What is the function of the "rage" card? I've always thought it's not good

Using the card rage will cut off 1000HP of the hero as per its written in the attributes of the card (-1000) and provide a whopping 250Attack power and 15% Crit rate. So in a sense its like you sacrificed some of your hp to get more damage
