I'd like to see how Oliver reacts now. He's got a knee injury and can barely walk. Diggle is out for the count. Sarah left. Roy is of no help. The only ally he has that can do anything is Felicity. Everyone is talking about Merlyn but he's a villain and really no match for a juiced up Deathstroke. What will Oliver do next?
I truly feel Oliver’s rage at this. And his despair. Everything he’s learned, everything he can do, and yet Slade has managed to outthink and outmaneuver him. It’s that helplessness that hurts the most before Slade drives that katana into Moira. This is a nightmare he probably dreamt, his inability to protect his family from the darkness that he has experienced. Him dropping to his side facing where his mother fell was symbolic. To him this is his greatest failure. He and his mother just reconnected and she even knew he was the Arrow and gave him her blessing. Moira may have done some terrible things, but she didn’t deserve to die like this. Wilson is right and remarking about her true courage. It’s the courage of a parent to sacrifice everything for her kids. Clearly something he had forgotten in his madness. Oliver lost the chance to repair his relationship with his mother and share his world with her. At this point, I can understand how defeated he feels. He feels lost and his world just shattered. Seeing his mom fall took all the fight out of him in that moment.

When Moira told Slade that her kids would live and he finally looked her in the eyes. He didn't see her as a casualty of war, he saw her as a warrior. He respected her and chose not to shoot her in the head. He gave her a warrior's death by stabbing her with his sword. Her courage didn't change his mind about killing someone, but it did earn his respect. When he apologized, I believe he was sorry. Sorry he had to kill the one person that was the hero Oliver couldn't be when he chose Sarah over Shadow.

Honestly...this is why I prefer DC over Marvel when it comes to the live action stuff. Death actually means something in the DC universe. It's powerful and helps build the character of the hero. In Marvel...they just come back from "Tahiti". No one ever really dies......DC they die and stay dead.
Have you seen the Amazing Spiderman 2? Death certainly means something in that! I agree though that people don't seem to die easily in the marvel Disney films or at all for that matter. The latest Spiderman (technically a Sony production breaks this convention in the best way possible)

I agree with you there. The marvel ones need to gain more fixed death that means something. Certainly with agents of shield I hope we see some more shocking and permanent deaths like the one at the end of turn turn turn before the season is over. My largest wonder is whether sara will die in arrow and laurel will take over in season 3 as canary. She knows arrow's secret so she seems in the opportune place to as she respects him also.

No. Except for the 5th one every season after 2 was a steady drop that resulted in the show getting worse and worse. It went from a superhero show to a bad romantic drama, Oliver went from a good leader to Felicity's bitch, they killed off Sara then brought her back and moved her to Legends of Tomorrow, they killed off Laurel just to pander to Olicity shippers who saw her as a threat to their "socially awkward girl gets rich, good looking guy" fantasies. They couldn't use Laurel as a self insert because Katie Cassidy's better looking than the Olicity fangirls and they couldn't stand it. They then replaced Laurel with an evil alternate universe of herself who they gave a badly done redemption storyline and they also brought in Dinah Drake who was just a replacement with the comic book Black Canary's mother's name.
This scene is so haunting. I cannot believe how lifelike it felt and the intensity that it carried. I think this scene capped off what is the best episode yet to date.

princessangel999 Exactly, typical CW shows has this this cheesy, teen-romance vibe. Less focus on relationships and more on plot and character development is what drew me Arrow in the first place. It succeeded what Nikita failed for me.
Almost 10 years later this is still an amazing scene. I rewatched this series so many times and I still find this scene so chilling and intense. I like how Slade was showing emotion when he was going to kill either Moira or Thea. He was teaching Oliver a lesson and that was just chilling to me.
slade seems to have a softspot for Thea, in another scene when all 3 fight and she doesnt kill him he looks at her admiringly, almost like hes impressed she never killed him. Probably because he saw her as being much different from Oliver, he has always had a soft spot for her though, as you can see when he is in starling city.

People point out Slade has a tear in his eye, and that has to be the Slade who was Oliver’s friend, buried underneath the madness of the Mirakuru. He knows what he’s doing is screwed up and wrong, but he can’t stop himself, the Mirakuru won’t let him think clearly, which is shown in season 5 and 6, Slade’s back to his old self, not the monster here.

I don't get why Oliver just doesn't tell Slade the truth, I mean he didn't choose Sara over Shado, Ivo was simply going to shoot Sara because time ran out for Oliver and Oliver tried to take the bullet for her and then Ivo switched targets and shot Shado and Oliver couldn't get to her.

I think this is the way to tell us that there is no possible redemption for Slade. I really thought he could be healed, and he could really come back, but now that can't be. An also... I think Sara is the other person that has to die, even if I don't want that to happens.
I think Sara is his intended target. I'm not sure if he'll succeed in killing her, but my original theory was that she'd die and Laurel would end up becoming Black Canary somehow. They introduced her as Laurel Dinah Lance, so it lends credence to the theory.

I stopped watching this show a little after the Slade saga. I knew, this being the CW, that it was all going to be a steep descent after this. It was just too good... especially for the CW. I wish the CW wouldn't force their creatives to scrape the bottom of the barrel by having to churn out what? 22 episodes a season for 8 or in Supernatural's ridiculous case 27,000 seasons. It really does them a disservice long term when it comes to the quality of storytelling. It's just too much. 10 eps tops at 5-6 seasons for a show like this and they can go out on top.
The only villain for this show that's as good as Deathstroke is Adrian Chase imo. But I'd still pick Deathstroke over Adrian because y'know...it's Deathstroke. The og. Manu Bennett stepped into the Slade Wilson role perfectly.

I truly feel Oliver’s rage at this. And his despair. Everything he’s learned, everything he can do, and yet Slade has managed to outthink and outmaneuver him. It’s that helplessness that hurts the most before Slade drives that katana into Moira. This is a nightmare he probably dreamt, his inability to protect his family from the darkness that he has experienced. Him dropping to his side facing where his mother fell was symbolic. To him this is his greatest failure. He and his mother just reconnected and she even knew he was the Arrow and gave him her blessing. Moira may have done some terrible things, but she didn’t deserve to die like this. Wilson is right and remarking about her true courage. It’s the courage of a parent to sacrifice everything for her kids. Clearly something he had forgotten in his madness. Oliver lost the chance to repair his relationship with his mother and share his world with her. At this point, I can understand how defeated he feels. He feels lost and his world just shattered. Seeing his mom fall took all the fight out of him in that moment.
Artisan1979 Moira had a hand in the Undertaking, countless cover up murders and hired people to kidnap and torture her son for information, yeah she deserved this.

When Moira told Slade that her kids would live and he finally looked her in the eyes. He didn't see her as a casualty of war, he saw her as a warrior. He respected her and chose not to shoot her in the head. He gave her a warrior's death by stabbing her with his sword. Her courage didn't change his mind about killing someone, but it did earn his respect. When he apologized, I believe he was sorry. Sorry he had to kill the one person that was the hero Oliver couldn't be when he chose Sarah over Shadow.
I'm sorry. I really am. But Slade yelling CHOOOOOOOOSSSEEEEEEE is one of the most over the top things I've seen. Just cracks a smile every time.

Honestly...this is why I prefer DC over Marvel when it comes to the live action stuff. Death actually means something in the DC universe. It's powerful and helps build the character of the hero. In Marvel...they just come back from "Tahiti". No one ever really dies......DC they die and stay dead.
Have you seen the Amazing Spiderman 2? Death certainly means something in that! I agree though that people don't seem to die easily in the marvel Disney films or at all for that matter. The latest Spiderman (technically a Sony production breaks this convention in the best way possible)

I agree with you there. The marvel ones need to gain more fixed death that means something. Certainly with agents of shield I hope we see some more shocking and permanent deaths like the one at the end of turn turn turn before the season is over. My largest wonder is whether sara will die in arrow and laurel will take over in season 3 as canary. She knows arrow's secret so she seems in the opportune place to as she respects him also.

No. Except for the 5th one every season after 2 was a steady drop that resulted in the show getting worse and worse. It went from a superhero show to a bad romantic drama, Oliver went from a good leader to Felicity's bitch, they killed off Sara then brought her back and moved her to Legends of Tomorrow, they killed off Laurel just to pander to Olicity shippers who saw her as a threat to their "socially awkward girl gets rich, good looking guy" fantasies. They couldn't use Laurel as a self insert because Katie Cassidy's better looking than the Olicity fangirls and they couldn't stand it. They then replaced Laurel with an evil alternate universe of herself who they gave a badly done redemption storyline and they also brought in Dinah Drake who was just a replacement with the comic book Black Canary's mother's name.

princessangel999 Exactly, typical CW shows has this this cheesy, teen-romance vibe. Less focus on relationships and more on plot and character development is what drew me Arrow in the first place. It succeeded what Nikita failed for me.

Almost 10 years later this is still an amazing scene. I rewatched this series so many times and I still find this scene so chilling and intense. I like how Slade was showing emotion when he was going to kill either Moira or Thea. He was teaching Oliver a lesson and that was just chilling to me.

People point out Slade has a tear in his eye, and that has to be the Slade who was Oliver’s friend, buried underneath the madness of the Mirakuru. He knows what he’s doing is screwed up and wrong, but he can’t stop himself, the Mirakuru won’t let him think clearly, which is shown in season 5 and 6, Slade’s back to his old self, not the monster here.

I don't get why Oliver just doesn't tell Slade the truth, I mean he didn't choose Sara over Shado, Ivo was simply going to shoot Sara because time ran out for Oliver and Oliver tried to take the bullet for her and then Ivo switched targets and shot Shado and Oliver couldn't get to her.

In my opinion slade is tying up to be the best villain alongside with Prometheus. Sladechad an understanding past connection with oliver which is also why this scene is so good, and Prometheus opening oliver to his truths that even himself couldnt find was unbelieveable. And also whenchevkept mentioning "everything you touch dies" is connecting to this moment. Alongside with "see you on the boat Oliver"

I think this is the way to tell us that there is no possible redemption for Slade. I really thought he could be healed, and he could really come back, but now that can't be. An also... I think Sara is the other person that has to die, even if I don't want that to happens.

I think Sara is his intended target. I'm not sure if he'll succeed in killing her, but my original theory was that she'd die and Laurel would end up becoming Black Canary somehow. They introduced her as Laurel Dinah Lance, so it lends credence to the theory.

I stopped watching this show a little after the Slade saga. I knew, this being the CW, that it was all going to be a steep descent after this. It was just too good... especially for the CW. I wish the CW wouldn't force their creatives to scrape the bottom of the barrel by having to churn out what? 22 episodes a season for 8 or in Supernatural's ridiculous case 27,000 seasons. It really does them a disservice long term when it comes to the quality of storytelling. It's just too much. 10 eps tops at 5-6 seasons for a show like this and they can go out on top.
