- For ex-ballplayer Billy Wyatt (Mark Harmon) whose drive never matched his big-league prospects, the high point of his life was the summer of 1964. Decades, later, Billy returns home to recall the past - and the person who made it special. Harmon and Jodie Foster star in Stealing Home, a bittersweet story “beautifully written a la Moonstruck” in which “you’ll spend a couple hours lost in a wonderful world” (Bill Cosford, of the Miami Herald). As a burnout seeking redemption, Chicago Hope’s Harmon hits the mark as the older Billy, and the luminous Foster sparkles as Katie, the friend and mentor who vibrantly draws the loose ends of Billy’s past and present together. Buoyed by a marvelous golden-oldies soundtrack, Stealing Home is a warm, wistful memory-lane journey.

Watched long time ago, forgotten most of it by now, but funny somehow, time to time i remember a few glimpses from it. Like how beautiful youth is, an how fast it fades.
Thanks for review, you did a good job.
Nice review! I like the recommendations at the end your videos. The Natural definitely has a soaring soundtrack.
2023 And remains BEST film to me.
So happy you still love it, Jean Marie. One of those "stands the test of time" films for sure!
@@Viewin_N_Reviewin Yes, I agree.
I love this movie.
One of my all-time fav romances. :-)
Hi Bobby thank you for creating this video. I recall renting this film several times in the early 90's and loved it. Looking back I can't understand Katie's character or her motivations. I don't remember what her parents were like and cannot even speculate why she committed suicide. I realize we are not told the reason she took her own life but truly I don't get this angle of the film do you?
I wouldn’t venture a guess since we never saw Katie after Billy’s last summer at home. It sounded like she married multiple times and never found happiness. Depression takes a toll on whom ever and for whatever reason. Probably why Billy felt so helpless since Katie didn’t seem to reach out to him until after her death. I’m sure he wished she found help somewhere along the line. But it’s a lovely movie for all the right reasons as well. We always seem to have “that” summer(s) we wish we could relive in perpetuity. Maybe that’s what Heaven is. :-) Thanks for watching, K Payge!
