    Good video for the most part. FYI tho, you don't have remove the cup holder or the console cover. All you need to remove is the black ring bezel around the shifter and that'll give you access to the shift lock button.

    That thing under the dash that was very dark he was pointing at toward the end is somewhere along the arm that holds the brake pedal. Just followed it and at some point when you step on brake pedal you will see like a button that gets pushed. That is the sensor that actuates the brake lights and also allows for the shifter to shift. Good quick way to test that sensor is step on brake and have somebody see if your brake lights turn on. If they dont turn on when you push brake, something is wrong with that sensor.

    This is a great video if you are a) in a pinch and need to get going and have a slender metal tool to depress the lever switch or b) have a bad backup fuse and didn't know that could cause the issue. Please know, however that it could also be the brake light switch, located just above your brake pedal and fully accessible with just a screwdriver. For just about 10 bucks at AutoZone and about 15 minutes time you can resolve this issue and never have to worry about it again. As I've posted on another video, the brake light switch replacement was 120 bucks at the Honda dealership. SAVE YOUR MONEY and DIY!!!

      ***** I just noticed the bit he mentioned about the BLS. Very easy replacement. This video was perfect as he went from the cheapest issue to the most expensive, though in my experience the BLS is likely the culprit most of the time.

  • @KeithFox

    Just a heads up... if this keeps blowing the fuse in the rain, it's most likely a hole in the trunk, water gets in and shorts the fuse for this 7.5W back up light fuse (and shift lock release).

    Dude, you don't need to take the cupholder and cover off. Just pop out the little piece to the left of the shifter and insert your screwdriver to push the override button.
    Thanks for your vid tho. I'll definitely check out my fuse.

  • @3fourone

    I've had occasional problems, 4-5 times a year ago and twice during this past week, with the horn spontaneously sounding with regular pulses, not continuously, but honk, pause, honk, pause, honk, etc. This happened with the car parked, and locked in my driveway, and in a parking lot. Once, this past week, it stopped when I was about to leave the house to press a button on my key fob to get it to stop. Then, a couple of days ago, the car was stuck in Park. I couldn't find the clips, get them to release, on the flat plastic ahead of the cup holder. I visually checked a couple of fuses,, but didn't have a tester. Ultimately, I had the car towed to the nearby Honda dealership. They replaced Fuse #47. The car's no longer stuck in Park, and I'll monitor the horn problem. I think it may be related, and, therefore, also solved.

    • @3fourone
      @3fourone 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Harvey Pillersdorf Turned out that Fuse # 47 was not the only problem. There was a short circuit in the horn. Due to the location of the horn and its wiring, between the grill and the radiator, it's exposed to lots of road dirt and weather. Eventually, the dealership mechanics realized that sounding the horn caused fuse #47 to blow. I found a replacement horn at a Harbor Freight store for $100 for a new horn. All's fine now.

      Ryan Arakaki you could have a bad brake light switch. It could make irregular contact with the sensor, which would make it work sometimes and at other times not. 10 bucks at AutoZone, all you need is a phillips head.
