I just want to say BTS never "split up". Yes they knew this was coming because this is a normal happening with all male kpop groups in South Korea for decades. BTS literally held a concert the other day with all 7 members. I know it's hard to believe but groups can remain together and pursue solo projects at the same time.
As a Korean it’s crazy how the government didn’t even know BTS decided it on their own. The thing is the government in Korea is so corrupted. Even us Koreans hate the government. They should have exempted BTS but they were dragging it out because they wanted money. Hope this is a lesson to the South Korean government. Right now everyone is scrambling to see what they could do to get BTS to stay and make them more money. They didn’t see this coming. I’m glad BTS just took matter into their own hands. BTS always said they would join the military when the time comes.

I am just an outsider looking in but I agree with you that the Government was dragging it's foot on the issue. Maybe it's me but it's a yes or no answer. Am I exempt? If not then fine say so. But the fact that they prolonged it for this long is ridiculous. I was always saying even if they came last minute and said well we will exempt u if u do X y or z ...I was still going. As a European Army for about 8 years, i think its a great thing bts took their fate in their own hands. The goverment has been playing with them and has been using them for their own gain. BTS took matter in their own hands by this decision, very proud of them. Staying True to themselves and Army. They havent split, they are still a group just releasing some solo projects at the moment. The government deferred BTS initially until they are 30 years old becsue of the impact they are bringing to Korea and said they will make their final decision about exemption in December. However BTS decided on their own without waiting for the government (to use them as pawns) and said we plan to enlist. Absolute power move and I love hat for them. Wish them the best. We will be here in 2025 it'll go in the blink of an eye. 🤗👏👏
I completely support the boys' decision to still serve their country. But, I am very worried of how things will be for them when they are already there. I hope no one does them bad things or treat them poorly. Honestly, idols/celebrities or not, I hope no one gets bullied while doing the best act men can do for their country. It's just a sad thought.

I am completely guessing, but based on what they've told us throughout the years: I believe they had initially planned to do some individual activites right after their MOTS World Stadium Tour, but then covid happened and they had to cancel the tour. They decided to spend their time during lockdown to cheer ARMY up and make some happy upbeat music without all their usual heavy lyrics, because they believed that's what we needed (and it definitely was for me!). Kpop companies (not HYBE) used BTS as an example to try to change the law of enlistment which led to the abilitity for some to defer (The "BTS" law) - ironically BTS has always said they'd serve when the time comes. I think they postponed the individual activities until the announcement in June to do it at the same time as the military service to make it easier for ARMY and them. I will definitely be there with them every step of the way and I will definitely be there when they return and "for the rest of my life" (as the lyrics go in one of their most recent songs "For Youth" that they wrote for ARMY). I have no doubt that the best is Yet To Come.
This is not a "split or break up" the members are limiting group activities and to concentrate on individual solo work, they are still a group. We trust BTS and BTS trust us (Army). We have faith in them that they will comeback better.

However, it will be a good chance to test how strong our bonding with the boys and how their masterpieces remain popular and widely spread during this period. It is another side proof about how great BTS as a Global Artist and being unreplaceable. Well, when they entered military service, they can treat the period as a rest to train their body, to have regular rest pattern to recover their long exhaustion, to get along with peers and make new friends that they all lacking of such opportunities ever since they were trainees. It certainly do good to them at an extend. It helps them to have more experience as youth and turning to be young men. Listen to more stories from peers and refresh their idea in song writing...etc. That's what they also ask for as they need to taste an ordinary life too. @@inessacco9970 I agree with you but they have mandatory military service in South Korea. The government was obviously not going to give them a deferment so they made the choice about when they will enlist which has to happen by the end of the year they turn 30 years old. They are making the choice of when and how they go but they don’t have the option to not enlist. It’s the law in their country unfortunately because they are technically still at war with North Korea and there are no peace talks. Instead they’re having missiles shot all around them from the north so they have to have a an active military presence. It’s a terrible situation and a horrible choice to have to make but they have to follow the law in their country. It’s a sad and unfair fact of life. 💜

The news lady asked whether the requirement for military service is a pre-empt for split or not. Just want to clarify there is no “split” to begin with, BTS is starting a new chapter in their career where they said they will focus more on solo activities, but they will still work on group activities. For example, while each member are all working on their solo albums, they still perform together at the concert held in Busan this past weekend or film variety contents (the show Run BTS) for ARMY.

They were too anxious to wait for the decision of their government. This depate started in 2018 and they kept pulling their legs and using them (with other companies) to make a case without BTS and their company present. They're supposed to have another meeting in december after monitoring their impact. So they're not waiting anymore and are going to serve.

BTS made the decision, as I understood the government was going to give a resolution until December. I think it's good that BTS took the decision in their hands instead of waiting for others to decide for them about it. For me BTS made a checkmate.

What more does a group have to do to forgo military service or to be granted alternative service? They have done more for South Korea's economy and brought more awareness to South Korea's tourism than any athlete. They have donated to many charitable causes, and been given numerous awards. They have been wonderful representatives for South Korea. I bet very few people can name a South Korean athlete who won a gold medal in the olympics but most people know who BTS are !

Media just say what they want and call it fact - they didn't "split up" at all, and in their recent Busan concert they even called out news outlets and media for fabricating this. Plus BTS don't want an exemption, they have said they are honoured and happy to serve. Army are sad about this news but proud of them and will support this decision.

We Armys are feeling sad right now..but at the same time very proud of them..As i understand..the SK government didn't have a decision until now whether or not they will give BTS a military exemption..it was BTS who made the decision that they will go fulfill their military duties..But one thing is for sure, Army will wait for their comeback as a group and will continue to support them no matter what..they will be releasing individual albums before going in the military so lets support them and Jin's solo album/single is coming this month..BTS and Army forever..

I am sad but still we can support them by voting for BTS on American Music Awards and MTV Europe. They were nominated for some of categories like K Pop, Metaverse, Best duo or group

That "they are proud to go to the service" seems ridiculous to me! It shows how bad they are about to cut their careers and what they love for going to lock themselves up there for a year and a half! They are going to experience horrendous things and put their physical and mental health at risk!! but I tell you something, for me it was hibe who also ruined everything with that statement!! The government's final decision was still missing, and there were chances to exempt them. Why didn't they wait another month and a half? And I also made it clear that they were proud to go, I let them see how they wanted to go. when it's obvious not!! who want to continue acting and singing. BTS took matters into their own hands and decided to enlist on their own without waiting for a government decision. They have always said they are reading and will to serve when the time came. I'm proud of them and ARMY..because I know we will be waiting and just as loyal when they are back.

They just focus on solo for now but keep doing group activities beside music. I just want to say BTS never "split up". Yes they knew this was coming because this is a normal happening with all male kpop groups in South Korea for decades. BTS literally held a concert the other day with all 7 members. I know it's hard to believe but groups can remain together and pursue solo projects at the same time.

As a Korean it’s crazy how the government didn’t even know BTS decided it on their own. The thing is the government in Korea is so corrupted. Even us Koreans hate the government. They should have exempted BTS but they were dragging it out because they wanted money. Hope this is a lesson to the South Korean government. Right now everyone is scrambling to see what they could do to get BTS to stay and make them more money. They didn’t see this coming. I’m glad BTS just took matter into their own hands. The government deferred BTS initially until they are 30 years old becsue of the impact they are bringing to Korea and said they will make their final decision about exemption in December. However BTS decided on their own without waiting for the government (to use them as pawns) and said we plan to enlist. Absolute power move and I love hat for them. Wish them the best. I completely support the boys' decision to still serve their country. But, I am very worried of how things will be for them when they are already there. I hope no one does them bad things or treat them poorly. Honestly, idols/celebrities or not, I hope no one gets bullied while doing the best act men can do for their country. It's just a sad thought.

I am completely guessing, but based on what they've told us throughout the years: I believe they had initially planned to do some individual activites right after their MOTS World Stadium Tour, but then covid happened and they had to cancel the tour. They decided to spend their time during lockdown to cheer ARMY up and make some happy upbeat music without all their usual heavy lyrics, because they believed that's what we needed (and it definitely was for me!). Kpop companies (not HYBE) used BTS as an example to try to change the law of enlistment which led to the abilitity for some to defer (The "BTS" law) - ironically BTS has always said they'd serve when the time comes. I think they postponed the individual activities until the announcement in June to do it at the same time as the military service to make it easier for ARMY and them. I will definitely be there with them every step of the way and I will definitely be there when they return and "for the rest of my life" (as the lyrics go in one of their most recent songs "For Youth" that they wrote for ARMY). I have no doubt that the best is Yet To Come.
This is not a "split or break up" the members are limiting group activities and to concentrate on individual solo work, they are still a group.
We trust BTS and BTS trust us (Army). We have faith in them that they will comeback better.

Hurts for BTS who is the ONLY Korean group that had global impact,psychsocioeconomic-wise...there could have been no argument about this had their gov't not granted any military exemptions to some of their sports athletes & musicians who we don't care about. We care for BTS coz BTS care for ARMY through their musical influences & like I said, had tremendous psychosocial impact.

@@akolngtoh2860 That's true though bitter sweet. Their career is still on the soaring side and the 2 to 3 years blank period did have some impact to them to be frank. However, it will be a good chance to test how strong our bonding with the boys and how their masterpieces remain popular and widely spread during this period. It is another side proof about how great BTS as a Global Artist and being unreplaceable. Well, when they entered military service, they can treat the period as a rest to train their body, to have regular rest pattern to recover their long exhaustion, to get along with peers and make new friends that they all lacking of such opportunities ever since they were trainees. It certainly do good to them at an extend. It helps them to have more experience as youth and turning to be young men. Listen to more stories from peers and refresh their idea in song writing...etc. That's what they also ask for as they need to taste an ordinary life too. So, the best option is to send them in together and return together. The best is yet to come! To the BTS! To ARMY!

The government was obviously not going to give them a deferment so they made the choice about when they will enlist which has to happen by the end of the year they turn 30 years old. They are making the choice of when and how they go but they don’t have the option to not enlist. It’s the law in their country unfortunately because they are technically still at war with North Korea and there are no peace talks. Instead they’re having missiles shot all around them from the north so they have to have a an active military presence. It’s a terrible situation and a horrible choice to have to make but they have to follow the law in their country. It’s a sad and unfair fact of life. 💜

The news lady asked whether the requirement for military service is a pre-empt for split or not. Just want to clarify there is no “split” to begin with, BTS is starting a new chapter in their career where they said they will focus more on solo activities, but they will still work on group activities. For example, while each member are all working on their solo albums, they still perform together at the concert held in Busan this past weekend or film variety contents (the show Run BTS) for ARMY.

What more does a group have to do to forgo military service or to be granted alternative service? They have done more for South Korea's economy and brought more awareness to South Korea's tourism than any athlete. They have donated to many charitable causes, and been given numerous awards. They have been wonderful representatives for South Korea. I bet very few people can name a South Korean athlete who won a gold medal in the olympics but most people know who BTS are !

Media just say what they want and call it fact - they didn't "split up" at all, and in their recent Busan concert they even called out news outlets and media for fabricating this. Plus BTS don't want an exemption, they have said they are honoured and happy to serve. Army are sad about this news but proud of them and will support this decision.

We Armys are feeling sad right now..but at the same time very proud of them..As i understand..the SK government didn't have a decision until now whether or not they will give BTS a military exemption..it was BTS who made the decision that they will go fulfill their military duties..But one thing is for sure, Army will wait for their comeback as a group and will continue to support them no matter what..they will be releasing individual albums before going in the military so lets support them and Jin's solo album/single is coming this month..BTS and Army forever..

You have to listen to testimonials from people who have gone and define military service as "hell" and also idols who say they suffered bullying, abuse and mistreatment by superiors. Many are also left with chronic physical injuries, especially on their knees from everything they make them do!
There are many ways to "serve" the country and not only with weapons! In fact they have already served as ambassadors on many occasions and doing many campaigns and free things that no other of those who exempted or no other kpop group ever did!!
