I sometimes worry about injuries too (at 54), but like you mentioned, I just take it slow. I love doing it, and watch other skaters for motivation and technique. Enjoy your spring and summer skating!

Thanks! Anything can happen but I feel like falling sometimes is good for you. People go decades without ever falling down and then when it finally happens it wrecks them! Even skating at a chill pace, I fall sometimes, especially going backwards. I love learning from other skaters too! You never stop learning as a skater!

I fell roller skating and fractured my shoulder at 52. I healed up just fine, but it scared me so much I quit. I’m back trying to get started again. Love your grey too! I’m growing mine out. Subscribed.

The club I skate with has skaters from 18 to 70! Rollerskating is for all ages. The injury is scary, understandable. Get all that safety gear on and start slow but don’t give up on it! Thanks about the hair, I’ve had it in my 20’s and when i turned 39 I decided to embrace it!

Thank you! I started seriously skating as an adult early 2019, and began outdoor skating in August ‘19. I learned the most the following year, so I’d say it took a full year to feel relaxed skating outside.

I needed this pep talk today. Il be 56 in a few months, and started trying to skate 2 months ago. Im still terrified to skate outdoors. I started in my tiny kitchen, then when i went outside, ive really struggled. Every time i try and branch out to skating on larger surfaces, (that arent smooth), i panic. I could use some advice on how to get started on rough concrete. Ive been searching nonstop for a decent place to skate. So far everywhere i go its really rough. As soon as i start to try, i immediately feel like im going to fall. Im using 78a wheels which are supposed to be perfect for that type of surface. But as soon as i start to roll, they want to stick and trip me up. How did you get started when skating on rough concrete?

I'm right in there with you.. I started back at like 35-36 & I'm 41yo now and have been trying to carelessly skate outside since I started but our roads suck! And I'm an introvert 😂.
I fell on a kick scooter 2 weeks ago and I've been a daredevil ever since. Because who falls on that and can't wipe their own butt for days .. me 😂😂. I let my kids tick me off so bad I left my gear and immediately regretted it. I'll be here. You just keep posting ❤😊❤

lol if you lived near me I’d be getting you to come out and skate! You sound fun 😄 Most of the roads are bad here too. Have you tried bike trails?
