    Of the 15 or so RV channels that I watch, I have always liked what you have done with your trailer. The light coloured walls, especially with all the windows, make your home seem so spacious it's hard to believe that it's only 26 feet. Well done.

    I absolutely love the layout of your 5th wheel and what you've done with it!

    Okay, I finally found what your RV looks like and what I can say is RV companies need to just hire you guys to BUILD RVs that look like THIS from the get go. This is what everyone wants including that Berkey you've got sitting beside you. A practical kitchen you can actually cook in. Why can't RV companies sort this bit out? None that I have seen look like this. What all did you have to change btw? Anyways, just wanted to say I'm so dang impressed with what the two of you have done! Plaudits! 👏🏻 👍🏻

    I am so glad I found your channel! My wife and I are looking to purchase our first Travel Trailer or Fifth wheel! Like you and your husband neither one of us have stayed in a trailer, but we want to cut cost and save money! Your channel has truly truly inspired us to look at some rvs we can flip instead of buying new!!!!

      We are so glad to hear that! No payments on the road makes a HUGE difference. If you want to see before and after photos for our RV, go here: towanderfreely.com/our-rv-the-renovation/ Warm regards to you two, and don't hesitate to send us any questions to towanderfreely@gmail.com

    I'm impressed by what you've done with the space. Your washer/dryer installation was one of the first videos I ran into when we decided to pick up an older 5th wheel. Thank you for making the videos.

    I LOVE how you two have made a beautiful and functional home in your RV. May I ask for suggestions for working on the road?

    • @ToWanderFreely
      @ToWanderFreely  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Maggie! Chris is a structural engineer, but he also does a lot of AutoCAD drafting...computer-aided drawings for other engineers and cabinet making businesses. I would start with what you do now - is there any way you can take those skills on the road? Work camping may be an option too. Hope that helps!

    I love the kitchen! I just bought my 1st Pickup Truck, and will be looking for a camper later this year. I was always concerned about the kitchen counter size as I spend more time in the kitchen cooking from scratch. Your tour gave me confidence. I was wondering how you chose your camper and avoided water damage or mold, which seems to be a big concern of older rv's. Appreciate your video content and pictures, and any advice. Thank you again! God Bless your travels!

    • @ToWanderFreely
      @ToWanderFreely  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Great question. We were on a major time crunch when we made the switch to fulltime RVing, and we were shortsighted in our hopes - we did not plan on loving this as much as we do and keeping it going this long. So, we did not spend a lot of time shopping around. In fact, we decided that we wanted the rear kitchen and the full bath, and that really limited the search for us. From there, we looked online until we found one with our desired layout near us, and we ended up buying that one. There was an area in the slide where they had replaced part of the wall with panneling, evidence that they had fixed a water issue. It looked good though with no other damage, so we were ok with that. RVs are certainly not made to last, and travelling in any RV causes damage over time - it is just part of it. Now that we have had ours for almost 2 years, we have to do some repairs - we have some delamination that needs addressed. I don't think you can foresee something like that - it certainly wasn't like that when we purchased it, but along the way it has slowly become a problem. When looking at RVs, make sure you really scrutinize the exterior: look for patching, carefully look over the seams, look for extra caulking. For the interior: look for bubbling under the windows, check the window perimeters, look for patching, walking along all of the floor (inch by inch) and see if anything feels spongey or soft. I will have to do a post on this soon, but these are just our quick tips. Abundant blessings on you in your journeys!

      Thank you, that was very informative and will help me more in my search. I look forward to your video on this subject. I am glad you know God is always with us. Take care. :)

      We should plan on it...and we can welcome you two into our Aliner...lol. Our friends went camping with us 2 yrs ago and they have a huge, toy hauler 5th wheel. We set up our Aliner next to theirs....and it is so comical...so I nicknamed our Aliner "The Midget Mobile"....lol...but, I do love the simplicity of ours a lot!!! It is perfect for us right now.

    I love your RV renovation! You guys have good taste! Can I ask you what your kitchen counters are made of? They look like granite, but I would think that they would be super heavy! Thanks!

    • @ToWanderFreely

      Thank you for the kind words! Our counters are just laminate from Lowe's. You are correct, adding granite would be a major addition to the weight.

      @ToWanderFreely  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Debra! I was a little reserved when we first picked up the trailer, I really hadn't towed anything in my life. But I persevered and it actually got pretty comfortable after the first few thousand miles!! I like the idea of a camper van too, much easier to get around and in/out of tight spaces. Thanks for the kind words on the remodel!!

      No problem - I just realized that when I responded to you, I wrote 2016!!! Who is the dummy??? It is a 2006. I am sorry for all the confusion, and don't worry about missing it in the description box - it is easy to skip over. :)

    love the update tour. I have to ask with the fact that rv walls are not as sturdy ad your typical house. what to you use to hang your coat rack and the hanging thing in your bedroom on the wall. As always thanks for sharing.

      Hi, Marguerite. Excellent question. We just used small screws (no anchors). We have not had any problems, but we do keep the storage on them lightweight. Hope that helps!

      Hi Marci, we actually just posted a video series on that! Click here th-cam.com/video/N3F36VJIYlY/w-d-xo.html for part 1 of 3 which covers packing up the interior. Part 2 of 3 covers packing up the exterior, and part 3 of 3 covers unpacking/setup once you've reached the next campground. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    love this video...I see you painted over all the usual rv paneling..any special primer or paint needed ?

    • @ToWanderFreely
      @ToWanderFreely  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, we just used a regular primer and then eggshell paint from Sherwin Williams. Fortunately, our walls and wood were a medium color, not really dark like some RVs. I think we did 1 coat primer and 2 coats paint on the walls, and then 1 coat primer and 3 coats paint on the cabinets. Tedious, but the results are well worth it! :) -Jen

    My wife is in the process of making our RV ours with painting and I am just curious about what process you went through to paint and what kind of paint you used? Also how well has the new paint held up? TIA

    • @ToWanderFreely
      @ToWanderFreely  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Bryan! We used Sherwin Williams - a high gloss on the cabinets and an eggshell finish on the walls. We did not use a paint system. For the cabinets, we just sanded, then primed & painted. For the walls, we just painted right over the wallpaper, because ours was in really good shape. All of our paint is holding up very well - we are really pleased with it. We have not touched up anything yet, and are still really happy with it. Hope that is helpful! Best wishes with your reno and upcoming travels!

    So once again the MAN supporting the woman, nothing new. I can't figure out this lifestyle, this camper thing looks nice, but I guess you must really have to like "views" in order to want this lifestyle. Nothing says awesome then making my own home brewed coffee in my 650 sq foot kitchen then watching a little morning news on my 70 inch 4k TV. Nice videos though, so that's a Plus :)

    • @StacyForest738
      @StacyForest738 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotta disagree. To me, nothing says awesome like making my home brewed coffee while looking out over the Badlands of South Dakota, skipping the news and 70 inch TV, for going outside and sitting in the sunshine, feeling the breeze, and watching the colors of the canyon change as the sun comes up. But to each his own, some of us didn't have enough "stuff" as children and need to feel important and vindicated with "'things"...not me, I will take nature and experiencing real living ANY DAY!.
