You may recall the musical “Camelot”. King Arthur suggests the rain should be only at night with beautiful sunshine during the day. Back in those days, kings knew how to get stuff done.
72 years old and also no desire to “celebrate” anything. Also heavily involved in clearing out a lifetime of junk. Feels extremely freeing and empowering. There is a serenity in simplicity.
Yes indeed, I stopped that celebration capitalism on crack foolishness many moons ago, freeing .. so freeing, no need to spend money I don’t have and or would rather save !
After 70+ years many do not want to celebrate. I enjoy the holidays for what their intended. Thanksgiving can be everyday and Christmas can be too. Both to me are based on love and thankfulness.❤🌹❤ They can become too materialistic. Though I will admit, holidays can be very hard. Especially when you are missing those you love who are no longer with us.🕊😇🕊
I totally agree, I'm still paying for two huge storage units of left over furniture from my previously sold home, but now living in a tiny apartment...
I don't celebrate the holidays primarily for religious reasons, but I believe that the consumerism pushed on us by corporations is a way to control our spending and their bottom line. They get richer off others being so ready to go into debt during the holidays. Do your thing Scott. I support your decision and applaud it. AND thank you for the French Press demo. I always wondered how that works.
I enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays this time of year, but in my family we gave each other the gift of no gift giving about 10 years ago when my dad's health took a nosedive and I became his caregiver. No one needs more debt or stress in their life (or stuff). We focused instead on being together and making memories before he passed. Best thing we ever did.
It feels good to get rid of stuff that can really overtime start to affect us mentally . I went through my house a few years ago and got rid of alot of stuff it was as if a huge wait had been lifted off my shoulders . I hope you have a beautiful blessed wonderful day ❤
As l manage chronic health conditions l am finding myself a little stretched this year with Christmas preparations. After hosting Christmas lunch and dinner as well as having family staying with me for a week I think l will aim for simplicity and quiet time in the New Year period 🤔 Looking forward to more of your videos in 2025 Scott and keep enjoying some great coffee ☕
For one thing, I don’t mind the rain and snow as long as I have coffee, tea and soup/stew within reach. Your van looks very cozy. You have everything you need within reach for comfort. ☕️✨
My dad always said you get what you pay for. With that thought I don't feel $100 is that expensive for something that will last for years. He always bought the best he could afford. May not have been the most expensive but not the cheapest. Have a good week. 😊

@StaticCamperVan Shoot, sorry. I didn't realize that you'd already make a talk about them. I just got excited that a fella who's work I enjoy is talking coffee in some of my stomping grounds.
Hello coffee is your vice… Therefore, you deserve to spend a little bit more money on something you truly enjoy… Good to see you. Good to hear the rain. Almost think I can smell the coffee :-) have a great week!💜
A year ago in a live stream you mentioned a diesel heater instead of a propane…. Now it’s -9 Celsius on the east coast and I am very happy with my diesel…. Thanks for your input….Hope this season goes smoothly for you! Thanks for all you do Scott
Hi Scott. Great to see your video tonight. I think you are referring to Scrooge as the curmudgeon. Never one of my favorite characters even when I was young. It's unfortunate that many of us as we age don't even see the remaining family we still have. As so in my case. This will be my 8th year alone for Christmas. It's OK. I wish it were different, but I enjoy being by myself too. I make the best of it. And as you said, no need to spend money I don't really have anymore on presents. With my little tiny dog, Simba, who is a Morkie, we will enjoy our day together. A Morkie is a Yorkie/Maltese mix. He's only 2 years old and SO adorable. He will make my Christmas sparkle again this year! Scott, have a wonderful holiday and a beautiful walk. Merry Christmas
Good morning Scott. Here in Pennsylvania it has been raining a lot. I too am listening to the rain and having some morning mud. Your videos make the beginning of my day better than most! Thank you for you time! ☕️☕️
Thanks! Scott I can relate. Soon I get settlement.I to will be van life. Hopefully 2013 and older connect. My names Otis hope this helps a little. I’m outa work with broken leg.
Hi Scott - the rain has been awful but it will improve this week - just a bit unsettled. It does sound lovely though. North Bay means the communities to the north of the Bay - Petaluma, Santa Rosa etc. Stay dry and caffeinated!
13:47 Great Band!😉 Christmas '22 I was parked by a hiking trail and got a knock, it was a lovely lady bringing me a coffee and some Christmas treats for me and Ringo. So thoughtful! I don't celebrate any holidays either but was happily surprised by the gesture☃️🇨🇦🐾
Fascinating how you’ve rigged your vehicle with running water, a sink, stove, handy bed, sources of heat and light, and a portable toilet/bucket. And you manage so well, even though you’re six-feet tall!
The only holiday that I truly love and enjoy is Thanksgiving. I can easily pass on all others especially Christmas. Although when my sons were little, we did do all the Christmas things - decor, tree, baking/cooking, hosting and gifts for all. It was more emotionally and mentally draining than it was physical. Now that they are grown and out of the house, I don't decorate or put up tree, and for the past couple of years haven't hosted Christmas eve or day dinner. I actually like being a "hermit" during Christmas. 😑It has been cold and raining all day here in Contra Costa County. I was watching your video while cooking a big pot of chicken and vegetables soup and now I'm enjoying it while reading the comments. 😊 Thanks for another day in your life and coffee video, Scott ☕🍵🌻have a great rest of the week.
Scott, you love your coffee! I have been absent, I apologize. I am in construction and Harbor Freight is my choice these days for hand tools and even their battery tools are solid. Sign up online and get their sale items. I have been running back and forth, Boston to Pensacola in my 2010 Ford Transit Connect. My van is not even remotely set up like your but being able to pull over and go to sleep for me is most enjoyable. I agree on Christmas which has been commercialized why too much. Great channel and happy to see you seem to be doing well!!🙏🇺🇸
Good for you it’s always good to start the day with coffee , there’s so much that I love about coffee especially if you have one that is just the right flavor and right extras to put in it , sometimes I like it plain .
That rain looked and sounded heavenly. Nothing I love more than falling asleep to those sounds. I've been in Las Vegas since before Thanksgiving. The weather has been sunny and clear (I think there's only been one day of actual rain this whole time), and while that is nice to a point, being the Washingtonian I am, I really miss a good drenching.
Great video Scott thanks for letting me hang out with you on a rainy day glad you’re chilling in my home town yea nice chat 💬 Scott thank you 🙏🇺🇸☕️☕️☕️
I am also a minimalist, but I enjoy my coffee every morning also even though I just use Keurig Peets Coffee. I have been reading the Red/Green/Blue Mars books. Best science fiction in a long time.
Im not a big fan of Christmas Scott,i prefer Feb onwards, springtime,i was telling you last time im throwing everything out ,im ruthless at the moment, if i haven't used it in 6 months its gone😂 nothing is safe😂❤

I so enjoy listening to your coversations; its more than just relaxing; it just enjoying the simple things of life without complications. I don't live in a van but I am also minimumlistic so having things in common with you i can relate. Your channel has great value and I appreciate it. Thank you.

I haven't celebrated holidays for almost forty years for various reasons including the trend toward consumerism being mainstreams predominant "hobby." Ha Its people "feeling sorry" for me that is the worse thing about it for me... Some truly live for the holidays, as seen by all the stores putting the upcoming holiday goods out months in advance. Too each their own, Im rooting for all. I have decided the greatest gifts are: time - actually making time for others - wether that be giving them a hand or a shoulder and listening ear. the other actually is gift giving - as in when you see something that suits them perfectly or something you know they need - given on whatever day for no reason other than the thought of them....thats the absolute best in my book! Great video as always - hoping your new van presents to you soon, so you can get that out of the way. I hope to you will be able to fit a great new tool kit in it...i know you can't have all the tools you would like for obvious reasons, those preloaded tool boxes are really handy to have & esthetically pleasing at the same time. Thank you for sharing some nice quiet rainy moments & musings. Hope you have a great week!

I agree with you about living and preferring a simple life. I only celebrate holidays with food. I walked down to Pike Place Market today for local skinless chicken breasts and think I will make a whole chicken with roasted vegetables for Christmas day followed by a nice walk. I prefer looking at things now rather than filling up my small space with trinkets.
Concentrating on what you're doing is a perfect way to live. I think that's what they do in Japanese tea ceremony. It's very spiritual and considered an art.
53 degrees in my garage for work this morning. Thank goodness for propane heaters. Down in East Bay Area. What was morning temperature today for you? Takes a good 15-20 minutes to get my garage out of refrigerator feeling.
I'm working on getting a Bluetti "Charger 1" Dc-Dc Charger which makes more efficient use of Car Alternator to charge Power Stations/House Power, it has adjustable voltage levels to accommodate different systems.
I have the 121 piece Craftsman socket set from Lowe's. I bought it on clearance a couple years ago. It's about $150 now, but totally worth it. The pieces lock into the case so when you open it they don't spill everywhere. This is one of the few brands that still do that. Shake the box, if you can hear parts rattling, that's not good for van life. I changed my spark plugs using only that set. I also change my own oil and have removed my own tires using sockets from that set on a Ridgid driver. I'm happy with what I have for tools. But I have a theory that Milwaukee 12v power tools are better suited for van lifers who aren't necessarily into serious building stuff. Apparently the main advantage to 18v tools is the higher torque output.
You know it's funny, in the 60s, Santa Rosa was not considered North Bay, it was a destination small town city. Remember with the old cars, 50 miles was a big trip in the 30"s through the sixty s
I’ll be retiring next week in Orange County and built out my truck bed for my multi day drive to my Daughters in Ferndale. I also love North Cal. You also just inspired me to buy my first Aeropress, haha

The sound of rain on a metal roof must be intense and interesting sound.

Congrats on your retirement
