I learned some Sinhala some 55 years ago, when I was 9 - 11 years of age. Then due to some unfortunate circumstances I couldn't continue to learn the Sinhala language, and am now able to read the language with difficulties as I have forgotten most of what I learned. Now, at age 66, I am happy to revise what I have learned, and continue with my learning our sister language, SINHALA! THANK YOU National Language Academy!
உங்களின் இந்த சிறப்பான செயலுக்கு மிக்க நன்றி அத்தோடு இதை வெள்ளை பலகையில் எழுதி நேரடி காணொளி செய்தால் இன்னும் சிறப்பாக இருக்கும். (இதற்கு முன்பு உயிரெலுத்துக்கள் பாடம் போல)
Kudos to you! And, 9:26 1.ஶ = ශ gayanashayanna form of grantha. (this is not used in Tamil but can be seen in temples) 2.ஷ = ෂ payanashayanna form of grantha. ஸ- sa, ஷ - sha, ஜ - ja , ஹ-ha, ஸ்ரீ-sri are the only Grantha letters that are used now in Tamil language. (க்ஷ - ksha. Rarely you see this being used but can be represented by க் ஷ also that is normal nowadays) NB: Grantha script is used for writing foreign languages esp Sanskrit, Pali, prakrit etc in olden days in south india. Even Sinhala script is from Grantha lipi only. Sinhalese can easily relate to Malayalam script which is also from Grantha and have more similarities to Sinhala script. 7:42 And for "kolambu" that *la* is equivalent to *ள* only. Because Sinhala language is Indo Aryan family which doesn't have *ழ (குழம்பு meaning curry)* at all but *ள* that which can be seen in even Rig vedas (believed to be that it took it from Tamil language). ல= ල = /la/ ;ள= ළ= /ɭa/ ;ர= ර (soft ra)=/ɾa/ Pronunciation wise, practically in sinhala ර is used for both (ற, ர) and it will be less similar to Srilankan Tamil ர. Srilankan Tamil ர is same as Malayalam ര. Simply saying Sinhala is not having any exact letters for ன, ழ, ற( /ra/ Trilling ra), ஃ (this is not "akk" it is "ahh". Similar to Visarga ඃ, but not aha; it's "ahh". It's grammatical usage is different ) just like Tamil doesn't some have sinhala letters.
Nop. Sinhala can write all three letters you mentioned . ற - ට්ර ழ - ළ ண - ණ ன - න Sinhala has two letters for "Na" - න and ණ . And also two letters for "La" - ල and ළ. But now sinhalese do not pronounce ළ and ණ correctly . They pronounce it similar to ල and න . Colombo is wriiten as කොළඹ . NOT AS කොලඹ .
I enjoyed your lessons. Explained very well in Tamil. You are so efficient. Need more and more and make us speak Sinhala like Sinhalese folks. Thank you so much.
Kudos to you brother. Actually I was teaching in a sinhala medium school. My subject was English as a second language. I can speak sinhala. So i could manage my work. But I didn't know the sinhala letters properly. Now I got to learn it. Thank you brother

Sinhala is classified as Aryan language ,derived from Sinhala prakrit (Elu) spoken in Anuradhapura kingdom period.(3rd century BC - 4th century AD )
@@kalanaviraj7540 yes. But it does share many words with tamil and has high dravidian influence. Even the coastal people of our country look keralite.
