Thanks for the yellow X to mark where the shots land - I struggle to see where hits land on those targets when viewing on my phone so that was super helpful
@@buffalosoutdoors At the end of the video you showed three 22 Mag rounds that had light primer strikes, I would have liked to have seen you load them up and see if they would have fired the second time around. I am thinking that I need to get one of these, love shooting 22's and with all other ammo so expensive it makes a lot of sense. i also liked that you went and modified your front blade to suit your aim point, why not? Filing would be easy, but bending it I would have been worried that I'd tear it off, and you couldn't exactly have sent it back to the factory since it was a defect that it broke while you were bending it, though it should have been more precise from the faactory. Wishing I had enough property to have my own shooting range, and a cold one while plinking.
Just a little thing, I have found that most convertibles in the .22 caliber, their barrels are .224 dia because the bullets on most .22 magnums are sized to .224, the .22 LR and others like the Longs and shorts are sized to .223 dia. So, the .22 Magnums tend to be more accurate than the .22 LR and variants when fired in those convertible 22's, it's an opinion of mine also it isn't the "end-all,, be-all" of the subject- Dave
If you can still get Paco Kelly's Accurizer you might get the best of both worlds. It is essentially a swaging tool that allows you to bump up the diameter of lead .22 bullets.
With 22 Magnum this could definitely go from a target pistol to a CCW pistol, especially with 9 shots. You also get around the issue of reliability cuz it's a revolver. If you get a light strike just pull the trigger again. I just finally found somewhere to put one of these in laywaway, can't wait to try it out.
Too long for a CCW...AND, for less $$$, you can buy one of Diamond Back's DB9 Micros with 6 rds of Plus P ammo. Someone had too much time on their hands to do ALL that....Diamond Back didn't have to lower themselves to try and compete with Heritage's single-action BS OR try to recreate the High Standard Double-Nine... Good to get a double action revolver in this Western style, and also in those 2 calibers. I had a single action only Ruger, but would have preferred to have a double action. This is what I'll be looking for. Good range video, Thank you.

I bet if you tried a few different 22lr brands you’ll find rounds that shoot better for this gun. But like you said it seems to work just fine. I hope this gun does well so maybe they’ll put adjustable rear sights on them.
This was simply a great follow-up video to your first one. A friend of mine and I both purchased the sidekick as soon as they became available in our supply chain. It takes me 20 minutes to try and line up the cylinders to swap them out I was amazed at how easy yours was. My trigger in double action is still very hard to depress even though I now have perhaps 500 rounds through it. I have never had any problem in opening the cylinder by using the lug at the front of the barrel, although I noticed you can close your cylinder by simply depressing it into the frame whereas I have to slightly open the front lug to get the cylinder to close easily. Thanks for your excellent video.
Have watched as many reviews of this little revolver as I can, and as yet, I've not heard anyone mention the close similarities to the old High Standard "Double Nine" revolvers, and the rebranded HS revolvers that were sold through hardware stores from the 1950's well into the 70's, except for one review of a family piece owned by Hickock 45 purchased from the old Western Auto store, and that made no mention of the new revolver. Someone? Anyone? High Standard even used the same lockwork to make a 'service revolver' looking handgun that was a lot of fun, as well. My most bestest friend and I nearly wore an HS out shooting jackrabbits, crows, magpies, carp and suckers growing up as kids. Way too much fun!
I have the same revolver Hickock has, a Sentinel R-101. I also just got a Sidekick yesterday, so I haven't shot it yet, but the similarities are really obvious. I think I saw an interview of the Diamondback rep at SHOT where he mentioned the Hi-Standard revolvers.
I really like my Heritage Rough Rider 22lr/22wmr revolver but I am going to have to tweak it to make shoot where I aim because its not even close! I also really like the idea of a cowboy style 22lr/22wmr revolver but with 9 shot, swing out cylinders and in single/double action. I will be buying one.
My RR was shooting high and left. Built up the front sight with JB Weld and bent it slightly to the left. Would prefer to have adjustable sights, however.
The more I shoot 22 Magnum, the less surprised I am when I hear about light primer strikes. I had more light strikes on those than even with cheap 22 LR over the last few years. Maybe it is harder to prime that longer case?
I have a Marlin rifle that shoots 22Mag and does a light primer strike about 1 in 10… I’ve tried to find out why with no success. In the meantime I just rotate the round and try again… they alway fire on the second attempt
Great video! So glad you mentioned the Hi Standard Double Nine because I still have mine -- first gun I bought 1950-1960's. I never knew, until now, that a .22 Magnum cylinder was available for the Double Nine.
I've seen several videos on the Diamondback, and every one had low/right impacts. 🤔 Maybe this is a manufacturing issue? Hopefully Diamondback figures this issue before too long... as competitive as the 22LR revolver market is, with lower cost firearms, this could be a big stumbling block for them. Nice distance shooting, Buffalo 👍🇺🇸 I keep saying it... you're a MACHINE with handguns!
Shooting a little low and right is not an issue to worry about. It is not a manufacturing defect! As Buffalo said just tweak the front sight a bit. This sort of adjustment by the purchaser is expected. I won't hesitate one second to buy one.
I had a new 642 hit low right. Almost off the circle on a full sized pepper popper at 15y. Closer inspection (much closer) showed that the barrel wasn't properly clocked...meaning the fixed sight was not at 12 o'clock.
BTW, S&W was good about getting it fixed (this was probably 10yrs ago). It is beastly accurate...more so than anyone might suspect, especially with the stock sights and trigger.

Nice shooting. With adjustable sights it would be perfect. Can't decide between this and a Ruger Super Wrangler. Both have their positives. Thanks for sharing.
Good video. Perhaps in the future Diamondback will come out with an adjustable sight version. By the way, those old High Standard Double 9s had an extremely hard double action and sometimes they would catch and hang up when firing double action.
I like the features of this but in comparison to the Heritage Rough Rider I’d like to see you do a video on these two in comparison and the shooting and accuracy.
Great range review, Buffalo. I ordered mine yesterday in the burnt bronze. I'm considering their 2" birds head Sidekick that's coming out soon. I really wanted the S&W 43c but they are asking too much ($750). The 2" Sidekick won't be 11oz or have an internal hammer, but the additional cylinder makes it a great value.
Finally was able to pick one up. One range trip and finish is wearing bad. Had to file front sight and bend it to the left to get it to shoot poa. Won't group anything great. It's getting gone. Big regret purchasing this thing.
The hammer catching at half cock sounds like a timing issue. I shot a Colt Python a few years ago that did that every 2 or 3 shots. Colt said it was a timing issue anyways.
Very nice shooting!
Thank you!

I like the features of this but in comparison to the Heritage Rough Rider I’d like to see you do a video on these two in comparison and the shooting and accuracy.
Make note of witch cylinder gets a light strike. I guess that front sight adjustment work perfectly good stuff
thanks Buffalo. God Bless and stay safe.
As always, very much like your videos! Nice little pice!
Yep, definitely going to be on the purchase list this year.
They have not been released to public yet
Thanks for the review
Now I can see why you're growing a beard. You shot up all of your shaving cream 🤣
Another great video! Thank you....
HAHAHAHA! Good one!
Great video, you are correct if they don't shoot to point of aim it takes out the fun of shooting.
Thanks for the review. Appreciate it.
The hammer catching at half cock sounds like a timing issue. I shot a Colt Python a few years ago that did that every 2 or 3 shots. Colt said it was a timing issue anyways.
Totally agree Buffalo 22 Rimfire should be your self-defense weapon period by Last Resort only.
Freedom is the BEST!!! love the video and i will be getting this sidekick
If they offered these with adjustable sights, it would be kind of unrivaled for its price range.
Good review!
Great front sight adjustment. Front sight will probably appear darker since it is almost a Patridge.
Great video, really enjoyed it.
Awesome shooting as well.
I thought I wanted one of those but not now
Buffalo please a range review of the litro e badger
Great video, real nice shooting, thanks.
