Great doc and great album! It’s like a trip back to the 90s with some of the GRP label music, but also has the contemporary vibe of stuff like the most recent Protocol album by Simon Phillips. And I did get to see Dave Binney at 55 Bar several years ago. Great little venue with lots of killer musicians coming through.
I was heavily into fusion in the 80's and 90's but, like many, my gaze swept elsewhere for a good while. This marvellous music has reminded me of the very best that this genre can offer and the astonishing ability of every musician involved is clear throughout. That they can do this without rehearsal together in such a short space of time is just mind boggling. Utterly brilliant, consider my gaze diverted. Scott Devine, you monster.

Not to sound big-headed but I've wasted literal years trying to rehearse with people that couldn't cut it, and it was NOT top-notch jazz fusion, so there was no excuse.

I´ve been an addict of Fusion Jazz since the 70s with all the G.O.A.T.s that were and are are still around. The project you guys have accomplished for me was right up at the top from the first piece I´ve heard! Powerful, complex in the best ways, musical, groove for days and, being a Bass afficionado all my life... you so freakin´ nailed it!!! And you guys managed to have these top notch musicians which I so love from different settings! Thnx for creating this masterpiece and the documentary is the cherry on top... and Scott - your TONE is scary. So good you are with us all... Did someone say scenery??? Amazing!

A concise critique: Some great grooves in there. Always thought that some fusion can be ostentatious ("look at me" ). A thin dividing line which can be easily crossed. You've stayed the right side of it. Tasteful. Congratulations.

It reminds me of the way ECM would record their artists in the 70s and 80s; just a few days to get everything down live in the studio, no messing around. Very well done indeed 👏

Producing music like this is like like fine woodworking where every stroke of the saw, tap of the hammer, cut of the chisel must be exact and consistent while still leading to a work of art. Makes fine woodworking look like building a tree house.
