My family has known Roger personally and very well for many years, he’s an incredibly talented guy! I am still hoping to one day have one of his in house made basses, my dad already has 2 and they are amazing! I’ve heard the overseas stuff is great for the price range though!
i bought a metro express p/j and I have to say it sounds pretty darn good and feels fairly light. The one thing that really disappointed me the most was the horrible fret work. I literally cut my hands up to the point they were bleeding....and this is after I filed the frets down! I honestly can't believe Rodger would stoop this low and tarnish his good name with something this bad. I guess a person could spend a couple hundred more bucks and take it to a luthier but that would sort of defeat the purpose of an affordable bass?

Sadowsky comes very close to being my favorite J but that single piece neck with no reinforcement is a pain to manage in my east coast climate swings. It was REALLY disappointing to redo my setup every week for a $4000 instrument and so it went back. My Schecter J below the $1000 mark remains my favorite FSO.
Maybe the roasted maple on this bass will offer some more stability. I agree though you want the neck to be as stiff as possible on a 5 string Jazz or the B string will get tubby.
Love them both basses! The Sting Ray typically a bit more compressed sounding and the Sadowsky with it’s more open sound! Both undisputed legends … and the way you groove too
There are two strips of Graphite in every MetroLine neck. We have had no issues with neck stability. Wood often takes a few weeks in a new climate to stabilize.
The sadowsky smx 2nd edition it’s years ahead from the fender player Mexican plus I owned the American jazz elite but I’m planning to get this sadowsky model in sage green morado fretboard 5 strings and gig bag including it’s a plus to get it
Thanks for the great info. I think overall this is a better option than the Player Plus Jazz. The single coil noise is still a bit much for me though. Are the Sadowsky stacked noise cancelling JJ pickups better? The stacked coil pickups are Stacked Coil - SAC PU J5 S ST . Can't find the part number for the ones in the stock MetroExpress. Thanks.
I love this channel, the players, the equipment you guys show, but the one thing that gets to me is the SOUND. Something is too compressed. I listen to the other bass videos and this isn't the case. One thing I'd look at is the actual sound that your viewers are hearing b/c there's gotta be a better way to get that awesomeness across without one major component being out of whack.
Great playing and what sounded like very honest sound clips. I did find the review a little bit odd. A lot of if your used to holding a bass a lot you won't find the weight a problem. If your used to a 5 string the neck won't be a problem. If you don't like active turn it off. What did you personally think of the bass?
You can mod in a VTC pretty easily, but I agree they should have come like this from the factory. Seems a weird corner to cut, not being able to actually turn down your treble on a jazz bass.
I'm sold on Sadowsky basses. I have a 69 Fender Precision w/Jazz Neck at the time custom color, Ocean Turqoise, block inlay on rosewood neck/bought at the music store I worked for in 1969. 2024 and Fender Custom Shop says "Sorry we won't touch it because you don't have a receipt"; although I do have owners manual with name of "E Paxton", only Custom Shop in Colorado is HB Woodsong, Boulder. I thought Fender had control of their channel. I believe Woodsong is telling Fender that no receipt, no work. Moving away from Fender. If they wouldn't do this to a Senior, think what they'll do to you. Buyer Beware. I will post this on other sites selling Fender.
I purchased one of these when first released and in honesty i was very unimpressed. I found it thin and lacking in J bass character. Had to use patches to get a decent sound. I had to sell it on in the end.

That bass sounds solid. Great playing guys

00:08 Are you Gonna Go My Way - Lenny Kravitz; 13:28 is the same song.
Holy sweet mother of all that's holy I want one of those!!!!!!
Ha cool to hear Blackened. It being a Jason song who still plays Sadowsky’s 🤘🏼 I always wished he would get a signature model that I could get

I've owned 4 for over 15 years and never had that issue.

hi and thanks for your videos!!! how do you compare this bass to Sire's Marcus Miller jj ones?
I'll stick with my G&L JB. Can't beat George for the price. Also have the Sterling Sting Ray 5 you have listed and love it too.
G&L's Tribute line is serious bang for the buck. L2500 CLF here. Versatile Workhorse.
Sadowsky metro express vs fender jazzbass player plus
Who wins?
I played the 4 string version of both and the Sadowsky KILLED the player plus.

Thanks for sharing 🙏🎸🎶🎵🇬🇧

i love your video when your video on the ···And Justice For All album from Metallica
How do you equalize specially on 7:00 min i like it the sound soo good!!
Active - passive switch is fine, but does it have passive tone control? If not, all other quality points aside, that would be a no-go for me.
Jfet pre with passve tone controls. Boost only. From Premier Guitar review.
@@01frugalbassist85 Cheers!

I’m pretty sure there’s no passive tone control, and the preamp is boost only. Definitely a deal breaker for me.
No passive tone, but the VTC is pretty easy to fit, was one of the first mods I did to mine, makes it infinitely more usable in my opinion
Does this bass comes with passive pickups??

But should I get this instead of the Sire????
That depends on what you’re looking for. Both offer great options.
Sire is better. You can try Lakland Skyline too, made in Indonesia but better than this. 35" with carbon rods in the neck.
Why does that one have sadowsky on the headstock?
Because the updated 2023 models now have the official logo.
because it was made in Japan where he has a patent on his name. The ones made in China he can't use his own name
@@megwell This is the updated Chinese made model with official headstock logo.
👍👌
No EMG this time, guys!
😂 YET!!!! What are some other pickups you may wanna see?!
Could just be my phone, but it sounds a bit thin. Again no headphones or car speaker. Something isn't sitting right in the ear.
Using headphones and I agree, seems compressed on the frequencies. Lacks some characteristic tone you'd expect from a J bass.
jason newsted
No ENG Pickups - bummer)))
yet......
Looks way better with the regular neck. Roasted maple doesnt work with a classic look. Should of left it as an option.
🥵🥵
Uhhh.. "TECHNICHE"??
I’m willing to bet the Markbass GV5 is a much better bass
