I flew on RCAF 707’s many times. Including to Lahr. Shearwater was a great airport to depart from. You usually headed out over the Atlantic before heading west to Ottawa or Trenton.
I started off in the back of the CC-137 and then a few years later they bought in the CC-150's. Big upgrade in comfort and quite. I can't wait for a decent A-330 to make it into MSFS so I can throw this grey livery on it and start doing some CC-330 ops. Over the last year I've had the MSFS CC-150 (A310) criss crossing the world recreating real world flights I took to places like Thule, Lahr, Ancona and Nairobi, to name a few. Loads of fun.

This is the first blue CC-330, but the second one is currently in the original Kuwait Airways livery. The white/blue/red aircraft has a VIP configuration for use by the government on diplomatic trips. It's pretty much our Air Force One. It can also be converted for use as a troop transport or air tanker if needed.

Later, one yahoo would drop the title with the amalgamation of the various military branches into the Canadian Armed Forces, with the replacement of RCAF with various "commands", before all air units were combined into an "Air Command". All that accomplished was to damage esprit de corps, before the title RCAF was re-established almost 50 years later.
Bet that's a much nicer ride than the old North Star we returned from Dad's 4 year posting in France in 1962! 1-Wing Marville to Trenton non-stop (think it was about 11 hours).

@@AUmarcus What's that got to do with "new for the military" You do realize the CC-150, the aircraft these are replacing, were originally Wardair aircraft from 1987. Seeing as Canada bought 5 A330 aircraft for the same price as buying 1 new A330, and seeing as they should be able to squeeze another 27-28 years out of them (Kuwait Airlines got them new in late 2015)..new for the military. Used aircraft are not like used cars. Plus all retrofitting to MRTT status is being done by Airbus. And just to place you fears to rest, an additional 4 brand new MRTT units will be built by Airbus.

I flew from CFB Trenton to Brize Norton to Tel Aviv in 1998 aboard one of our CC150 Polaris A310's. It was a huge improvement over the CC130's that we had been ferried around North America in! While in Trenton I toured the Polaris set up for VIP transport and actually sat in PM Jean Chretien's seat. I should have left a huge steaming turd on his seat.

It looked to me as though all flaps were extended to about 30°. Not sure what you mean by 1 flap, did you mean flaps on one wing only? I don’t think it would be possible to get this airplane off the ground in that configuration because the opposite wing would be stalled.
what is with the horizontal tail fin? it look like it was not painted after welding 🤔 Maybe a stealth feature to make it look like a current Russian😇 plane
The RCAF has also converted A330s to A330 MRTTs but 5 aircraft are purely passenger aircraft for troop transport and government flights. Two former Kuwait Airways A330s have already been delivered and a third is currently being converted here in Basel.
There are some locations that can not accommodate a330-900 because of wing span. You have two choices fly a 787 or an older a330. Since rcaf already have pilots trained on a330 based aircraft this made sense for them. 64 meter vs less than 61 meters on the -300 variant. Same with the 787 wing span because it’s less than 61 meters.
I will say this is the first aircraft to have a boom style refueling point as well as two wing tip refuel ports. The real question i have is what trade will the boom operator be. I was thinking flight engineer but could also be aero mechinical position
Why? Every aircraft manufacturer has had its problems of one sort or another and if the RCAF bought Boeing they would have got the 777 which is one of the safest aircraft ever built with no hull losses recorded. The top two safest aircraft in the world are the Boeing 717 and the 777 and three of the top 4 are Boeing. The A330 has been involved in 14 complete loss incidents with 338 fatalities. Don't you want the best for our servicemen and women?
The PM doesn't have a plane exclusive to him, like the President does for example. For instance, the CC150 that was used for VIP transport, was also used for military use as needed.

Supposedly 8 of the 9 will be MRTT (four converted and four brand new) and then the one configured for VIP use. If it's anything like the CC150 fleet, the VIP version will also be used for military uses as needed. I don't think they will be transporting ministers but more so PM, Governor General, Royal Family when they come to Canada etc.

The former British PM Johnson purchased two Dassault Falcon 900 LX for government ministerial travel, which contains ZERO British content. Had Johnson purchased the Bombardier Challenger or Global they both contain aero parts manufactured in Belfast, NI, UK. In the case of Global, their turbine engines are Rolls Royce Deutschland. If they wanted to stick with Airbus, get in the 2020’s and go with the A350. Longer range and more fuel efficient. Now that’s my two cents.

At this point comes the registration of aircraft 30-003 (003), as this aircraft initially belonged to Kuwait Airways and will be completed in Canada.

There will air refuelling and cargo transport. And 2 will be for troop transport/VP

@@AeroProductions747 We all are entitled to our opinions. I worked around thousands of aircraft over the years and I simply don’t like this airplane. It’s ugly and outdated in style even if it’s new!
If they wanted to stick with Airbus, get in the 2020’s and go with the A350. Longer range and more fuel efficient. Now that’s my two cents.
