I know you do not answer back from messages, however, just to let you know what you have done for me. I am an accomplished artist with paintings in collections all over the world. My main medium now after first working with oil is acrylic. I continue to paint like an oil painter. BUT, I am always trying to learn new mediums. Watercolor has been hard for me to grasp. But after watching your videos I feel like I may be able to learn this medium eventually. Funny, but I am actually doing BETTER with alcohol inks than watercolor. Keep providing us with your teaching and paintings. Thank you, Karen Groeniger….I can be Googled or my Facebook art page. Not that you will but I am fairly good in my preferred medium.
You are such an inspiration to me! I have bipolar depression, and sometimes no matter how much I want to paint I just can’t seem to get my mind to work right. Your techniques and your fun, loving personality always helps me so much and the flow of your videos is very therapeutic for me. Thanks for this terrific demonstration!
I dont know if you listen to the same music we hear...but You kept time beautifully with what we heard...........and all of a sudden with a few strokes of your brush there was a small pond in the painting.........Magic and wonderous to me.......Thank You!
NO body does spontaneous like you do, Steve! And may I say, I'm sure that you could do that with a garden stick..... Thank you for showing us this new set - they seem to do the job quite nicely. I value your opinion very highly as it influences my opinion and choices of products - thank you for that.
Pareidolia! My partner told me a couple of years ago that I have pareidolia. I'm discovering that it is a major help in watercolor painting. I think that watching you paint I have stretched it further and now pass on the label to you! par·ei·do·lia ˌper-ˌī-ˈdō-lē-ə -ˈdōl-yə : the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. Thank you for your willingness to share your skills with us newer artists, young and old.
"Technical info" can be good if its relevance to the subject under discussion is explained--as you usually do. A bunch of "tech speak" just meant to impress the listener (done all to often by some) is often ignored. Another fine example of playing around with watercolor while testing brushes. Thanks for the demonstration and evaluation.
I always enjoy product reviews. They have saved me money and pointed me in the right direction. Always love to see the spontaneous paintings, mine don’t seem to work out as well but what fun.
Of course I watched and with the music…and when it was time for you to stop I thought it was a football game and kept saying stop😂. It turned out great. We all imagine scenery differently and that’s what makes painting beautiful! 😊
Watching the shadows go in to define the branch layers is just so magical. I was intrigued by the use of the opaque gouache, assume for contrast. Just stunning.
What I look for is a sturdy ferrule and how well the brush comes to a point. And of course the feel of the brush fibers. I’m anxious to try the ‘oval wash’ . Great video, wonderful painting
I just love the spontaneous watercolor you do. Thanks for the tips on water. That seems to be my biggest issue, along with paints that dry out and I use quality stuff. 🤔.
Hullo Steve, Lovely painting and a truly sweet collection of brushes! I have more brushes than I can possible use up before I pass on! I believe that synthetic brushes have come so far in just the last 10 years! I think many are even better that natural hair brushes! Mixing and matching the different diameter hairs of synthetics are an ingenious method of creating these new age brushes! These are beautiful to hold and their looks are quite nice too! Thanks for the review and painting in action!
I love it when I can look at your spontaneous washes & see the trees & rocks emerging way before you put them in lately. These brushes look like the stiffer & snappier type of brushes that I am looking for. I am definitely going to have to give their website a look. Also glad to know how long the Kolinsky Sable brushes will last, especially for the price. This painting is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video & testing out the brushes.
Hi Steve, Just wanted to thank you for all the inspiration your spontaneous paintings gave me when I first discovered your channel during covid, when I finally had time to paint. If only I had had a teacher like you years ago. They all said you just had to loosen up and let the watercolor do it's own thing , but until I found your channel that never made any sense. Your spontaneous techniques have been incredible inspiration and jumping off points to some of my best impressionist landscapes ever since. All the wondrous little nooks and crannies of nature just keep appearing as you work on them, drawing you into an unknown wonderland. It's no wonder they are always so popular. Thanks again, Steve!
Thank you for posting this. I need to invest in watercolour brushes. I'm used to brushes that are not too soft. That makes me think half my brushes may not even be watercolour brushes. I will check these out. I appreciate your reviews and a wonderful spontaneous painting to enjoy.
The cats tongue brush performed well. I’ve just bought one and haven’t used it yet. The painting is lovely. One can see the sunshine through the trees. Well done and thank you. 😊
It's funny. Most people seem to have a soft spot for palettes or paints....like they need to try out the newest thing. For me it's brushes....I'm always looking for my next best brush!
Thanks for introducing your audience to the Dynasty Water Lily brush. This is a very informative and fun to watch video. I love watching your spontaneous paintings and especially love this one! Your talent, experience, great teaching style, and kindness are always appreciated and by many others as well I'm sure.
I appreciate your reviews. I recently watched some of your quick pen/ink/watercolor demos. Toward the end you recommended several books on the subject. I bought ALL of them and found them very inspiring. The books by Claudia Nice were a revelation. THANK YOU! I REALLY enjoy your videos. I've watched countless hours going back to some of the first ones you presented as well as your most recent ones.
This was a delightful study for using earthtones for a landscape. Your attention to detail 12:24 and working with different sizes of brushes helps a student learn how to paint dimensional paintings. You are a great teacher. Thank you.
I’ve been using silver black velvet ever since you recommended them a hundred years ago. They are workhorses and never disappoints. But these look interesting and I may try one. Thanks for the review, I always love watching your spontaneous paintings!
I recently started to watercolor and found you and am so happy I did. I love your videos especially the spontaneous ones. I also just totally love the music in this one, sounds very Celtic. Love your channel.
Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve just started watercolor and have watched many TH-cam videos out there (all great), but yours are by far the most helpful! Found your channel through a Reddit thread rec. Great teaching and so much great advice. So helpful and awesome - thank you 🙏🏼 God bless 🤍
That is a beautiful painting! and I love the color of the newest brushes you like with more snap.
Of course we’re going to watch it! New brushes and a spontaneous landscape, what more could we ask for??!!
I love your spontaneous painting. I tried it yesterday, and it's a blast!!!

You rock Steve.... I've been looking for a brush sold as a set. Thanks for doing this.
I look forward to all your videos.
Beautiful spontaneous painting and those brushes are tempting to get !!!
It is magical ! I must say magic is in your style not in brushes. Thanks for sharing it 😊
I love how you say (regularly), it turned out better than I thought it would. You are an amazing artist.

It's not the brushes it is your talent .
Beautiful
Glad to see that you worked in some gouache.
I liked the tech detail about the brushes. Thanks for that. Beautiful spontaneous painting!
Mesmerizing. Thank you❤

Absolutely beautiful. I am so inspired thank you Steve
Oh my word, what a gorgeous painting! Wow. Reviews are always good too.
Of course I watched and with the music…and when it was time for you to stop I thought it was a football game and kept saying stop😂. It turned out great. We all imagine scenery differently and that’s what makes painting beautiful! 😊
Another great one Steve! I have couple of Dynasty Black silver but they really are a student line. These Water Lilly brushes look like a must try!!
Me too! I use those for oil and they are dreamy to work with, so I’m excited they came out with a watercolor line too!
For sure we are going to watch!
I have found by watching you that a true artist such as yourself can paint with any brush!! Thanks again 😊
My pleasure 😊
Watching the shadows go in to define the branch layers is just so magical. I was intrigued by the use of the opaque gouache, assume for contrast. Just stunning.
Love the music🎶🎵
I’ll watch it 😄
Looks fantastic!!
The landscape painting turned out beautifully, and those brushes look awesome. Thank you for sharing this video with us!
Boy that one turned out! I think I would be tempted to turn some of those lighter foreground areas into some rock shapes.
Love to watch you painting, my faves are the spontaneous landscapes ...see it coming to life from "splashes" of color to trees
The spontaneous painting looks great , the blanks on the bottom look like rocks. How magic. I also love the music you choose.
I love this painting so beautiful just in time for fall!! Oh how it's my all time favorite time of the year!
Love the painting you made ❤
A beautiful, inspiring way to start the day!
Frankly i’d watch any video of yours with a spontaneous painting. This turned out so great. Thanks for the video, love your channel !!!
I really love the paints that you have used. The colours are fall-pretty 😊.

It's amazing to see the wonderful images that appear every time you put the brush to the paper, seemingly at random. Thanks👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The painting is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The brushes are quite pretty and seemed to work well.
I love it Steve!!!!! Those brushes look great!
