Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! Your video was incredibly helpful. I have a question: Can the application for a spouse open work permit extension be submitted at the same time as the principal applicant's, along with applications for children? Or do we need to wait for the principal applicant's permit to be approved before applying for family members? Thanks again for the great content!
what percentage of approvals do you have if we follow your video guidelines? I’m Colombian and an Industrial Engineer. My employer has provided me with an A# to apply for the LMIA exemption, and I’m already in Canada working for this employer under PGWP, same example as your video. My question is about the invitation letter. I didn’t submit one because I’m already in Canada, so I selected the option indicating that I'm working under an international agreement I followed your video. This seems confusing because working under an international agreement suggests that person is already exempt and looking to extend a current work permit that is under an agreement, not sure if PGWP is a work permit that is under any agreement, if yes . As your video explains, this process is intended for those on a PGWP who have the opportunity to obtain an LMIA exemption and move forward to a closed work permit. it would be great if you can provide more details if selecting the "I'm working under an international agreement" is correct !!
Hello sir, What is the processing time for Francophone Mobility of inland application?and flag-polling option is available in this program for the person who is already in canada?thank you

Hello @sjpimmigration, thanks for the informative video. I have a question. I'm also applying for a work permit under AIP, and I'm already in Canada on a PGWP. What should I put for the duration of expected employment since I'm already here and have been working with this employer for the past year? I asked my employer, and they put "Permanent" on the employer portal.
Thank you for detailed and very informative video. I have Two questions: 1. I have confirmation PNP and its says employment restriction YES, Also I have work permit supporting letter (R204(c) / T13) Do I apply for work permit extension in the same way as shown in the video or do select the option that says I have PNP certificate? 2. I have applied for PR under non express entry can I submit work permit extension without AOR as my current PGWP is valid until end of October 2024? Thank you for your guidance and hope for the clarifications.
Thank you so much Andres. I appreciate a like/subscribe and share to help me continue to produce this content. I’ve got PR pathways launching soon. Thank you for the comment and support.
Hello ! A question, my closed work permit is expiring in January 2025, it is under the CUSMA agreement. Would this video be helpful to complete the process ? Also what information should my employer put in the new job offer ?
Hello Steve, my employer is Covenant Health and it doesn’t have a business registration as it is a non profitable charity organization. Will my employer exempt from employer compliance fee? Also as they don’t have a business registration they wouldn’t be able to use employer portal. What is the best option I can use in this case? Thank you!!
Thank you for sharing the detailed video. My employer mentioned in offer letter for 3 years duration but my providence work permit support letter gave me 2 years. So how many years I should mention while applying a work permit?
Thank you for all your videos, they are completely great. I have one question thta is getting harder to find the answer. I came to Canada with a closed work permit and my wife is with me with a Visitor Record. I received a nomination from NS and I submit an application for PR, I also receive a letter of support T13(I watched your other videos about it) and now I am applying to extend my work visa with this letter of support. I'll keep working for the same company and they will submit a new job offer on the employer portal(as your video showed). My question is about my wife, should I ask for a work permit or she is not allowed to apply for a work permit as she is on a Visitor Record, even if I got the nomination and submitted the application for PR.
Thanks for the video. One question, in my case, my common law partner is applying with me also. For his imm5710e form, question 3 do I also check apply for a work permit for a first time or a new employer. Even if his last permit was PGWP
Hello there, Thank you so much for making such an elaborate video. Just one question: I am applying for a work permit extension under the AIP program. What should I select for the question "Which situation describes your work? International agreement or employer-specific work permit LMIA exemption"? Right now, I am on a PGWP, and it will expire in the coming months. Thanks!
Thank you for the clear and detailed explanation. I have one quick question, in the 5710 when they ask for a "national identity document" do they mean a Canadian one? like BC ID or the one from my country? also, at the beginning, would changing from "LMIA exempt application" to "International agreement application" not change anything? cause I see the invitation letter as a requirement too, I'm applying within Canada NOC 42201 charitable work LMIA exempt. Thank you in advance.
No! They mean from your home country, and BC ID is a provincially issued document, not federally (national). It appears one selection requests an invitation letter. This is probably because some international agreements require one. It appears to be a bug in the system and I don't believe the charitable work exemption C51 requires an invitation letter. www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/foreign-workers/exemption-codes/canadian-interests-charitable-religious-work-r205-exemption-code-c50.html
Thank you for the excellent video, Steven. I got nomination certificate from Ontario. To extend my work permit I need to apply for T13 LMIA exemption. Have you been told by an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada office that you are approved in principle for permanent residence in Canada? This should be YES in my case, correct? Also, in my case all these steps are same except I need to select Provincial Nomination work holder, correct? I will appreciate your response!!
Hey, thanks for the video. My employers gave me a number to input in my application at some point. Inam almsotndome with my application and i don't see anywhere where I should input that number. Am I doing the right thing ?
If you are referring to the "A number" you'll see a field where it can be entered on IMM 5710 (if applying from within Canada) when selecting "Exemption from Labour Market Impact Assessment"
Hi, thanks for this content it is very interesting the way you explain the whole process. Would you please help me with a doubt that I have, and I havent found any information about that. You said that some where you read that offert emploiments are only vaid for 60 days. Can you please confirm that information to me. Thank you.
I believe they are active for 2 months to be matched with a work permit, but I cannot confirm where I recall seeing this. It's good practice anyways to submit within 60 days, and I haven't had an issue ever keeping it within those 60 days.
Hi Steven, My employer is having trouble submitting an offer of employment. He can log in to the portal but cannot click on anything. No options under "What would you like to do today". He can see the previous offers submitted. Any idea what could be wrong?
Thank you sr, this content is very useful for companies and people, I have a question: if one person apply for a Work Permit under FTA Colombia - Canada in professional category, this permit is Open or Close. Thank you so much
I'm on PGWP, I just got LMIA positive from my employer, now going to apply for CWP, what should I show in" Offer of employment"? Is that the employment letter? Thank you.
I don't have a video yet on LMIA required CWP, however, you need to include also your employment contract/job offer, as stipulated in IMM 5556 checklist unlike the LMIA-exemption indicated in this video.
I have got my endorsement under AIP in Nova Scotia, and applying for work permit extension through employer, could you please tell me what do I select where you selected International mobility program. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this helpful video. Could you please answer if i am married and have my pgwp for 2 more years, as my wife with her owp. Should she also apply for a new work permit, if i am getting a close work permit? Thank you again
Hi Steven, i have applied for work permit extension after receiving support letter with OINP PNP nominee. I am on maintained status and i need to leave country for emergency. will they issue me a work permit up on return at the border or what are my options here? Your help is much needed
If you have a valid visa stamped in your passport or are visa exempt, it’s up to the officer discretion to admit you to Canada as always. You will lose your maintained work status and be seeking reentry to Canada as a visitor. Unless you apply at the border for a work permit, I don’t see them issuing it, rather admitting you as a visitor
Thank you for the video. It is great. Just a quick question: I am applying for a work permit under startup business class and my client information contains lots of information and supporting documents and even after compressing the final PDF file it is still larger than 4 MB. Based on your opinion is it okay if I provide google drive links in my file for some of the supporting documents instead of merging them in the file?
I’ve referenced links to outside sources in the past yes! But keep the most important documents as PDF’s for sure and be sure it’s clear to officer the limitations.
If you have PNP from NS, you want to apply for a T13 exemption (probably). I don’t have the specific details of your file, but that’s not an international agreement, it’s an LMIa exemption.
Thank you so much! It is very clear. Just have a quick question. In the 5710 form where it says "National identity document" does that mean my national document ID or Canadian ID? For example BC ID or Mexican ID, thank you!
It means national ID from your home country if you have one. Drivers license is not a national ID, it’s provincial, so yes, it would be a Mexican national ID, or any other country if you have.
At 8:23 in the question have you submitted a PR application in Canada, let’s say we have submitted a PR application do we still answer no? Coz in the help button for that specific question it says PR for USA?
You may answer yes, and it may then try to send you to the sequence to apply for an open work permit (bridging or similar). This eligibility questionnaire should be taken lightly. If you are trying to get to the closed work permit LMIA exempt work permit application, you don’t want to go down the open work permit route (your document checklist will be incorrect).
Hello sir, I could not get one point here. I am already doing job for charitable company(which is eligible for lmia exempt)on my PGWP since last 2.5 years. still I need to apply for lmia exempt work permit?
Yes you can. The benefit of getting your employer to submit this offer and applying for a closed work permit, would enable you more time and also qualify you for 50 pts if the work is skilled, the closed work permit is approved, and you've been working for that employer for over 1 year.
Hello, I am a little bit confused if I am applying under the francophone mobility program what option should I select - I am applying for an employer-specific work permit with LMIA-exemption or I am working under an international agreement or I am applying for a work permit through an active pilot project or an active public policy fow work permits annouced by IRCC?' Thank you
Thanks for the info! I have a question, when I found a job offer in JobBank with the specification “this employer has an LMIA” or “this employer have applied for LMIA”, means that job offer has already a worker chosen? And there is no option for me to apply? I understand the LMIA is for a particular person right? So looking for employers with LMIA is not a good way for me to look for a job!!! Thanks a lot!
It means employer has applied or has indicated to JobBank they are applying for an LMIA. There is a good chance the employer may have already found a worker, however, there are some LMIAs that can be applied for without the foreign workers names. These are common with low-wage LMIAs with multiple positions ie. 10 housekeepers. They may not have found all the housekeepers yet, but know that their company will need to hire 10, and that's what application they are making. Once the LMIA is approved, the employer can add names to the LMIA after recruiting the workers by calling or emailing Service Canada.
Usually if there are multiple vacancies indicated on the Job Ad, there's a greater chance they don't have all the workers lined up, rather than a job ad for 1 specific role and vacancy in a company.
@@sjpimmigration Oh thanks for the explanation. This is something that has not been explained before! There are different immigration officers and even "youtubers" but nobody has explained this before. I came across that for common sense!! So if I found a job offer for a company looking just one person and already has the LMIA it is almost sure that position has a "name" on it! Thanks a lot!
Hello can I apply for the LMIA exempt Work Permit outside of Canada. I have the offer of employment number and certificate of nomination by the province along with support letter, or do I need to be in Canada for that? Thank you
hello SJP, I applied my work permit application lmia except. I want to know if i can continue working on work permit applied status after my PGWP expires. The submission letter i received haven't mentioned anything regarding this. Can you please answer.
You could and it may give you the option to then apply for an Open Work Permit, which you may not be eligible for. You want to apply for a "Work Permit" based on your LMIA-exemption. You want to get to the closed work permit application sequence.
Hello thank you for such videos they are really helpful. Could you please help with closed work permit extension for PNP certificate holders too please
What kind of document can i submit under "invitation letter"? I am working for the Health Authority in BC so i cannot submit my application under International agreement as shown in the video. Does the work permit support letter by BC PNP counts as an invitation? Thank you for this
Hi, great information. Can you please let me know what is CLB level requirement for NOC 62100 Application sales Engineer Employer specific Work permit TFWP
Hello, thank you very much for the information. I have a question and I'm not sure if you can please help me solve it. In the case of someone applying for a temporary work visa from outside of Canada through an LMAI exception with an NOC 41200. Specifically regarding the question: "Will you be coming to Canada under an active public policy or special measure announced by IRCC?" It is necessary to respond Yes or No. I ask you this because I believe I have seen that this NOC belongs to a program called the International Mobility Program and I would like to clarify that doubt. Thank you very much for your valuable assistance.
As I've shown, this eligibility checker is just to get you to the type of work permit you can apply for (open, closed). If you qualify under a public policy as indicated and select yes, you will get the option to apply for an open work permit. If you also select written job offer, yes, you will get the option for a closed work permit as well. You choose the option that best describes the type of work permit you need to apply for and which stream. The International Mobility Program is how the majority of Canada's work permits are coded (LMIA exemptions, spousal open work permit, PGWP etc). The other program is the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (LMIA required). This video references the LMIA-exemption under the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which falls under the IMP. For a list of all the Public Policies: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/public-policies.html
It’s asking for an invitation. Letter for employer septic work permit, LMIA exemption, what do I put ? I’m renewing my work permit it never asked for that when I did my work permit. Or did I do something wrong. I’m from Jamaica
This video refers to LMIA exempt WP applications for Colombians under Canada Colombia FTA. I don’t know what type of work permit you are eligible for without knowing your specific circumstances
What if you are a visitor but already have an offer of mployment number from an organisation in canada on the employers portal. How can I proceed to apply for the application.
Somebody in canada with pnp and letter of support but work permit expired .no legal status .Can he still apply and this is for Noc C position csr.please guide
Thank you for these videos! the path for an OWP holder spouse of a PGWP holder is VERY CONFUSING. It doesn't throw this list of documents no matter what I change :(
Glad it was helpful! And yes, their is conflicting information on their website, in their portals. That's why I do recommend just at least having a review with a professional who does a lot of them, as they understand based on experience. Just keep in mind that to get an open work permit, with spouse on PGWP, because PGWP is not closed, you must show that the PGWP holder is working (paystubs etc).
That would be a closed work permit application. I don't have a video for LMIA specific yet, but I have LMIA exempt closed, as in this case. It would be very similar, but would include the offer of employment from employer@@nitumotwani
Hi, I have submitted my LMIA exempt application for Work Permit and I live in Canada. I submitted my application on Feb 20 but still waiting. I have got my PNP nomination certificate during this time too and I am going to apply for PR separately, but I need my work permit now. What to do if my work permit is delayed?
It gets sent to the email address 5 mins after submission of the offer in the employer portal. It also will be visible by searching, you must hit search, under submitted offers of employer in the employer portal.
Check out my website, I offer three ways to support applicants: Generic Consultation: Book a 45-minute flat-fee consultation directly in my calendar 24/7 for quick resolutions. Application Reviews: Hourly review services for all types of applications. Includes transcripts and follow-up emails. Full Representation: Submit a contact form through my website for full representation throughout the application process.

Thank you
hello SJP,
I applied my work permit application lmia except. I want to know if i can continue working on work permit applied status after my PGWP expires. The submission letter i received haven't mentioned anything regarding this.
Can you please answer.
can u extend it a year early?
Yes, the earlier the better. You can have multiple authorizations (WP, SP) at the same time.
Heyy. If I am in the process of PR do I switch the answer to yes?. Also I am LMIA exempt and pnp approved. Will the process for me change ?
You could and it may give you the option to then apply for an Open Work Permit, which you may not be eligible for. You want to apply for a "Work Permit" based on your LMIA-exemption. You want to get to the closed work permit application sequence.
Hello thank you for such videos they are really helpful. Could you please help with closed work permit extension for PNP certificate holders too please
Thank you so much, sir!
You bet!
What kind of document can i submit under "invitation letter"? I am working for the Health Authority in BC so i cannot submit my application under International agreement as shown in the video. Does the work permit support letter by BC PNP counts as an invitation? Thank you for this
Did you manage to resolve the concern? I have the same doubt
Thanks a lot. Your information is very useful👍🏽

This video refers to LMIA exempt WP applications for Colombians under Canada Colombia FTA. I don’t know what type of work permit you are eligible for without knowing your specific circumstances
Thanks for my whole heart.
What if your 10yr employment history can’t hold. What do you do?
The guide and I always recommend adding the full 10 years in your own table, and adding to client information.

Hello sir please how many time take this number take exemption number of Lmia 🙏🏻
AWESOME DETAILED COTENT
thanks a lot for this video it really helped me so much
Super.. Expecting more informative videos which is helpful for foreigners to work or study
Thank you, please let me know which more you want to see. More are coming!
I want ask you that how to extend LMIA work permit with another LMIA letter.
@@sjpimmigration please can tell me how to apply with second LMIA letter
That would be a closed work permit application. I don't have a video for LMIA specific yet, but I have LMIA exempt closed, as in this case. It would be very similar, but would include the offer of employment from employer@@nitumotwani
Hi, I have submitted my LMIA exempt application for Work Permit and I live in Canada. I submitted my application on Feb 20 but still waiting. I have got my PNP nomination certificate during this time too and I am going to apply for PR separately, but I need my work permit now. What to do if my work permit is delayed?
Did you get work permit support letter first?
Hey can I apply close work permit without LMIA ,
If you qualify under a specific LMIA-exemption then yes.
How to apply for letter of support ?
It varies province to province!
Thanks. This very helpful
