For me, 45 is for listening intently. 33 is for listening while I am doing stuff on my computer. I don't tend to do pure background music, like doing the laundry or whatever while listening.

The biggest news I heard from this video is we now know the next RHF release will NOT be Deep Purple Burn. I’m pretty sure one of them will be the Doobies, which is fine by me. Love that album. No idea the other release.

Van Halen mofi SACDs for me. Can’t justify the cost of the one steps when those albums struggle to make the thirty minute mark. Very happy with the first two sacd releases.

OK guys I’m high and guy I’m 70 years old. Been in hi-fi since I was 10 years old and the fortune to meet and learn from Sant on his first two bands anyhow reason for their response I have a very high end revealing system and I find it very difficult to believe that 45 sounds better than my 33. I have a lot of Acoustic sound 4575 issues. I have a lot of 33 issues recorded well I find it very difficult to find the reason to have a 45 when they can actually do 33 that sounds great and I have some in my library. All we do Pay $150 when I can do the same thing on the 33 done properly doesn’t make sense to me except it’s greedy and we want the most performance that we can get on vinyl it’s up to you guys don’t take it serious. It’s not life and death, but in my opinion, I think the 33 done properly sound is good and I proved that in my own system, then 45. Good luck guys it’s a hobby. Remember that and you can afford to pay 150 for a record. You’ll never get your money out of it maybe 30 years from now if you’re still alive.

I clicked in because I saw a picture of, and am interested in, the origin live tonearms, knowing that collectors goals are not mine, but their knowledge is so valuable, it can't dismissed by a record consumer.

I bought that entire Doors 45 AP set, all six albums, when they came back in stock a few years ago. They all sound incredible.

Steve, I’m sure you will take the AP45 Inxs to shootout with the rest, when you do that I hope you will include the Mofi silver label edition as well! 😅

Get the word out to George: His music opinions matter, his experience matters, so get GB back up there kicking & screaming if necessary. Plus he's the only one who sounds like Richard Dreyfus.

I love my Dual 1219, but I do have to adjust my speed, with a strobe disc or RPM app, when I change from 33 to 45 or back. I never forget to change to 45, but I almost always forget to change back to 33.

Another good one, Steve. Do you think a segment devoted to YES album shoot out would be worthwhile?, e.g., the yes album..

Sadly no Deep Purple on Rhino High Fidelity next. So i think one will be a Queen Album. Queen II or Sheer Heart Attack. Please no Doobie Brothers.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen did not use the Sony digital system. It used the 3M Digital recording system.

If you want detailed and nuanced bass.
Then it is needed to get the right gear.
I have more than one time noticed bass and bass extension were heavily affected of RIAA and if you have OP-amps then they also have a great impact.
But first of all we need to have a speakers that can reproduce down to 20 hz and with + dB.
When you can't hear for example under 40 Hz with your bookshelf speakers then you clearly can't determine your RIAA performance and have no idea that it underperforming. Until we use as said speakers with greater bass extension.
Then DSP will do extremely more to your sound quality (if you know how to use it) than ANY supposed quality degradation doing the AD and DA conversion! Especially in the bass area. And without it we loose so much sound quality.
So all "purists" is a word for those with inadequate SQ and lazy to learn how sound and technology works, in my opinion.
Then the icing on the cake is big open baffle drivers.
When all the those stars are in place then even old and very experience audiophiles will drop their jaws. When I put on a electronic modern LP with really deep bass..
They almost can't imaging that we can get THAT level of bass performance on a LP source.
    Just amazing!

Really enjoyed that show last night Steve, and your guests were just as engaging. Loved the talk about INXS - "Kick". Saw them twice if not three times, and they were a powerhouse to be sure, and for me, could pretty much put down the same performance live as in the studio.Forgot Chris Thomas's name last night. How could I? He's produced so many classic albums.Talking of "Kick' have you heard this? th-cam.com/video/ElT_ht5bYxI/w-d-xo.html 35 The 35th Anniversary.(2022) Man! Time flies! Dolby Atmos. Mixed by Giles and Sam Okell. Distributed through Rhino.Be interested to hear your thoughts on this, when get a sec. Already looking forward to your next show.

Is it a double edge sword.
You want and get into the zone with 45 rpm little bit easier when it is sounding better. But then you are taken out of that when it is ending earlier..😂
I have that rule for me when I go and look for thrift store finds. That if I find a 45 rpm then I almost have to buy it.😂

I am total agreement with Patrick pbthal, you must listen to a UK press A1/B1 of Bad Co, it steamrolled over the AP45. Same with Phil Collin’s hello I must be going lp. Try comparing the hit song ‘you can’t hurry love’ to the UK 12” single which is also on 45 rpm. The ap45 also got whacked on that!

@@michaelmoon2342 no, there is a A-1U/B-1U out there but sonically your copy would sound pretty much the same. In fact there are some listed on eBay right now….
