Historia :
O jovem Ryo Sakazaki é o herdeiro do Kyokugen-ryu Karate, sendo o filho mais velho de Takuma Sakazaki. Ryo nasceu japonês, mas tem ascendência alemã por parte de sua falecida mãe, Ronnet.
Desde cedo, Ryo foi treinado no Kyokugen-ryu Karate por seu pai, que sempre lhe deu maior atenção no quesito artes marciais, uma vez que Yuri era proibida tanto por ele quanto por Takuma de praticar Karate. Quando sua mãe veio a falecer, Takuma mudou-se para a cidade de South Town, nos EUA.
Com a criação do dojo Kyukugen, alguns alunos vieram com o intuito de aprender a arte. Um deles era Robert Garcia, que rapidamente se destacou como um dos melhores discípulos, junto com Ryo. A amizade/rivalidade deles se tornou notória.
Com o seqüestro de Yuri por Mr. Big, Ryo partiu por toda South Town em busca de pistas. Nesta empreitada, ele teve ajuda de Robert. Na tentativa de encontrar sua irmã, ele chega a um bar, propriedade de Big, que estava sob os cuidados de uma pessoa chamada King. Sem a menor cerimônia, Ryo ordena que King confesse onde era o paradeiro de Yuri. King, que não tinha nada a ver com a história, diz que se ele quisesse algo teria que lutar. Ryo partiu para o ataque...
Um combate equilibrado se desenrolou entre eles, mas a determinação de Ryo foi maior e ele conseguiu executar um Ko Ou Ken muito poderoso, que atingiu King e rasgou-lhe a camisa. Surpreso, só então Ryo percebeu que era uma mulher e prontamente pede-lhe desculpas. Comovida pela primeira demonstração de gentileza de um homem em sua vida, King ajuda Ryo a encontrar Yuri e derrotar Big. Ryo ainda lutou contra e venceu um homem chamado Mr. Karate, mas descobriu que este era seu pai disfarçado! Takuma usou uma máscara para não arruinar sua reputação, uma vez que Big o forçou a fazer atos pouco honrados.
Desde o incidente com Yuri, King se tornou uma amiga da família, principalmente de Ryo. Porém, Takuma e Yuri insistem que a “amizade” deles se torne algo mais...
Quando Takuma recebeu um convite para o torneio The King of Fighters, Ryo rapidamente tomou a dianteira da equipe e formou o time com ele, Robert e Takuma, fato que deixou Yuri extremamente irritada...

@@Ghostface711 I've heard that Ryo is the first guest character ever, his such a legend but SNK seems to hate him. They should give his cool movements back and treat him more seriously imo. I like the actual design though, better than that from kof 96 and so

You know dudes & dudettes Ryo is one my favorite Fighting Game Characters now this Ryo dude is so awesome and not just him that is the best at there own Karate Style known as the Kyokukenryu Style but his little sister & father and his best friend they all are the best at Kyokukenryu Karate Style and Ryo totally reminds of my last Amateur MMA Fighter I lost to he was so good at both Karate Styles of: [Goju-Ryu & Shotokan] he also knew both: [Jujutsu & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu] he knew how to hold his own in any other Amateur MMA Events and for once I lost he was too quick for me I couldn't keep up with him until round one ended and when it got to round two I barely lay any rounds on him but he got me with one good strike I was stun for a second but I manage to shake it off he try to get in a double leg takedown but I knee strike him and gotbhim good it stun him but not long when I try to use my Roundhouse Kick on him but he dodge it right on time and he manage to threw to the floor and just right about he put me in a lock hold that is when round two ended and when got to round three he manage to end our third round when he man had manage to do the double leg takedown on me and he quickly got right behind me and put me in a: [The Rear Naked Choke Hold] on me and didn't let go until at one point I couldn't take it anymore and I tap out big time on that dudes & dudettes he won that and his name was: [Benny] and he came up to me and said: [don't feel so after one lost all you have is a struggle which means you can keep going if your isn't good enough then you could feel down] and I said thanks dude I'll keep that in mind but good fight though huh, and after that I just went home and sleep it off I didn't feel like drinking that night and anyway this is a good video on Ryo story mode knowing he is one of my favorite game characters in the Art Of Fighting Series knowing he is awesome don't you think so dudes & dudettes.!?¡¿ ♤♡♧◇€£₩¥☆

Ese juego, fue la entrega de SNK, después de Fatal Fury y antes de KOF 94. CAPCOM demandó a SNK, por plagiar el juego, y SNK defendió a Art Of Fighting, y siguió el trabajo

Gráficos muito bem trabalhados pra época. Percebe-se o cuidado nos detalhes
A Snk dava realmente uma surra no início, nos primeiros jogos de todas as suas séries. O problema é que o nível de esforço (ou sei lá, de recursos mesmo) foi caindo depois de meados dos anos 90 mais ou menos, aí eles começaram a reciclar demais. Tipo, antes dissi todas as sequências tinham gráficos novos, mais detalhes, mais refino, muitas vezes músicas novas, e golpes novos para alguns chars.
@@carlosaugusto9821 verdade acho que depois da entrada daquela outra empresa "Eolith" eu acho... a essência criativa foi embora junto com a SNK. Até hoje, fico impressionado com os gráficos do Samurai Shodown II, KOF 94, 95 e 96, a série Metal Slug 1 a 3, Fatal Fury 3, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, sem falar no Garou: Mark of The Wolves (lindo). Talvez tenham mais

"Kyoku Gen?" Everywhere else, it's written "Kyokugen." For those who don't know, traditional Japanese writing does not have spaces between words, so sometimes translators have to guess.

Provavelmente não. É dito que o próprio Eiji, é do clã Kisaragi (daí o seu estilo marcial ninja), a parte sobre a Mai no diálogo é somente na versão Americana, pois na japonesa é outro texto. Fora que ele provavelmente não teria nenhuma conexão com a Mai ou com o Clã, pois essa época, 1978, a Mai só tinha 5 anos de idade.
