Actually looking ahead, this game becomes a commentary on how shit Developers have it when they have to meet their deadlines as the narrator voice tries to make you avoid those messages as you find out the narrator is just a CEO of some sort who constantly increases the scope of the game at ridiculous intervals making it impossible to fully complete. So essentially this game is giving us what would it be like to work under Chinese David Cage. There's actually a moment in the game where Chinese David Cage finds out one of the developers has been cucking him by screwing his wife in secret. And then you receive a phone call from her. Yep. Instant buy.

I'd been getting s sick of these "deep" "meta" narratives since Spec Ops: The Load, with only the occasional Undertale-like Gem having good enough writing that that stupid "twist" wasn't literally the only thing the game had. Knowing the meta is actually about a game designer issue, and one that I can relate to in my own job, at that, instantly increases my interest tenfold.

To be honest, I really think only the SBFP got fooled by any of that, they actually completely missed multiple offtrack paths at the start that would have made it so they don't start thinking it's not a meta game. I'll just give ya the hint that you can enter the house they went past.

Basically, you are actually still playing the overseer's game! He makes it seem like there are only two choices- the intended route and the disappointing nothing. Maybe you need to skirt the main story, just trying to glimpse what is underneath, playing along until you find the 'dark souls 3 super asshole ending' option!

Eh, I don't really think it matters that they spoil the meta stuff ahead of time. I mean honestly how many people actually got to play Undertale or the Stanley Parable without knowing that at least something was going to be unconventional about it? Sure there's that relatively small group of players who initially discover the game and get that nice surprise, but word of mouth quickly destroys any mystique surrounding a game, as seen right here in their Undertale play through where they hadn't even finished the first video before people were telling them how to play in order to get the "right" endings and content. It's a consequence of the internet existing, and I imagine even if they didn't mention the meta stuff on the steam page the vast majority of people who play it will ultimately know about it before playing it anyways.

The Chinese narrator seems to mimic the narrator from Stanley's parable. This is quite noticeable in the tone in which the narrator in ICEY use when he "exposes the truth" in a way similar to the narrator in Stanley's parable under similar circumstances
