    The baby shark replay is epic. I wish I thought of that when I lived near 2 neighbors who liked to blast their music. If they can blast music and management wouldn't do anything then so could I. The same kids song on repeat all evening till they turned their music off. 😂

      Full volume of classic will usually shut off teens music. Put speakers on the porch.

    I just wonder why the person filed a lawsuit? Reporting the neighbor to the city and letting them know that he was ignoring the stop work order should have been enough. The city could get a judge to sigh a legal order - and could put the neighbor in jail if they ignored the court order - contempt of court.

      Permits and building codes exist to make sure things are safe. If there's no permit, then there's no way to ensure Mark's extension won't collapse on whoever he sells the house to, or that it won't compromise the safety of the rest of the structure. And even if he managed to ensure what he was building was safe, who's to say the next person to do the same would, or the next, or the next? There's a huge amount of rules like that, they seem like unnecessary bureaucracy but they're written in blood.

      Op in that story is a dumbass. What is it with the writers of these stories that they feel the need to have the OP of the story confront the toxic person when an intelligent person would have just reported the toxic person and let the chips fall, not give him advance warning, just so they can say "he was smug".

    This story is what goes through every Karen's mind. Permits aren't meant for safety, they're meant for control and revenue. It's the modern equivalent of bribes.
    Permits create job security because to get one (for that type of build) requires you to hire a County Approved architect, engineer and other contractors at 3-4x what it would normally cost.

      Actually if you read properly the issue was that he was building too close to the property lines. Also that the build was not up to code. There are reaasons for needing to get a permit. There are also rules about how much of your property can be covered by buildings.

    Op who’s a Bus Driver (NTA), I am Catholic and try to be nice to everyone. Obv there’s some who have upset me I don’t like. I should be above that I know. My bad. It says in the Bible treat others how you want to be treated. I also hate how so called Christians believe they are above others. They’re NOT.

    In alot of places simple rule is if you are doing plumbing or electrical work odds are you will need a permit. Also not sure if neighbor permission can over ride zoning setbacks

    • @buggsy5
      @buggsy5 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, setbacks and easements cannot be ignored or voided by permission of neighbors. It requires, as the least, specific legal action by whatever authority has jurisdiction. (USA)

    • @CynthiaRockroth
      @CynthiaRockroth 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right about that, to list a house you need a court order, ( for like a death of owner) or prove you own house just to list it.
      Same with selling a car, regerstion not in your name, court order needed. If putting in your name from a will or a judgment, Cort papers are required to re-register in your name.

    The story where the neighbor built so close to the property line. I don't necessarily think it was ops concern. No matter how much money someone has code enforcement will always catch up and even if they don't, he couldn't legally sell that house for its actual value. It is worth the pre-extension as it there were no permits for it, thus it did not exist.

    • @darleencherry4374

    • @buggsy5

      The construction is illegal. Even if completed, the authority having jurisdiction could require the neighbor to tear out all the illegal work. If they didn't, the city could hire a demolition company to do the tear out and bill the neighbor for the work. If they did not pay that bill, they would put a lien on the property, which means the neighbor would not be able to sell the property. (USA)

      You miss the point entirely. The point is that Slovaks have actual makes that are from the region. "Karen Johnson" is about as non Slovak as you can get, even ignoring the lack of ending on the surname ('-ova").
