    Here is my next post on Clifford Brown’s solo over “Cherokee” from “Study In Brown.” This lesson focuses on the importance of playing musically at slow, medium & fast tempos, playing in different keys, and practicing with your left hand. Clifford’s solo on this is a good platform to help internalize different tempos, and learn to play even faster than the original recording. Although this is a highly complex solo, I think the approach is simple and suitable for all levels. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy!

    Take each 8 bar phrase and play it ih the cycle of fifths so its not an etude study but a jazz study to develop a Reflex response to the chord or a jazz vocabula .

    Very informative. Couldn't tell whether you were reading from sheet music. Just curious, have you played the solo so much at different speeds that you have the notes memorized?

    Fabulous playing, I saw in in Detroit right after you graduated at the Detroit Jazz festival for a Lee Morgan tribute with Sean Jones and a third player. You get better and better! Wowsa. Question are you tonguing every note or on some of the runs are you slurring? If you are tonguing each note are you double tonguing? On the triplets are you triple tonguing? I keep slowing it down but it hard to hear sometimes.

    • @christophervieth1618
      @christophervieth1618 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He is doodle tongueing. He has a video on that and ghosted notes that explains how to do it. It's not double tongueing. It's a very light single tongue where you move your tongue back and forth across the roof of your mouth.

    As bad as that rendition was, I can't imagine anyone living today getting any closer to the actual solo. This guy has Clifford's style down, which is like impossible, so props for that, but it's not a faithful reproduction.
