Give the girl a break guys! She flew home late the night before, I'm guessing hadn't even seen her kids yet (hence wanting to pick them up from school?) Yet there she is the very next morning, filming a video like a pro! Yes there was a slightly unblended bit of highlighter, yes she couldn't think of the word "New Yorker", yes the foundation was expensive! But ffs we have a nice long chatty video to watch, we don't have much to complain about there and not one of us here is perfect, so live and let live yeah? ✌
I would say "you don't look 37 yo", but you know what? There's nothing wrong with aging and you look even prettier, it's visible how well you take care of yourself! Love your content
So happy that you did this. People that don't live in the states think that we all wear the Instagram makeup look because of the popular TH-camrs. In reality most of us wear minimal makeup on a daily basis if any at all. The full face glam is saved for special occasions or a night out on the town. 😁
bnb0510 - Yes. I own so much make and wear so little of it- such a shame. 😏 Every time I put on a lot of makeup, I look in the mirror and it seems like it’s barely there!
I miss this kind of makeup on YT, i feel like now everything’s about full glam, tons of makeup, tons of foundations and falsies.... this is a « simple » but yet a georgeous makeup! So chic ! And you’re beautiful :) Love from France🇫🇷❤️😘😘
im a new yorker and I feel like you did pretty much my everyday work makeup look. really captured the essence of most new york women's everyday look. love it!
I love this idea! I do hope, if you decide to do an Indian theme, it isn't a bridal one? It sometimes feels like that's the only kind of Indian makeup featured... and there's so much more to our culture than that :) Honestly, I would love to see a makeup look inspired but the vibrant colors and designs on traditional Indian clothes. Thanks!!
PositivelyCatatonic you're so right :) Also, there are so many different types of Indian makeup- northern India is about bright, pale skin with vivid lips, Bengalis & Malayalis like big, kohl-rimmed eyes, Tamilian & Kannadiga girls like nice subtle looks, and Bombay is all about the fast life. Stereotypes, I know, but this series would have to borrow a lot from stereotypes! Sam & Nice should actually come for an India tour sometime, there's so much variety here- I'm sure they can come up with so many ideas!!
My daughter and her friends ( 28 -30 yrs. old ) wear minimal make-up on a daily basis and when they go out it's base, liner and a red lip. Of course, they all have beautiful skin and don't need much help like momma bear. They love to live in Manhattan and are very career oriented. One thing I noticed when I visited London, was that young people wore every color of the rainbow in their hair and hairstyles were not fussy. I Love, love, love London and hope to visit again. You look beautiful!
Joetta Slanger I'm from Southern New Jersey, at least part of the year living in an area only 20 minutes or so from Philly (and at the Jersey Shore the other part of the year).Perhaps we in part deserve our constant ribbing as the "Joke State" of America ;) , LOL! We're not all total dummies though. Agreed, you're a bit more worldly across the Delaware River than some of us, but some of us do enjoy the delights of your fine City and visit often. At least I do and soak up your opportunities for your rich history, Museums, Music, Cultural and Personal Diversity, etc. Also I'm lucky enough to be fairly well traveled and New York isn't unfamiliar to me although not anywhere near as much as the short drive to Philly, which my boyfriend and I make quite often, at least monthly to soak up what we lack locally. Hi Neighbor, hope I meet you one day! Nice meeting you through Social Media! Please come visit us, especially our Coastal areas, where I think we have at least lovely places, people, activities and views!
I love this classic look, thank you! I grew up in Washington DC and I now wear a pared down version this every day in Seattle. I like the emphasis on lashes and the stained lip is fantastic. Thank you for showing how to do it with a gorgeous lipstick that I might otherwise think is too much for me. Next up I'd like to see South America, Australia and New Zealand, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe. Thanks for your wonderful videos! For those negative commenters below, I say move along, plenty of other things to watch on TH-cam!
Love the look! I think I could wear it every single day. Thanks a lot for the tutorial! Hope you sort your leg soon, it's quite annoying to have this kind of injury and being held off the activities that you really love.
Nailed it! I’m about an hour from NYC and an hour from Philadelphia. You definitely nailed the NYC look. It’s very business chic. Maybe at night you will see a vampy lip color but the eyes are bare then. Philadelphia wears even less makeup in my experience. ❤️
Hey Nic, I just want to say thank you for raising awareness about multiple sclerosis! My dad was diagnosed when I was 15 and I became his main caregiver before making the decision to move away from my family for university. You have reassured me that my Dad can still live life to the full and that we have many more years to make memories together. I hope you continue to raise awareness about this illness that affects so many but not many know about. All my love and support, a fellow Norfolk lass xx
It's New Yorkers Nic. Isn't it frustrating when you can't think of an obvious word. Happens to me all the damn time. My kids put it down to age (cheeky buggers)... love the make up, love New York, love you 😘 xxxxxx
I just love this channel..When I watch your videos, I feel like I know you in person, like we've been close friends for years, like you're happy to see me and are excited to tell me what you've been up to... It's such a nice feeling I get. Thank you for this.
Nic, I LOVE these Starbucks state mugs and I live in Knoxville, TN! I drink from the Tennessee mug frequently. Cheers to the Nashville fun you had in my beautiful state! Loved the look. XO
Hi! I tore my ACL completely playing netball 3 years ago and whilst I waited for surgery I biked (stationary) a lot to help strengthen the quads and hammies; I highly recommend surgery if you want to play netball again, and loads of physio! Good luck
Such a great look! Sorry for your leg. I dislocated my kneecap over 10 years ago and it's never been the same after. I have had 3 surgeries and going in for a fourth soon to clean up because I have "gravel" inside the knee that gets stuck and hurts.
I'm a New Yorker (based in Brooklyn currently, not Manhattan), and this look is spot on. Exactly the type of makeup that I wear (although I do wear a cream highlighter basically every day, even if I haven no other makeup on), and that I admire on lots of other women in the city. Well done!
I would love to see your take on Gulf Coast glam (think the full Huda beat)! I don't think I've ever seen either of you put on that much makeup, it would be really fun to see how you work it :)
I used to be a New Yorker, you are correct with that term, and your observations about minimal makeup is also spot on. Lived there for 5+ years before moving away.
Erica G Having moved from the Midwest (USA), I find that New Yorkers wear a LOT of makeup...especially red lips, lots of foundation, and lots of eyes. Not minimal at all!
I live near New York and use walk of shame blotted on my lips with Vaseline all the time!! I would say this makeup look is spot on- I definitely add a slight pop of blush and highlighter on my cheekbones, brow bone, inner corner and center of my lid every day but it’s super subtle...love this series!
OMG!! I'm so glad you got that foundation - it is honestly the BEST foundation on the market. (i even like it more than the most luxury one they offer) Also side note, you are the loveliest person ever & I absolutely adore you xoxo
Glad to hear that you're still enjoying snow sports. We used to ski every year until ms and a weak left side stopped me. Enjoy it for as long as you can and good health to you in 2018. Xx
Loved the video Nic! I have this problem with always doing all out makeup. It's hard for me to scale back, and this was a perfect way to do that! And I love that lip color, adding it to my want list! I enjoy the way you applied the lipstick it is so natural it creates a youthful effect to the lips!
I was so glad to see you use Tailor Gray as I have that and rarely use it. I liked the color on your eyes so maybe I will pull that out of my drawer and use it in the a.m. your make up looked so polished and pretty.
I just moved from NZ to live in NY of all places!...The makeup trends here are all so different :) Thanks Nic, you always do beautiful looks. Still my favourite TH-camr from the beauty community xxx
Fab, simple look :) Would love to see some less typical cities - Berlin, Riga, Prague, Tel Aviv, Hanoi etc. I'm finding it much more interesting seeing your observations of what people are actually wearing rather than the usual stereotypes we see in magazines!
So sorry about your ACL, I hope it will heal quickly! Last year, I broke my ankle whilst standing still in a pair of killer 👠....standing...freakin..still.... It was the day after I'd used up all my paid time off at work and just before the holidays.... I can so relate to your feeling gutted. After the trip to the ER, and the morphine wore off, I think I cried for 2 days solid. I was bed bound for 3 weeks and out of work for about 3 months... wouldn't wish it on anyone. Also, being 37 as well, I totally appreciate your less is more approach to tutorials lately! 💗
New Yorkers- yup! and you are right - make up s both a necessity AND an after thought. It's VERY minimal, very clean and you can touch up through out the day. Hair, clothes and shoes are seen as being very important. Skin care is SUPER important.
Hehe, most of make up guru's i watched for many years they now left TH-cam cause they got married or got old. But you are still here, and 7 years passed. So it's nice you are still doing videos, despite how people like to bash women who grow older.
about hard gels, if the technition applied a big glob of a layer it will burn (only depends on some brands, but there is cooling hard gel out there). But there is a method to help ease the burn while gel is curing by ●method1)starting with hands outside the LED/UV light unit for 5sec then slowly moving it into the unit every 5sec move it in (e.g.1cm every 5sec) or if it still feels hot, you can flip your hands upside down & let it cure from underneath or ●Method2) is to put your whole hand in for 5sec, pull out for 5sec. Do that for 2-3 times then you can leave it in till finish curing. Its just to tease the gel so it doesn't burn too much or even nothing.
Gorgeous makeup! Love this mini series, can't wait for the next one. I was wondering if you could do a makeup look on someone in their late 40's or 50's? I really want to do my mum's makeup (she's going through a tough time and it's nice to pamper her) but want to use appropriate products/techniques. Just an idea :)
LOL NEW YORKERS YES When I loved there I the 90's all.I wore was moisturizer, a tiny bit of smudged brown pencil on the upper kids which I also mixed with my red lipstick to create a brick shade & a bit of rice powder to cut my slightly oily skin. My eyelashes are very dark & long so that's all that was needed. I wear a bit more make-up now since I watch you!💖 sort about your knee! Heal fast! MUCH love😁
yes! I'm a nailtech, getting your nails done should be a pleasure. if itbis because the nails recovery short and damaged then your nailtech should know how to ease the pain - and again not make the procedure pleasurable.
+The2ndbird I suffered for ages with a nail tech cause I loved the way she did my nails, and I kinda assumed that maybe it just hurt a bit. Then I went elsewhere and realised I should've never been in that much pain!
hard gel does tend to burn, some people are more sensitive to it than others. I have only had my nails done by experienced trained nail techs and hard gel allllllways burns for me. I feel like nail techs, piercers, and hairdressers are the professions that you cannot convince one that another is as good/educated/experienced, though, so someone's always gonna claim that every nail tech that I've worked with has been doing gel wrong lol.
Ava honestly even if they were doing it right with inferior product it would cause issues like burning possibly. But I don't think it's supposed to do that. Do you remember what it was like getting it filed off? Any strong smells or anything?
I'm actually excited to hear that there is somewhere where everyone does NOT wear hightlighter, because it seems like nowadays it is a must, and it's not really my thing. So fascinating to hear this! Gorgeous look!!!!
Loved the video. You are so beautiful. Must be amazing having eyes like yours. Would love to have seen you use Mac ‘New York Apple’ lipstick. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and love it. Great video Nic xx
I'm loving this new series, I can't wait for "SEOUL Makeup (Korean)"... Please do it the next one... I've been a big fan of you two since early 2010, I made my youtube account just to subscribe to PIXIWOO 8 years ago.
I'd love to see a Scandinavian look I've never seen that before xxx
Super minimal, no makeup makeup, I would say

Yes to everything you said!!!!!! Good grief, people, no one is perfect!
Agreed. Remember also she has dyslexia and MS so is bound to get
words wrong
I would say "you don't look 37 yo", but you know what? There's nothing wrong with aging and you look even prettier, it's visible how well you take care of yourself! Love your content
Right! She looks 37 and she looks great. All that stuff about telling people they don’t look their age is just a bit weird.
So happy that you did this. People that don't live in the states think that we all wear the Instagram makeup look because of the popular TH-camrs. Never apologise for a long video, we want long videos!! X
Adore how easy it is to spend 20 minutes with you cause you and Sam both are so lovely!
Yep, New Yorkers. You look beautiful!
Polly Dolly and people from Manhattan are Manhattanites!
+Polly Dolly & +Joetta Slanger , You're absolutely right! Almost no one knows the term Manhattanites, LOL!
Lisa Jarrell I didn’t know people didn’t know that term. I’m from Philly so I hear it used often! 😄

I'm waiting to see your Parisian kinda look even if I'm Italian 😂
Xoxo😘
Martina Patella
I’m a Parisian - although I moved to London 19 years ago and THIS (NYC) look is 100% Parisian too. So look no further. :)
You are absolutely right! I'm a New Yorker and my makeup is minimal. But I love a bold lip at night. Thank you sharing. You're gorgeous. 😊
I love this classic look, thank you! I grew up in Washington DC and I now wear a pared down version this every day in Seattle. I like the emphasis on lashes and the stained lip is fantastic. Love the look! I think I could wear it every single day. Thanks a lot for the tutorial! Hope you sort your leg soon, it's quite annoying to have this kind of injury and being held off the activities that you really love.
I'd love to see a Berlin makeup look ! Such a cool and edgy city
Pleeeeease do a "Aussie beach babe" look! Bronzed, glowy and fresh looking skin.
I lived in NYC for a time and you are spot on with that makeup! Also, I love your pair soap! Wish I could get it in Texas!
It would be nice to see your take on the Parisian look x

Nic's skin looks so good, I couldn't even see a difference when she put on foundation!
It's New Yorkers Nic. Isn't it frustrating when you can't think of an obvious word. Happens to me all the damn time. My kids put it down to age (cheeky buggers)... love the make up, love New York, love you 😘 xxxxxx
Love it! Can't wait to see your take on the Italian look
Great look ❤️ I love the shape of your nails💅🏻 I can’t have long nails because of my work & yours are making me want an manicure ASAP 👸🏼
You look beautiful Nic! Love and appreciate how genuine you are. Hope your knee is feeling better soon 😽
Don''t know if we're popular enough, but could you try a Chicago look ?? love you guys !
I just love this channel..When I watch your videos, I feel like I know you in person, like we've been close friends for years, like you're happy to see me and are excited to tell me what you've been up to... It's such a nice feeling I get. Thank you for this.
Are you a native English speaker ?..I ve written one page note about smart cities but I need to fix it and make it better so can you help me please ?.
I have many foundations, but the Cle de Peau Radiant Liquid foundation is my perennial favorite. So glad to see you using it in a tutorial.
I collect the Starbucks mugs as well! Going to new york in may and then on to Florida super excited! Loved this make up! Xx
Becky Smith i
Nic, I LOVE these Starbucks state mugs and I live in Knoxville, TN! I drink from the Tennessee mug frequently. Cheers to the Nashville fun you had in my beautiful state! Loved the look. XO
Hello from Cleveland, fellow Tennessean!
Love it Love It!!
This look is very Parisian to me.
This is my fave EVER look on you. Absolutely beautiful xxxxx

Beautiful as always.. I’d love to see your interpretation of Paris 👌🏽💄😘💋xx
How the heck didn't you notice that blob of concealer near your brow?! 😁 looove xoxo
Joanna K I was thinking the same but yet again fair play to her for even attempting to film the morning after she got home ❤️
She might not have seen it because of the studio lights they use.
Joanna K bright lights are blinding 😂😂 so annoying for everyone especially me. Sorry 😂😂
no need to be sorry honey, just found it quite funny. sending love from Warsaw :*
I live near New York and use walk of shame blotted on my lips with Vaseline all the time!! I would say this makeup look is spot on- I definitely add a slight pop of blush and highlighter on my cheekbones, brow bone, inner corner and center of my lid every day but it’s super subtle...love this series!
So gorgeous! I hope you do a Paris inspired look :) xoxoxo
OMG!! I'm so glad you got that foundation - it is honestly the BEST foundation on the market. (i even like it more than the most luxury one they offer) Also side note, you are the loveliest person ever & I absolutely adore you xoxo
I also get a Starbucks mug from every city I visit! Love this look, I will definitely be recreating it
Pretty specific to Manhattan, maybe the Chelsea district. I'd kill to see you take on Brooklyn (you won't be skipping the highlighter there!).
So gorgeous Nic! Can't wait for you to do an East Asian city look! Love this series. Cheers love
I love this nic! Another makeup inspiration for me. Thanks for this! Pls pls do the parisian makeup look 😁
Glad to hear that you're still enjoying snow sports. We used to ski every year until ms and a weak left side stopped me. Enjoy it for as long as you can and good health to you in 2018. Xx
We're called "New Yorkers." Your observations about us are spot on. Love it.
P.S. Love you both and I'm so excited to see what city look you do next. It's like your a makeup anthropologist.
I've torn my ACL too! I've tried some physio, but have had to resort to surgery as I have quite a bit of instability in my knee. Xx
I live in Texas, and with this cold lovely weather lately this is what I wear on the daily, but with a nude lip! I love it 💕💕
Loved the video Nic! I have this problem with always doing all out makeup. It's hard for me to scale back, and this was a perfect way to do that! And I love that lip color, adding it to my want list! I enjoy the way you applied the lipstick it is so natural it creates a youthful effect to the lips!
Nic along with Ziggy Stardust, Marilyn Monroe, Coco Chanel, Freddie Mercury and Bobbi Brown on the background! and Her Majesty The Queen! Perfect!
this makeup is beautiful!!
i would wear it without the liner and the contour powder
maybe with just brown mascara and grayish shadow
I was so glad to see you use Tailor Gray as I have that and rarely use it. I liked the color on your eyes so maybe I will pull that out of my drawer and use it in the a.m. your make up looked so polished and pretty.
I just moved from NZ to live in NY of all places!...The makeup trends here are all so different :)
Thanks Nic, you always do beautiful looks. Still my favourite TH-camr from the beauty community xxx
The lipstick looks magnificent on you!
stunning as always! Thank you for the long video! Love hearing your stories! Good luck with your injury!
Thank you, I’m a New Yorker and I’m aware of the shop across from the Soho Grand. Thanks for the tip, I’m going to fetch that foundation!!
Fab, simple look :) Would love to see some less typical cities - Berlin, Riga, Prague, Tel Aviv, Hanoi etc. I'm finding it much more interesting seeing your observations of what people are actually wearing rather than the usual stereotypes we see in magazines!
38 here and makeup accentuating my lines is my number 1 struggle! I can't wait to try that concealer/highlight trick! Thanks!
So sorry about your ACL, I hope it will heal quickly! Last year, I broke my ankle whilst standing still in a pair of killer 👠....standing...freakin..still.... I’m so glad you did this video!! I saw the photo on Facebook and was hoping you would do a little tutorial.
So true about New Yorkers and their relationship to makeup! Great video!!!
New Yorkers- yup! and you are right - make up s both a necessity AND an after thought. It's VERY minimal, very clean and you can touch up through out the day. Hair, clothes and shoes are seen as being very important. Skin care is SUPER important.
Edith Spencer I love it! Clean and minimal is so classic, most of the “instagram” makeup is bordering on drag queen.

Urban, matt, Helena Rubenstein, business as usual! Great look!
So happy to see you with your hair down!
What a breath of fresh air! Less is more!
I don’t get why people click the thumps down . Sad people are like that. You are wonderful ❤️
I'd really love to see a Maltese inspired look , love your videos ! 😍😍😻xxxx from Malta
Love to see an lo-fi, chill Sydney look 😊
Beautiful 😍. Thank you. I was in New York in December & really enjoyed your instagram stories. Hope you feel better soon after your accident. X
Your lashes are amazing....do you use a lash serum, if yes, which one? xx
Hello! Love this look! 😍Do you have Make up atelier eyeshadow palettes? Can you do a tutorial on classic makeup with make up atelier t22 palette?
LOL NEW YORKERS YES When I loved there I the 90's all.I wore was moisturizer, a tiny bit of smudged brown pencil on the upper kids which I also mixed with my red lipstick to create a brick shade & a bit of rice powder to cut my slightly oily skin. My eyelashes are very dark & long so that's all that was needed. I wear a bit more make-up now since I watch you!💖 sort about your knee! Heal fast! MUCH love😁
I like your videos so much and i am looking forward to watching more Videos from you doing natural make up for men :)
I would love to see you do Chicago makeup, am very curious what your interpretation of my city would be! ☺ XX
This is one aspect of the NY look. Different places have different trends.
Nails shouldn't hurt. The person who did your nails probably overfiled your nail bed or removed more than just cuticle.

I'm loving this new series, I can't wait for "SEOUL Makeup (Korean)"... Please do it the next one... I've been a big fan of you two since early 2010, I made my youtube account just to subscribe to PIXIWOO 8 years ago.
Would love to see your take on a Vancouver/West Coast Canada look!
