Analysing Myka Stauffer's Narcissistic Behaviour With Her Daughter

  • This video is about Myka Stauffer's relationship with her daughter Kova. So far we've seen examples of how Myka related to Huxley, the son she adopted and then gave away. I believe this footage gives us more examples of narcissistic traits and behaviour and more insight into how a narcissistic mother relates to her child.
    I have done extensive research on narcissism and the effects of narcissistic abuse. I work as a coach specifically with people who have experienced an abusive relationship. Let me know in the comments section below what video you would like me to make about an aspect of narcissism that interests you and please subscribe to my channel!

      So satisfying.....except that in the disastrous experiences I've had, it STILL doesn't have the desired effect. I am a broken empath who is trying desperately to iron out all the awful wrinkles ...one narcissist I dated for 4 years & became engaged to...was secretly seeing an acquaintance of mine behind my back. We discovered his infidelity and when we confronted him together in person, he literally would NOT ackniwledge what he'd done, and just backed into a corner, sank down, and refused to speak.
      Another ex was so angry that I stopped going round in narcissistic cycles/circles with him....that he attempted to burn my house down while I was asleep inside TWICE.

    I was homeschooled by a narcisisstic mother, and I didn't have any friends. I would beg and plead with my mother to enroll me in a real school so I could make friends, but my mother would always say angrily "I'm your friend!" She didn't want me to have a relationship with anyone besides herself. Myka Stauffer reminds me of my mom.

He would always tell me that the only people I could count on was my family and not to get too wrapped up in my "friends" because they will always let me down. It was even worse with any guys I dated. So bad that he refused to come to my wedding....for NO legitimate reason other than he just didn't like my husband. He definitely has major issues.

      Well, in the Stauffer's case, it was a bad fit... Seeing all those clips where she is just demanding the attention "sage on the stage" and ALSO fueling the sibling rivalry... Oof.
      Thank GOODNESS it was short-lived. Again, I know lots of wonderful home-schooled adults and current families, but, like adoption, they misrepresented it and gave it a bad name... Everything they touch!

    • @kristaw2686
      @kristaw2686 4 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      I'm so sorry you lived that! In my experience, most homeschooling families are loving, normal families who are intentional about making sure the kids have plenty of social interaction outside the home. I'm so sorry your mom used it as an avenue to control, isolate, and manipulate you. That's terrible and you didn't deserve that.

    • @fishalope5
      @fishalope5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @Thora Friganza I was homeschooled, most of the people I know had wonderful, safe experiences with it. Abuse is awful, but it doesn't exist only in homeschooling, nor is it always detected in public schooling. If anything, I would be more concerned about educational neglect as a reason to not homeschool, but again that varies from family to family and the child wouldn't necessarily do better in a different educational environment.

      A girl I knew in middle and highschool said her mom was her best friend, and though her mother clearly loved her, I felt bad that she didn't have the same kind of protective, stable, responsible parent I did. Her mom was very irresponsible and let her get away with too much.
      To be fair, her mom had her as a teenager, so it's not surprising that she had less maturity compared to my mom (who was 30 when she had my sister and I).

When I was younger it was embarrassing enough if my mom showed a friend without having for the world to see. It's really easy to lose control of a video or picture once its online

      I had emergency surgery after Dr's found my gall bladder was gangrened and guess who wasn't there when I woke up.... Instead he accused me of having mysterious "visitors" because I wasn't answering my cell or my room phone😏
      That's what I came out of surgery to and it was so brutal. Next thing I know we're fighting in the parking lot after picking up my pain medication because I wouldn't give him any. I ended up throwing them away just to end the argument. This is just ONE incident of many. People can question how we allowed such abuse or put us down but these monsters know exactly what they are doing and prey upon the goodness of others. It's a sick way of getting from others what they lack in themselves. They can imitate but can NEVER really feel beautiful emotions. And they are good at mirroring behavior. I used to think I would never let some guy disrespect me and once I was hooked the mask fell off. Sometimes I feel I'll be traumatized forever and I'll never trust anyone again. That's where it's safest. I'm so sorry you went through the mud and have shared a little piece of your story. Thank you💐💐💐

      I couldn't agree more. A parent needs to be a parent before anything else to their child. My mom was fairly strict when I was growing up and admittedly, it caused a lot of arguments between us and periods when I just didn't want to know her. But she always gave a reason as to why she said "no" to certain things and if I asked, she'd explain why she expected certain things of me and my brothers. Now, fast forward to being 24 I agree with my whole heart to the way that I was raised and understand why she didn't let me do everything my friends were doing, and we have a really close relationship. I hope that down the line when I have kids of my own I'm as good of a mother as she has been.

  • @KS-xe3lx
    @KS-xe3lx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1138

    First thing I noticed is that she doesn't talk 'with' her children, she talks 'about' her children to an imaginary audience. And there's a huge difference between having your parent talk 'with' you, having a parent talk 'at' you, or having them talk 'about' you. For example, my NPD mother never talked 'with' me, it was always either 'at' or 'about'. When I turned 30 and got engaged, she literally refused to talk 'with' me even when I confronted her about her avoidance to communicate like adults. She chose to talk 'about' me to other family members and claim to be victimized by my sudden shift in personality.

I was always too fat, I had red hair that she hated, she'd hit me with whatever she could reach and went so far as to not let me shower but once a week....but i went to school and made something out of myself in the Army. She then turned to my children and treated them as badly as she did me. Took me until I turned 40 to quit seeking that "something" from my mother that I was never going to get. My father died in 2007 and I never saw my mother again.

      Abuse is abuse whether it’s physical, mental, sexual, or verbal. The problem is the courts can’t do anything if they don’t know. I think a lot of the problem is some people don’t consider it abuse unless the child is being beaten or molested. People don’t realize how damaging verbal and mental abuse really is and the long term effects of it especially when it’s ignored.

    • @lissafinn4235
      @lissafinn4235 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Deplorable Cat , Courts do recognize it because it’s abuse but they can’t know about it unless someone reports it. The courts are to blame if they’re made aware and do nothing but they are not mind readers. It’s the people who are aware of this abuse (spouse, relative, teacher, coach) whether it’s witnessing it firsthand or the child confides in them and they choose to not get involved are partially to blame.

      Yeah, Helen, that’s so true. It’s called triangulation and it’s pretty devastating. I was the ‘black sheep’ or ‘scapegoat’ of my family (because I spoke up against the mad dynamic, I was punished by being cast in the role of the ‘villain’), and until I realized in my older age what the dynamic actually was - I had many painful years of confusion and frustration and hurt upon hurt. Even now, hip to it all and having done much healing inside, I still struggle with the understanding that all of my siblings and I can’t be genuinely close. I’m free of the madness of the ‘clique’, but in doing so I’ve sacrificed almost all familial relationships, except on the most surface level. Though their closeness isn’t authentic either. Basically, nobody wins. I have more of myself though, authentically. I wish that for them. However, I’m realistic 🌼

    The ‘friends’ thing from a mother really resonates. It’s been a situation that I’ve sensed my entire life. My mother treated me as a stranger as our relationship was breaking down. Good feelings from my teenage years, regarding mum, always felt like a good friendship, but also very precarious. I had to agree with her always, or else she wouldn’t be my ‘friend’. Thank you for uploading another super video on this subject. I’ll never stop trying to understand what makes these people tick.

When your child is so upset you pull them close to your chest and you can feel an ache in your chest, all you want to do is take the pain away. This is heartbreaking to watch. How she said her husband was the favourite, and what's funny is she claims the son basically 'hated' her and had disdain for her, which to me sounds like she's making up stories in her head to better justify her dislike for him. It's really fucked up, but if she sees her kids as friends more than a responsibility then I can see where this thought process stems from.

    Great video! I used to work as a social worker in a Child Protection team, and you're so right about the toxic environments some children grow up in. Red flags were parents saying their child was their friend, attributing completely unrealistic expectations, eg one mother said that her 18 month old daughter was self-sufficient, utter lack of empathy, ridiculing children, awful name-calling, no warmth etc etc. It used to break my heart to see these poor children trying to be good enough for approval. I'd MUCH rather work with parents with substance misuse, Mental health issues, than these unloving and selfish parents. Thanks for this video, makes me want to go back into social work!!

    Regardless of whether Myka is a full blown narcissist or not, she is not meeting the needs of her daughter, fails to make eye contact and seems to be addicted to the screen. She seems disconnected from her children and her daughter Kova dislikes/resents/is made uncomfortableby the presence the camera. She looks quite sad. And over looked. And dragged along with her mother crackpot instagram life. That she has to comply with, with no choice, as she lives in the household of Myka, and James, who is not her father. I doubt her real father treats her this way. Kova wants connection with her mother but Myka wants connection with her audience. Her children, and their needs, almost do not exist, as is definitely secondary. She is a distracted parent, not present even when her daughter is lying crying on her lap, preferring instead to make faces at her audience.
