the viewers right afterwards. So Pentatonix fully expected that they were going to blow it and go home in second place, but they looked for a way to at least get SOMETHING out of it, and the thing they decided to get from it was to finally introduce the world to the wonder that is Mitch Grassi's voice, and forget what the producers might have to say about it. They gave Mitch a solo. And then, to support him as well as possible, they went out there and did their best, and to their astonishment they totally nailed it. And everyone thought that they'd been holding Mitch in reserve the whole time, so they could use him as their secret weapon in the twelfth performance 😆. Virtue from necessity.
When Avi left it hit them hard, but they got Matt as a result, and Matt is actually a better ensemble singer than Avi. Again, they make a virtue of necessity.
And in "Hallelujah," Kirstie's injury could have forced them to put off filming, but they decided to incorporate it into the video, and it works so well that people comment on what an artistic choice it was. (They were lucky it was Kirstie, that artistic "choice" wouldn't have been nearly as effective if it had been one of the men just standing there.) Another virtue from necessity.
The video for "Radioactive" was shot at Babylon Beach, an abandoned resort town on the shore of the Salton Sea. (You can see that lake in the background in several of the shots). After the Salton Sea's accidental creation, a number of "budget-friendly" resorts sprung up, but after the lake started shrinking, and the fish and bird kills, people stopped going there, and many of the towns were abandoned. As Margret Rosenberg noted, this was filmed near Barstow, in a dry lake bed.
watching (and commenting) again for the algorithm
Thank You so much for your time and effort.
Kirstie had hurt her leg and couldn't safely walk on the uneven ground of the Mojave Desert. So she stood in one place and the guys walked to her.
It came out beautifully
New sub here, thanks for diving into the PTX rabbit hole.
They are so amazing and have talent like none others.
Love that your reactions have the official video and a live performance! So many of us Pentaholix try to get reactors to view both knowing that their live performances are as insanely good IF NOT better.
Would love to see more of your PTX reactions.
Some favorites: Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Run to You, Lucky Ones, Gold, Say Something, Thank You, Evolution of Michael Jackson
Awesome! Thank you! We have a Pentatonix reactions playlist. We've done some of these already. We actually recorded the Bohemian Rhapsody reaction last night...Amazing
You should check a version with Matt....
This one is good: th-cam.com/video/ASYzLoi810k/w-d-xo.html
Matt's range in this is just incredible.
I really hope you all enjoy the concert!
I saw them in Toronto, one week ago!
Still on a PTX high!
One thing I noticed in Toronto, is the demographics of the crowd before the show!
All ages were there! Families, single people, from ages 10 to 100!
I think it bodes well for their future!
Stay safe, stay sane, stay strong
We saw the concert already. You can watch the whole vlog on our channel
This is the first song I heard of theirs. Still my favorite!
It's pretty great.
They were walking toward Kirstie because she is 5’4” and it would have been difficult to keep the formation. That is one of the reasons she wears those high heels.
You should check out the PTX experience from way back when.
The second was from their Christmas Special that was on TV “A Pentatonix Christmas “
Thanks Laura
Great reaction. I would like to offer a potential reason while the guys were walking and Kirsten was standing still. She had on some pretty high heels. My guess is that it is not easy to walk in heels in the Mojave Desert. ❤
Someone said she was injured. She could barely walk.
Knights fan! 👍✌️
Oh yeah
Mitch is a counter-tenor and sings 6 octaves higher than most people worldwide.
I love his voice
This is being sung live in front of a relatively small crowd. It was being recorded for a tv show.
Edit, and, once again, her name is pronounced KUR stin, not KEER stin.
Susan, I think you might just be hearing an accent when we say her name. I think "Kirsty like thirsty" every time I say her name.
You mentioned the 2nd one had over 50 million views but maybe missed that the 1st one has over 700 million.
Crazy numbers
The live performance was, indeed, shot in front of an audience, but it wasn't a concert per se. This was being made for television, and I'm not at all sure that the audience even had to pay for tickets. Pentatonix is moving to face the camera, because that was exactly what they were supposed to do - as far as they were concerned the camera WAS the audience.
And Matt wasn't singing bass in this; you mis-spoke. This was with Avi.
It was an awesome effect.
Matt was covering bass on avis solo
@@toddsmith5253 This was a video with Avi. Matt wasn't there; he didn't join until after Avi left - PTX released two songs with no bass singer between the time Avi left and the time they found Matt. Scott was singing the bass harmony line during Avi's solo, as he always did, as he still does during Matt's solos.
You mentioned that there have to be some bloopers out there. Try Superfruit, with Kirsty, doing the songs from "Frozen"
Thanks
One question you could ask. Kevin has named his traditional cello "Beyonce", but has he named his electronic cello?? If so, what?
I have heard it said that the electric cello is "Mr. Johnson" (Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, aka Sean Johnson). I don't know if that is true, but I saw it on the internet, and we all know that everything on the internet is true. /sarcasm
LOL
Please react to some of Avi's solo music. You won't be disappointed. 5 octave range and uses all of them well. Thanks!😅
I'll have to add him to the list.
