It’s odd how they put people in charge of these IPs who go out of their way to crap on the history of established properties and then blame the FANS for the failure of new characters and storylines. Hasbro needs an enema!
Interesting. As far as D&D, yet another example of taking something established and trying to change everything about it in order to cater to a different audience. Why not just create your own all-new IP from the ground up to be exactly the way you want it? As for Elon buying Hasbro, I would hope he could retain the IPs. It will be curious watching what plays out either way.
It would definitely be interesting if it plays out! And I totally agree with you regarding changing existing IPs to try to cater to a new audience (who usually don’t care anyway).

Gi joe could be what it was before but it needs to be at a scale where you can have vehicles and figures at prices CHILDREN can afford. then you need a cartoon on Netflix kids can watch. how do you think transformers lasted so long? @verndelap i kind of doubt that. I could actually see a resurgence in cartoons for transformers and G.I. Joe that were based on the G1 comics. Those stories were a lot of fun, and I bet Elon probably knows that lore.
There is a large mix of investments that own Hasbro. I just started looking at some of that, I mean I see American Funds has some in the mix, so depending on the mix of American Funds a lot of people have, you or your Grandparents may have a small slice of ownership in Hasbro. There's the top percent owners, like Vanguard. What do does that company know about toys that Elon Musk doesn't, I suppose. With the more recent layoffs, I have to wonder if the new CEO (did he give himself a pay raise or bonuses after the layoffs?) and a lot of people on the board(s) aren't looking at getting more money for themselves, too. Elon Musk buying a large share of the company would be interesting. Internet search says, Vanguard is Tesla's largest investor. There's already a connection.

Considering he's one of the richest men on the planet, it's unwise to brush off someone with that level of influence and resources. Having worked around extremely wealthy individuals-though none anywhere near Musk’s level-I can tell you that people with "f*** you" money like Elon operate on an entirely different playing field. There’s really no limit to what they can and will do. Take Hasbro as an example. In the last four years, it’s gone from being a $14 billion company to under $7 billion. Their stock is in rough shape, with people mainly buying and flipping it rather than holding on as a long-term investment. To offset their losses, Hasbro has been cutting production and laying off employees repeatedly. It’s a recurring pattern that doesn’t seem sustainable. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out from here.
Yeah Hasbro isn’t sitting high on a hill as many like to boast. That and everyone dismissed the Twitter thing for as long as they could, too - mocked it, etc. Who knows, we’ll see. Rich people do weird rich people crap.

Looking at the Primary Owners of Hasbro it's Vanguard (10.8%) and BlackRock (8.4%) So yeah pretty much Suit and Tie Investment Firms that are only interested in massive profits!
I tried to convey that realistically I don’t care no matter what on a personal level. The percentage of modern Hasbro stuff I buy is like 2% at best of my yearly toy purchases. But if it helps overall for the toy industry and he puts toy people in there, sure - all for it IF it were to happen.
Sell Dungeons and Dragons to Elon, so he leaves the rest of Hasbro alone. As much as I dislike the people running Hasbro right now, Elon would only make things worse.
That would suck, because both Marvel Legends and Star Wars would end up somewhere else far from an Elon Musk company. The other bad thing is he could care less for GI Joe, which I enjoy. It’s only about the D & D IP.
Eh. Disney IPs are gonna leave no matter what one day. And who’s to say if he cares about JOE or not. I’d argue he cares as much if not more than their execs who hate their “war brand”. It’s all academic to argue about anyway - at least for now.
I think everyone that was fired from Hasbro cares more about Hasbro, than their current Exec’s. It sounds that he only wants to be there to control one IP. I think you’re right, Marvel is one step away from leaving Hasbro. But everyone stepping on the bread and butter, that keeps that company afloat, GI Joe.
*Me seeing this after Hasbro is trying to do better with Beyblade X and Nerf* "Well, my favorite childhood toy lines are possibly on a chopping block if this happens right when it's getting good for Beyblade" Also, why buy the whole company and not just the IP itself
Nah he wants to make a AI only game studio and wants to buy D&D so he doesn't have to license the system. Elon has never had a original thought in his head. He complains about massive corporations but he he is a massive corporation. His business only survives because of government contracts. Elon didn't create anything he bought everything. Tesla created by two other people. Tesla never delivers a product on time. Bought Twitter for 42billion company now worth under 10 and is trying to sue companies for not advertising on the platform. Great business plan. Elon will fire half the people employed at hasbro. So I guess when he does it it'll be OK but not when the company it self does it. And again if Hasbro wouldn't have stupidly bought eOne and wasted 4 billion and had to write off 500million a quarter for the last few w years they would have been in the black despite "all the shitty characters going to Ross". Business's in all sectors thought they could ride that covid wave. It was stupid. This is stupid Elon is stupid.
Great Video Chad once again. I just like to see more creative people again make Gi Joe great again. Get rid of stock holders all together, I know that will never happen but it's my dream of what Hasbro can be again. I don't know if I can trust Elon Musk to buy Hasbro, then it's another person vision of what he wants to do with the company and what if his Vision is NO GI Joe in his vision of Hasbro😱 Then what, back to square one. Just saying🤔
GI Joe Cybertrucks! Transformers Tesla 3! WOW!🤪 SERIOUSLY THOUGH, Vanguard and Blackrock pretty much own Hasbro AND Mattel. These Hot Wheels Transformers and Barbie Monopoly games are part of this. Now we are getting GI Joe Mega Blocks. Two companies that were once big competitors are now owned by the same investment firms of Vanguard and Blackrock. Personally, I think these two investment firms should be broken up, but the SEC is not going to do it because of the money congress members make off of the investments from these 2 firms. Having someone else own the company might be a good thing. I know Musk is polarizing, but you have to admit, he did build a company on his own. He may have business practices we hate, but most businesses have done these. In short, we will just have to see.

Wow. Thanks for the video Chad. This is definitely interesting news for any consumer of Hasbro products. If the purchase of Hasbro occurs, Elon Musk would not be the one I would chose to buy it. After all, it isn't like he has a successful track record with keeping talent himself. Regardless, should Hasbro be in a position to sell its ownership, this change would rock our worlds.

@@citadelli yeah he’d have to hire talent to fix it for him. That’s for sure. And for sure Disney would let their contract end if Elon bought Hasbro. But their IPs have been sinking lately anyway.
Don't know about D&D, if Musk does buy Hasbro, and needs some reliable no BS solid straight forward advice about GI JOE and other IPs. If possible, get Bobby / Valaverse in there.
Regardless of your political leanings, Musk's take over of Hasbro would be a disaster. He doesn't buy companies to make them great. He either buys them to alter the product to fit his vision (which usually fails), or he buys it to trash it. Hasbro has quite a repertoire of IPs that Musk would ruin just so he could do whatever he wants to D&D. I mean, if he just wants to "fix" D&D, why not cut a licensing deal with Hasbro to take over JUST D&D? That'd make more sense than buying a billion-dollar toy company and running it into the ground.
I think for Twitter his vision was for freedom of speech and to not do what the government tells you to do...like Jack did. I think I'm okay with a vision that doesn't act like Canada, France, or the UK.

Elon,,could bring back the JOE things we all greatly want to see again suck as a SUNBOW type animated series or even a continuation of the 95 A REAL AMERICAN HERO line. He may be closer to us than the EMILIES and LENNIES in attitude. Just maybe a good thing. hasblo,...why are you sooo insenitive 👾👾👾😜😜😜
I hope they make Star Wars o ring figures 3 3/4 And make GIJoes better like Delta17 figures. And the reason why most o ring collectors don’t collect modern figures is because the joints don’t move smoothly. The joints are fragile and they do snap off. If they made modern figures with rivets or a better joint system that flows. That’s my biggest issue with modern type figures. As well as the proportions. Even some o ring figures got made with the Vodo shrinking heads
I personally don’t feel the D17 figures are ‘better’ than say the recent TFxJOE o-ring figures. But I’m not an o-ring guy either anyway. So it’s all academic to me. Star Wars would not stay IF Musk buys Hasbro. No way.
So if they could make or design better figures that are properly proportioned and flow then I would enjoy modern but if you can take them a part like o ring figures. I enjoy the flexibility. I might have to make a video so you understand what I am saying cause I think both have faults and both can be improved upon.
Exactly. How is there no JOE show?! Simple - Emily said she was happy there was no dedicated media for JOE so they can augment other toy lines. They see JOE as less than Legends or Star Wars.
@ how does that make a damn sense? Even though I wasn’t a fan of the live action movies. The first two had fun 4 inch lines. Also bring back Battle Beasts.

He’s turn a profit almost immediately. But all the lying to the shareholders. It’s such a mess. It’s almost like Disney it’s like they’re trying to tank their own company.
Looking at the Primary Owners of Hasbro it's Vanguard (10.8%) and BlackRock (8.4%) So yeah pretty much Suit and Tie Investment Firms that are only interested in massive profits!

It’s ironic there’s a human CEO in The Transformers comics named G.B. Blackrock who’s an ally to the Autobots and cares for his workers’ welfare.
@@KRBrickBot that is definitely some serious irony

I hope he does buy it.

@@LF-IV thanks for the comment 🤙🏼 I honestly don’t know if their hubris would allow that option.

Nah he wants to make a AI only game studio and wants to buy D&D so he doesn't have to license the system. Elon has never had a original thought in his head.
GI Joe Cybertrucks! Transformers Tesla 3! WOW!🤪
SERIOUSLY THOUGH, Vanguard and Blackrock pretty much own Hasbro AND Mattel.
I don’t disagree with those good points!

Ya know…funny you mention that… 🤫
Regardless of your political leanings, Musk's take over of Hasbro would be a disaster.
I don’t have an argument for that. I’ve never studied his track record with businesses, etc.
I just laid it out for them to play it out.

@@mythicpeyotewhy so?
